Home Alone 2 FILMING LOCATIONS Then and Now

- In this video you will see the Manhattan, NYC filming locations used for this classic sequel. "My family is in Florida and I'm in New York." In the montage: The Empire Diner, China Town, The Statue of Liberty and The World Trade Center will all be seen. The fish market where we first see the now Sticky Bandits to the subway stairwell they exit out on to 6th Ave will be up next. Then it's off to the Central Park area where we see the Pigeon Lady and The Plaza Hotel. The chase scene spots will also make an appearance in this video from the necklace vendor back to the Plaza. See the spot where Harry and Marv wipe out on the beaded necklaces. Following that is where they get punched by the French woman and then its off to Bethesda Terrace/Fountain. Where Kevin goes to get into a cab and wisely gets out is right up the street from where he slips on the ice. The Children's Hospital is also in this video, where he says the boy in the window. I managed to get to the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center but at the time of my visit, they weren't letting people get close. Enjoy.

Man, everything looks so vanilla now. Back in the day seemed so much more happy and colorful
Agreed! And happy holidays to you as well!
Everything looks vanilla because of Covid.
It’s because of Covid
Movie filtert... Adds alot of 'character'
You can thank the governor of NY for that! NY is a shit hole now!
The 90's, a much happier time and place, being from the UK, I was fixated on going to NYC, to the top of the World Trade Center because it was prominent at the beginning of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and of course Home Alone 2, in March 1998 I fulfilled my dream, good times, fond memories ❤️
That’s special stuff!
Yeah well the Rudy mayor cleaned up New York and made it good again but remember the 70s and 80s were a time when New York was a ghetto and was severely unsafe because of crack epidemic
Yes, the 90's were the best in music, movies, and tv shows!
@@LiLgPnoy15 eh they were better than now but the 80s were the best in movies and music in my opinion
p0
One of my favorite Christmas movies! So cool to see you go through these scenes!
Same here! Thanks a lot Milone and Happy Holidays!
It really is. Home alone 1 and 2 are the embodiment of my youth. Best memmories ever
Same here
Life was so much simpler, happy, a lot more personable people were, and you actually had to walk into a store to buy something. It’s way more convenient now but I wish we could go back to that it seems so much more like real life.
well said, i agree with you.. life was just better back then, i want it back haha
Miss the 90s
This is real life too, just different
Woman in shorts (at 11:17) in the middle of December? Looks like she mixed up her flight to Florida with New York as well.
Haha good one and that’s NY weather for ya these days.
Dude, mad props for doing the tour for us!
Thanks a lot!!
This video was touching... Christmas time in New York is so iconic. Excellent movie. As always my friend, we have no clue how you do what you do, but boy are we glad you do it. Nobody brings us along on these Then and Now tours like you do, nobody! Thank you for always taking us on this epic journey. Stay cool 😎
I couldn't be happier to hear that guys! Hearing things like that really make this come to life. I have to say, no one does Christmas like New York..not even France LOLLL. Thank you so much for this touching comment, it really means a lot! You guys rock!!
🤘🏼😎
The effort that went into this video is incredible. Thanks for this video man, one of my favorite movies.
Glad you appreciated and enjoyed it. Thanks a lot for that thoughtful comment!!
My heart tho when you got to the World Trade Center. No words needed just a melody to reflect on what was, what we lost and how we've come back from it.
Well, yea, partially. Looking at the Afghanistan blunder last year ... and to this day the WTC still not fully rebuilt.
This was absolutely brillaint, you have detailed everything and that's what I love. Been waiting for a proper location video on this film. Well done
Thanks a ton!
I love these its crazy how in 29years everything change 😩
