Howdy Brent! I've had a soft spot for the Orioles ever since the Eddie Murray/Cal Sr/Cal Jr/Billy days! If my A's don't make it (they're pretty banged up), I'm O's all the way for the WS:)
Great review and I love the unbridled passion you express in talking about; funny in a very good way. And pretty similar to Marco's comments. I've got Hornet Leader which I've found highly engaging but it seems that TAL takes things to a whole new level. Kudos. ~
My sister bought me this for Christmas, but it hasn't yet arrived--I can hardly wait! In the meantime, my brother and sister-in-law bought me Phantom Leader Deluxe, and I had a lot of fun playing my first mission, from the Cuban Missile Crisis campaign, while watching bowl games. I know I'll be re-watching this video once my copy of T/A Leader arrives, just to refresh rules and gameplay, before playing my first mission. Thanks much!
WOW. I have this game and Tiger leader 2nd ed. I really disliked Tiger leader despite being a massive WW2 nut. The thing i didnt like from Tiger was the fact I was always outnumbered in missions, felt like i was going through the motions. I was thinking of selling this one? How does this game improve on Tiger leader? If you wouldnt mind penning a few thoughts?
Ok, so your review made me purchase this game but I have a request. I've never been a card sleever and I don't know where to start. The ones you use in the video don't look to cumbersome so where can I get them and how do I figure out what size I need? And oh yeah, thanks for sending me down this particular rabbit hole!
Hi Chad :) The sleeves in this particular video are standard size "Pro-Fit" sleeves made by Ultra-Pro. 64mm X 89mm. Depending on the game, though, they can be a bit too snug. Still, a good sleeve that will protect your cards, look nice and not cost you an arm and a leg. I also use simple penny sleeves, also made by Ultra-Pro. They're cheap, but do the job, and the cards slide in and out quickly. A good way to start...particularly if it's a game you're not sure you're going to like. You can pick these up at just about any FLGS or online game retailer. Glad you're enjoying the videos :)
Which game put you off the DVG "Leader" series initially? I have Phantom Leader Deluxe and this game, and I think they are both VERY good, but in totally different ways. Amazing given that they are based on the same mechanics.
Paul Vallack Howdy Paul, and welcome:) It was U-Boat Leader. It was one of my earlier reviews. A two-parter. Here's a link to pt 1 if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/u0hUXZXQ1TM/v-deo.html
I recently picked up a second hand copy of the GMT version of this game. How much difference is there between the two? Obviously this version is much more polished. Great videos. I'm enjoying watching your reviews.
Howdy Sean :) Afraid I've never seen the older GMT productions of the Leader series, although I've been aware of their existence. Can't really comment on the differences. Glad you're enjoying the videos :)
Sean Gewecke The GMT version is quite similar but actually a bit more complex than the updated DVG version. For example, the GMT version included friendly ground units that you fought alongside of and rules for their interaction with the enemy units. The graphical presentation is a bit dated (the game is 20 years old), but is not exactly a weak stepsister to the new DVG version.
Great review as usual. I'm sold. Love your videos, man.

Thanks :) Glad you enjoy them!
Great game! As a huge Orioles fan, I hope to see our teams meet up in the ALCS.
