  • Sabha Parva: Details of the gifts given
Duryodhana said, ‘O King Dhritarashtra! I shall explain the gifts given by the kings to my enemy Dharmaraja.
Kambhoja-king gifted him with expensive clothing, 300 multi-coloured & parrot beaked horses, 36 high breed camels & another 36 high breed horses.
Vysyas & shudras brought with them 100 crores of wealth & many golden pots, yet were left waiting at the main door due to the queue of people waiting to offer gifts to the king.
Kuninda the best among brahmins gave Dharmaraja a glittering conch encased in gold & having 1000 golden coins fixed on it. It previously was Vishwakarma’s ornament. The Pandavas lovingly gifted this to Arjuna, who repeatedly bowed to it & then accepted it.
This conch blowed on its own each time 1 lakh people were fed. Its loud sounds reverberated everywhere depleting the kings of their radiance & causing them to swoon. Even I swooned. Only Dhrishtadyumna, Pandavas, Satyaki & Krishna steadily withstood that sound. Seeing us who swooned they laughed, which was a terrible insult for me.
Arjuna gifted that Brahmin with 500 excellent bulls with horns encased in gold.
Kuninda also gifted them with gold, expensive clothing & many other objects. King Sumukha gifted to Dharmaraja many expensive treasures. The Kashmir-King brought many bunches of sweet grapes.
Yavanas brought many horses from the hills that run at the speed of the mind; many expensive seats, unique blankets & many unique jewels but with all these gifts they were left waiting at the main door.
Kalinga-King Shrutayu brought many expensive gems, many conches from the Southern Ocean, expensive clothing laden with gems which he had obtained from many kings and which he now offered as tribute to Dharmaraja.
Pandya-king brought 96 huge sandalwood logs from Durdara mountain & equal number of conches. The Chola-Kerala kings brought sandalwood, agaru, pearls & rubies.
King Asmika gave 10,000 cows all of which had horns encased in gold, had gold chains around their necks & were accompanied with calves.
Sindhu-king gave 25,000 fine Sindhu-horses ornamented with gold chains. Sauvira-King gave more than 300 chariots pulled by elephants. Avanti-king who brought thousands of costly ornaments, pearl chains, armlets & 10,000 female-attendants was standing at the door awaiting entry.
Dasharna & Chedi kings offered many expensive gifts. The king of Kashi gave 80,000 cows, 800 elephants & many expensive gems.
Videha-king Krtakshana and Kosala-king Brihadbala offered 14,000 high breed horses. Shaibhya along with subordinate Kings & Trigarta-king along with Malavas offered expensive gems. In addition, each king individually offered limitless expensive chains, pearls & other ornaments.
100,000 dark-complexioned female servants of the Karpasika province who were decked with many golden ornaments, offered their services with total devotion in the Yaga.
Shudras of the Bharukaccha gifted the Brahmins with many deerskin & horses from the Gandhara province.
The farmers who live on the other side of River Sindhu and who are totally dependent on rivers & rains for crop cultivation brought different types of gems, goats, horses, cows, gold, donkeys, camels, honey, blankets etc. Despite this, they were left waiting at the door.
Along with Bhagadatta, the Yavanas brought high breed horses & yet were left waiting at the main door. Only Bhagadatta could enter. He offered a huge bhanda made of diamonds & many swords with handles made of pure ivory.
I have personally seen hundreds of kings from faraway lands arriving with limitless gifts & kept waiting at the door for entry.
King Dhritarashtra! All these kings had brought with them limitless silver ornaments & 10000 black neck, huge-bodied mules born near River Vankshu & which could travel great distances. After offering, they proceeded to the yagya hall.
The Kings of Ekapa province brought with them many rainbow-coloured female horses which travelled at very high speeds.
Hundreds of Kings from Cina, Shaka, Odra, Barbara provinces; the forest dwellers of the Varshneya, Hara, Huna, Krishna, Himavat, Nipa, Nupa provinces who had brought 10,000 black-complexioned huge mules which could run hundreds of miles at quick speeds, many costly garments made of deerskin and silkworms in the Bahli and Cina provinces, clothes made without any cotton, many costly swords, different weaponry, many axes which came from the western lands, many different juices, perfumes, gemstones as gifts, were left waiting at the door.
The Kings from Shaka, Tsushara, Kanka, Romasha, Shrungi, and other lands were also waiting at the door with gifts.
Even those who had brought 1 arbuda male elephants, 100 arbuda horses & 10 trillion gold were left standing at the door.
    (1 arbuda = 100 million)