It is crazy
Super crazy
When you showed the twin towers 😭
yep they should have been rebuilt never let Terrorists win they make the new york manhatten skyline
EeeS FROOM RAASSIA LES.... .... ... GOOO
@@tommagic100 I feel like the memorial is better tho to the ones that we lost that day
I'm going to build twin tower in 2027
@@tommagic100 it was your gov, and you let your terrorists gov win by still voting for them lol
Awesome to see the locations in person 😀 Just got done watching the movies 👍
Very cool! Thanks a lot!
This is a FANTASTIC video. Must-watch for a Home Alone 2 fan. Love the nostalgia you add with your commentary throughout...ex: "this is where Kevin would have slipped on the ice"
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks a lot!
90s was the best era full of life full of good people
Now everything is F***ed up
The 80s were a lot better because ragen was preident
Social media now show how fucked up it always was
You can say the same thing about every single era. Tbh things have always been f'd up. We just have to focus on the good.
@@anthonymessina585 Ehhh...
Remember when you're generation was going to make it better, to only grow up to see just how f'd up it is. Who did this?
Such a neat film to showcase perfect fit for the holidays locations then now
Thanks a lot Nathan!
"Howdy do, this is Peter Mccallister the father. I'd like one of your finest rooms with an extra large bed, a tv, and one of those little refrigerators you have to open with a key. . . Credit card? You got it!"
Today the Kids dont know what kind of thing Kevin uses and why the voice sounds that different...its a cassette/finger/speed thing...were old, we knows about.
I'm so glad I watched home alone 2 like 3 days ago. So the locations are still fresh in my mind
Awesome
I LOVE how much effort you went to to get the exact frames. Love this so much. An all time favourite movie. Well done x
That’s great to hear, thank you!
Last time I visited New York was back in 98' I visited the World Trade Center.
Looks way cleaner !
Oh yeah, a lot of changes since the 90s.. You are due for a visit, once we get back to normal!
@Versatile Wolf Ya, what ever fool
@@SoCalUrbex74 I care! I briefly visited NYC on a business trip in 2018. I was only there for a weekend and didn't get to do any sight seeing. I hope we both get to go back one day and see the city one day in the future. May the new year be brighter for everyone!
@@SoCalUrbex74 sadly the 2000's kids can't see the trade center, what was it like being on top?
@@thegamerthatisaussie8748 I remember riding a train the dropped me off right under the towers, got out walked around for a while, it was like walking around a Shopping Mall, but way more active. I didn’t have a chance to go just took quick pictures and moved on
Nick, just wanna say thanks for the amazing content you put out. I check out lots of these movie location videos on here, but your stuff is head and shoulders above them. Genuinely look forward to each new one you do.
Best wishes from Ireland 👍
I really appreciate that awesome compliment! It really is amazing to hear from people from so many different countries around the world. Thanks a lot Keith.
I love this guy, perfection every scene. Amazing home alone one of my favourite movies of all time.
Thanks a lot!!
I love both movies! They just never get old.
Agreed!
Same here
It looks like they have changed almost everything. Yes, the stuff is still there but it is different looking and changed. That's too bad. I liked the way things looked in 1992 better.
Just in time for the holidays! Thank you!
Indeed.. Happy Holidays and Thanks a lot!
Love this!. I may get hate but i actually prefer the sequel to the original. Also i love the Empire Diner, i used to go in there at midnight for the blue plate special when i lived there for a bit. You have yourself a new subscriber! :)
That's classic, literally, the blue plate special from the Empire Diner... I think many people, especially New Yorkers prefer Part 2. I equally like them both lol... Thanks a lot!
What's on the blue plate special?????
I like the sequel just *slightly* better than the original, mostly because of the traps and when Kevin tricks the hotel workers with the movie he was watching. Cliff's reaction was hilarious!
