Kramer was an old costume jewelry manufacturer. They probably put the tags on at the factory, and it was sent to john random store. 03:02 Scarf clip, from back in the 80s. The little female is "black forest" carving , souvenir of Austria or Switzerland or some such. The dangle was a Thai temple dancer, originally an earring. Could be 50s, could be last week. The same design was made forever. It's silver. 09:40 Vendome was the higher end line from Coro. Nice stuff. I was looking at the round red screwbacks sitting upside-down on the floor. They look like bakelite, and if so are the best thing in the bag. No one individual piece is big money, but Renee can make her money back at the flea without much trouble.

FYI for future reference... make sure to undo the necklace clasps, that will help with the untangling!! Fun bag!!

    • @gpckoleco
      @gpckoleco 8 місяців тому

FYI for future reference... don't undo the necklace clips. because in a tangle like that, a paired pendant or charm could potentially be unpaired inadvertently. Just taking the time with the sorting is all that's needed. If one needs to undo the clasp that's fine but be sure to handle with care.

I have loved untangling jewelry since my Mama asked for help straightening her jewelry box in 1957! More fun than jigsaw puzzles. Start by separating fine chain necklaces using 2 sewing needles. Bliss.

I know, I saw that yesterday, so sad. Pee Wee's Playhouse was one of my favorite shows growing up. I had, well still have, the playhouse and all of the figures to go with it, plus my talking Pee Wee doll, Chairy, and a few clothing items that feature the Playhouse. Can't fit the clothes anymore obviously, but so glad that they were kept!

I love going thru old jewelry. I spent many afternoons going thru my grandmother's big black leather jewelry box. I now own that same jewelry box. I've kept all the jewelry that I got in it. My sis and I went thru it all and shared with our niece and sis in laws. Nothing of much value except a few but there was a lot of old costume in it.

I was going to post that whole sale scenario is a bit "wonky." It's been going on , not only for months, but a couple of years. I, too, saw the ad and noticed he's getting creative, as far as not publishing the exact address. Having been there several times, last year, and once this year, I checked.......I think the only estate they are cleaning out are......"storage unit estates and clean outs." Buyer beware.........and yes, you are correct, the prices are "high." That bag was there since the last time I went....maybe 4 or 5 weeks ago. On another note.........I did pick up, at an estate sale, some items that are right up your alley. and are an early Christmas gift for you, .....vintage Easton/P'burg high school trinkets and one interesting sweatshirt. 😜 You must have been out of the area to miss this. Don't worry.......I got ya' covered! Hope to run into you soon.

Individual pieces were hard to see because they were out of focus. Siam ( now Thailand) Niëllo silver pendant @ 8:46. Worth only a small amount because there is so much of it around. Other than that, it was just about all junk jewelry. Sorry!

The little dancer you asked about (at 8.44) is Thai silver, which is usually wrought on a black background. Very pretty and popular in the '50's and '60's. It was quite valuable at the time, although I don't know how it is now. I liked this sort through, interesting to watch. As a crafter some of the necklaces would work well broken down for the beads for craft work. I use them on catches and spines of some junk journals. Love your videos.

Great to hear from you again, Renée. Uff, that was a lot of detangling work for a bunch of costume jewelry. I don´t think that you overpaid this lot, it´s excellent flea market merchandise. Just keep the copper bracelet, it will fit you perfectly ! 👌
By the way, Renée: I remembered your recent enthusiasm on the Nuremberg Chronicle from 1493, got into contact with an old book collector and think that a second package with a similar content might follow soon. Promises, promises...I can´t promise anything, but will try my very best. We shall see...🤞Have a good one (very humid and a little bit rainy over here, but just around 60 degrees Fahrenheit), and keep up your excellent work ! 👍Greets from GER, U.

The silver (800 parts) is made in Indonesia. The grey part is called niëllo. It is a silver and lead powder, melted on top of the engraved picture and then polished. A very old goldsmiths technique. It is not toxic to wear. That pendant will pay back the entire jewelery bag.👍🏻greetings from a goldsmith from the Netherlands.🙋🏻‍♀️😘

LOL -- Cupids .... when I first saw them I thought "flying pigs!!!"
Yeah .... that "Siamese" piece is interesting .... my mom had a full set (necklace, bracelet, earrings) of that particular pattern.
"Siam Sterling jewelry was manufactured from the 1930s through the 1980s, and was a very popular motif in the 1950-60s. Although Siam officially changed its name to Thailand in the 1940s, the “Siam” nickname for this style of jewelry stuck.
Siam silver is officially called “Nielloware.” Niello is a black mixture of copper, silver, and lead, used as an inlay on engraved or etched metal. American soldiers who visited Thailand in the mid-20th century bought this jewelry for their ladies back home, making it a popular mid-century trend. Much of the filigree was etched by hand by Thai artisans."

To the right buyer you can double your money. If you can't easily double your money on something then there's something wrong. On a lot of items that I'll buy I double up but I marked the price higher than what I paid for it. Like if I got a 1984 McDonald's watch for $3 I would easily sell it for $10 or more at a thrift meet. It just depends on what people are willing to pay for something.

Wishing I was there - I love to untangle those knots of jewelry! Always a surprise and lots of fun for me! Do you have a loupe? Check for the markings, any clasp tags, silver content, etc.. Are your ears pierced? I love those red earrings too! My late Mother always wore clip on earrings. Love your collection today! Blessings always, ✝

Vintage thinbles can sometimes get some good money...more than one would think. It's worth doing some research. Anywhere from 5-100 dollars.

I can sit for hours untangling jewelry. Same with tangled yarn. It’s rather cathartic for me. Plus you get so much satisfaction when you succeed.

I remember being young and all my friends would get me to unknot their shoelaces because I thought it was fun lol.
