In my last place in Colombia I had one quite similar: la ruta del pan :D I think you should go to Merida. I wanted to go there for myself, but then, well, Covid messed up all my plans.
The only decent places in cancun is literally the hotel beach zone where you need $100 plus to rent a hotel. Downtown Cancun and other beaches outside of the hotel beach zone in Cancun are kind of pitiful areas. But when you’re with Kev it’s still fun 🤪😎
I can almost do a parody of this called living on $0 a day in America.... looking into neighbors fidges, inviting my self to bbq's I smell, breaking into houses, and selling things I found in the trash 😁 sorry I can't help my sense of humor sometimes.

there is a chain of las palapas restaurants in San Antonio,Texas that are open 24 hours. This definitely beats it though. 😋
