Hi there, Prairie Plantgirl!👋 I'm excited with you on seed sowing time!💃🏽 You got great germination.😃 Yesterday, I put my saved Impatien seeds in a paper towel to sprout. I use plastic containers to place the paper towels and seeds in. I wrap the containers with a large bath towel to keep the seeds warm and cozy. I usually have germination within 5 days for most seeds.👩🏾🌾 We are pretty excited in Central Texas today...our high is 52...we are out and about.☀️💕
Lol, I just received my second order of seeds yesterday that I didn’t need. I really only needed a few but had to get varieties at 2 places so you know how that goes. First of course will be alliums, got fresh seed and a new shallot. Then it’s on to sorting new flower varieties to start. Trying a different company this year for salmon geranium, let’s see if this one is bright red/orange 🙄. I need to find motivation and get the shelves situated. I had to pot up last year’s geraniums and overwintering some other plants and they are a bit of room hogs 😅. What I need is to get out of the house! It’s January thaw, but the 💨 it’s gusty!
My pansy seeds will be coming in tomorrow and I'll sow a few next month early for sure. I got a few of the the fizzle sizzle(?) and the black one coz I couldn't stop from getting them all lol. I want a lot of them for spring, and may start more for fall. Also, I bought thse silicone cells earlier this month as a present to myself so it's cool to see you're using them as well. :)
I love the silicone trays. I purchased two sets last year and am considering purchasing more. My pansies go a bit idle in the heat of summer and perk back up in autumn so I only do the one sowing.
@@PrairiePlantgirl I have a lot of trays/modules that size, so need to wait to get more. But I have stopped buying plastic trays from this year. Only, I have the bootstrap farmer ones which will at least last a long while, so I can't bring myself to get more just yet lol. Will be keeping an eye out for bigger sizes from the silicone trays though. I noticed my pansies only lasted in certain parts of my garden. They seem to be shaded out and then died by bigger plants and/or scorched in the sunnier parts of my garden. The fizzle sizzle seem to be hardy to zone 3 so hope for a long fall to enjoy the blooms this year!
That’s a dandy set of starter cells you have there. Where did you find those? Now that I know about starting pansies this early,I’m going to give it a go!
These are purchased from Amazon. I love them and have purchased two sets. I may purchase more this year. Here is the Canadian amazon product link amzn.to/4hqHgF8 If you want the USA amazon product link it is pinned above.

I love hearing about how you grow things!
@PrairiePlantgirl 🙂
It is so cold out, it was nice that you reminded us that spring is right around the corner. I don't even like pansies... lol
This time of year it is very fun to dream of spring!
I’ll start pansies as well. Also leeks, shallots and geraniums as they take a long time to grow. Thanks for the inspiration 😊
Great choices! I’ll be starting geraniums next month.

Spring can never arrive fast enough.

You're so meticulous, it's a delicate job.
It does take a careful hand.
