In CoP you play as Major Degtaryov, not Strelok (Strelok even appears as an NPC in the plot). And in the true ending of SoC Strelok destroys the C-C and makes it out alive. CS is a prequel to SoC in which we get to know how some of the unexplained things in SoC happened. This includes Strelok's tattoo and his loss of memory. It's pretty simple when you get it.

Though it is a shitty ending for everyone who isn't Strelok, the surviving stalkers of Clear Sky are reprogrammed to fight for the monolith faction, however, Strelok's memory is wiped. This is where the C-Consciousness made it's mistake. It had thought Strelok had survived the emission and escaped, and they wiped the memory of one stalker and sent him out to kill him. Little did the C-Consciousness know, that stalker was Strelok. Begin Shadow of Chernobyl.
no no chronically it goes Stalker Clear Sky then call of Prypiat and then shadows of chernobil because at the end of Shadows in every ending Strelok dies (or go to sleep with siencist) so how could he be in call of p. then? hmm? in Clear sky we know that Strelok made it into the heart of the chernobil in call of pryp we know that the goverment use him to lead them into the sarcofag BUT something happened.. something that powerfull that it crushed all conwoy of troops and only Strelok survive