New York was so different back in 1992. I miss the twin towers so much. That was the most epic scene in Home Alone 2 Kevin standing on top of one of the twin towers. So many things have changed and haven't changed since 1992. I have Home Alone and Home Alone 2 Lost In New York. New York is still a great city.
Well said about how certain things have changed and other things have not, and still great indeed. However, I know exactly what you mean overall.
I also agree, that is definitely the most visually iconic part of the movie. Two classics that belong in every home theater library.
Happy Holidays!!
Totally agree....it gives me chills every time I watch that scene from the movie...I am glad they didn’t delete it and kept it authentic to the period. 👍🏾😀
NYC is one of the many big cities suffering from being overused and exploited, which at the same time becomes over-sanitized, cold and unaffordable. A huge middle class is gone. It escalated in the 2000s. In the past years, it's become common hearing big news of another landmark business shutting down, or some building being bought and changed by developers. Sad. It's a blessing they filmed Home Alone in NYC when they did, because it was still very much NYC, perhaps a good balance of its natural grit beauty with better cleanliness and safety. I've always thought Home Alone 2 is a film to see NYC at its modern peak.
Yes the Towers should really have been rebuilt as they made the skyline of new york never let terrorists win
TOO BAD THE TWINS ARE GONE.
I love the first two home alone movies! Thanks for sharing! Nick p, you should start doing public tours of movie locations in NYC! Merry Christmas
CARL! That's great to hear bud... Funny, I have given that some thought and even looked into it... Thanks a lot Carl, and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Dude I’m in new York sat in Central Park right now! Been vlogging the locations and your videos helped me sooo much! I’m sat looking over the wollman rink on the rocks and I’m gonna go into the plaza and ask where the lobby is! Thank you so much
LOVE that courthouse square lot!
2:22 the moment most sad
rip of the victims to 9/11
Certainly, we feel heartbroken of that unexpected day.
Love this content so much!!!! 🤩 brilliant
So glad, thanks a lot!
Hey Nick! Great video for Christmas time! We love the Home Alone movies! We sure enjoyed seeing these places, thanks for the tour around NYC! It’s a bummer that you couldn’t go inside The Plaza Hotel and at least see the lobby. Are they just allowing guests inside? Hoping things get back to normal soon. Happy Holidays to you and your family! 🎄
That is great to hear! Yes, it was disappointing about The Plaza.. Can you believe it is flat out closed right now?.. Unreal. I parked right in front of it for a half an hour and no one even said anything. Impossible during normal times. I guess that was one positive but this craziness can't end soon enough. Thank you so much, and the happiest and healthiest of holidays to you and yours!!
I remembered when kevin was on the Twin Towers..
Still can't believe it's been 22 years..
Thank you!!! This is the best video for Home Alone 2 filming locations!!
Greatly appreciate that compliment!! Glad you enjoyed it!! Happy Holidays!!
I'm watching this video from Bosnia, this movie will be watched think for generations to come. Happy anniversary 30 years since the making of the film and which is watched every year 👏👏👏👏👏👏 time flies 30 years have passed
Wow! Indeed it does.. Speaking of which, Happy New Year!!
New York just looks so dead in this video. Total ghost town compared to pre-Covid.
Not dead, we just look like every other city in the country now. Hopefully when Cuomo and De Blasio are gone, things get better.
Watching this December 2021. Thank you!!
Man Nick you have an amazing way of sharing these Filming Locations you make it look so clear and your way of speaking on the Filming location is so smooth... One day I'll visit these places thanks for sharing these videos brings back my childhood movies in a new perspective... Happy Holidays to you and your family 🙏🏼

