I love how these old films make me want to join the navy more than the modern recruitment ads. Too bad we don't have any active battle wagons in the fleet.

@@ferrarogaming223 Sorry to kinda dash your dreams but battleships are done for in modern naval combat. Even the Iowas are done for in a combative use, Its just not practical to have such big ships around with the threat of aircraft.
Plus, a well placed torpedo could send a slow moving, several million dollar battle ship the the bottom.
I'm always drawn to Anchors Away. My Dad served in the Navy and was in Pearl Harbor Dec 7, 1941. While growing up we made a regular practice of watching Victory at Sea on Saturdays as I recall. Dad ship was engaged in WWII for the duration. I was serving on a patrol ship out of Guam patrolling the Trust Territories of the Pacific and Barrier Patrols on the Dew Line in the north Pacific. We deployed to Vietnam when combat escalated there. I'm still moved by Anchors Away.
I'm currently active duty in the US Navy. Proud to serve this great country.

Our public schools should show these films, give kids of now an idea of what it was kinda like in a very important time of our histlry! And I learned these songs as a little girl from my dad who fought in WW2 and the Korean war. He has a bunch of the old 78's and albums I used to play on my record player in the early 70's, I still love these war songs!

Yeah instead of making us learn through an inaccurate textbook and these films could help motivate them to join the Armed Forces too.
Despite being young, I have a huge preference towards all things vintage instead of what's popular nowadays ranging from music, fashion, automobile designs, and culture

I love this version of the song way better than the other ones, the other ones sound like they were made in the modern times.
There’s a reason why they were called the “Great Generation”!
Also anchors away and unsere marine are the best naval anthems ever composed!

@@MR-2_AW11 Yes. You can tell by the dual turrets and cage masts. Only other class to have that type of fire control tower is the Tennessee class.
