    At 74 years old I still can’t believe I got to fly this magnificent piece of machinery. The most fun anyone could ever have.

    My memories of flying the T-38 at Moody AFB in 1971 are priceless!!! Honored to have flown it and the C130 on active and reserves for our nation. USA!!!

    Still remember standing on the upstairs balcony of a training school at Sheppard AFB in 1977 and watching these graceful trainer jets repeatedly doing take-offs and landings. They sported the all-white color scheme back then. Can't believe they're still in service.

    The T-38 is one of the best planes ever made in my opinion. Given that it is 50+ years old, it still flies at many AF bases on a daily basis. The longevity, the low cost, and the ease of maintenance makes it possible to still keep them flying all over. Just in Texas, on any given weekday, there will be dozens of them flying out of Laughlin, Sheppard, and Randolph bases. Every day!

    My first solo flight In a T-38 was just about 53 years ago. A wonderful aircraft and once you got it mastered it was a lot of fun to fly.

    This is Excellent. Get them flying quickly in months. I've seen plenty of F-18's or perhaps of F-16's out there. Very good to fly Advanced Jet's in our Squadron.

    I've always wondered how aircraft with huge speed ranges make slight adjustments in speed (as needed to fly in tight formations). It seems to me that the same control used to go up to 700 mph wouldn't be fine enough to change speed by just a little.

    what is a T-38 supposed to most closely resemble in flight characteristics for the benefit of the trainee? I was thinking that these were replaced by T-7 Red Hawk's some time ago. I stand corrected as this video shows a date of 2019.

    • @WatcherMovie008
      @WatcherMovie008 3 роки тому

      T-38 is meant to resemble at the time it was made, 3rd and 4th gen fighters within the USAF service. All of the hard work and strains you be feeling in a F-15 or F-16, T-38 is design to help you prepare for those real case scenarios. T-38 frame is also very simple, making it easy on new pilots if they should make a mistake in maneuvering, they can easily get out of a spin without suffering severe consequences. There is a debate between prop vs jet trainer aircraft but in the end both serve the purpose to prepare the pilot for real world scenarios when engaging in maneuvering scenarios, whether it be from combat or patrol.

      @@WatcherMovie008 --- was it scary doing maneuvering in the real McCoy (F-15's F16's, F18s, etc.) seems like it would scare the begeebers out of trainees and they could make a mistake and all sorts of weirdness going on.

      You didn’t learn how to drive in an Ferrari sports car because it would kill you if you made a mistake.
      You don’t put student pilots in the aviation equivalent of a high end sports car for similar reasons.

      Nothing modern day, built at the time of the F 100 series of fighters for high performance high wing loading high speed stuff. But if you can fly a t38 and keep up with stuff, you can probably fly anything. Very pitchy due to its speed, takes a lot of airspace to turn vertically or horizontally in, and pretty unforgiving despite its role as a trainer. These guys are anything but smooth, but this could be students at the controls. Instructors should pretty much look dead perfect....a least in my day😂😂😂