Such a great vid bro!
Glad you enjoyed it BROTHER! Thanks a lot!
Thank you for taking the time to go through some of our most beloved scenes in this great movie! It must have been time consuming as well as crazy dealing with all the people and traffic to get to each location. So once again, thanks bro!
This is amazing, thanks to you I can see something that I may never see with my own eyes.
I know the movie as well as anyone, regardless of age, but these places... you can just feel the magic. Keep recording because it's a great job. Greetings from Poland.
Loved this movie so much! You did a phenomenal job locating those scene locations. Wish I could’ve done that!
Glad to hear it! Thanks a lot! Hopefully, you can some day.
Great video! Like the over/under pics to illustrate the difference since the movie was filmed.
Glad you liked it! Thanks a lot!
Thanks for sharing your video about the movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York!

One of my favorite movie! Chris Columbus never disappoints. He's a childhood genius!
At home, home alone is a custom when winter comes.
Hello from France !

Great video, saw loads of home alone film locations, first home alone 2, nice touch on the twin towers section, no words were required 👌 really enjoyed that, thanks for taking time out to fo this
Thank you for appreciating it, and taking the time for the great feedback. Happy New Year!
I've watched many film locations from different people but you are the best one on UA-cam. It's very much appreciated. Keep up the great work.

Classic!!
0:53 I remember going to that diner in 2012. Delicious burgers there.
Nice, I never been there to eat. When they reopen I will have to sample the cheeseburger deluxe !
soo good!!! great xmas movies for all time!!!

Thanks a lot guys!
Oh man, you made my memories on fire right now thanks.
NY looks so clean comparing to previous times when they made HA.
Very cool.. Thank you!
One of my favorite movies. You did a great job on this! We are planning a New England trip later this year and have a few places it looks like you've made videos about on our list. I know the circumstances of everything are up in the air, but it would be cool to collaborate on something.
That's awesome and thanks for dropping by... I love this stuff lol. It would be a pleasure to collab on a future project!
Best locations tour I've ever seen for this film! Great job Nick!!
Thanks a lot!
Wow. Many thanks for your work and filming all locations. Cheers from Poland where Home Alone is the most popular and epic Christmas movie all the time !
That’s great to hear! My pleasure and thank you too!
Went looking for a video on Home Alone 2 and boy did I find a cracking one. Outstanding Nick. Visited NY in 2018 and did the usual tourist stuff, but the movie locations around the city are a visit itself. I did the Radio City picture, but I’ve now realised I past a LOT more than that thanks to your video. Top work mate and a Merry Christmas from the UK.
I really appreciate it, and I’m glad it helped you out.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!
Thanks a lot!
And the Plaza Hotel scenes, most of them were actually filmed in the famous Hilton Chicago, on Michigan Ave. Even the movie itself had me convinced that almost all the scenes took place in New York, while some were still filmed in John Hughes' notorious state of Illinois.
Yes, thanks for the info.
yep only the outside of the actual Hotel that stands out boldly in central park was used in the shot
Illinois is ok
Question: When its not iside the Plaza, why Kevin asks Donald Trump fro the way? Trump was the owner of the Plaza that time ind i dont think he filmed his short scene in Chicago...
This is so amazing thank you! ♥ I live in the Uk and always dreamt of visiting these locations, this has felt like a mission accomplished in some small way, I loved this video so much!! Thanks for making it I appreciate you!
Glad to hear this video helps fill that void, and hopefully you get there yourself one day! I greatly appreciate the feedback!

Nice! Well done, Nick!
Thanks a lot guys!!
New York City was so nasty and beautiful at the same time back in the 90’s but nothing change at all.
I agree.. So tough but so beautiful at the same time.. It was a place like no other. It's kind of mind blowing to visit places that are frozen in time. It's a also interesting when they have changed in other ways.
Dont forget 2001 and twins!
Rudy fixed it up
Great job! I love this movie so much and can vividly remember seeing it in the theater as a kid!
That’s special! Thanks a lot!
Really cool idea! New York is an ever changing city. Great work on showcasing past and present filming locations.
Thanks so much!
Fourth dimension courthouse square, Back to The Future?
🎯 Yes... Courthouse Square is right behind Brownstone St on the backlot of Universal Studios Hollywood. I made the 4th D comment because I was saying that at the Hospital location, visualizing the video. Ha, anyhow, nicely done.
@@NickP
Yes I knew what you were getting at Bud. I've been thru the backlot at Universal but one day I'd love to hop off the wagon and walk thru the town.
The very first episode of twilight zone was filmed there and its instantly recognizable. Also the theme is kinda like one lone dude stuck in another dimension.
@@lambjack1 Cool
You and me both.. I tried a couple of times but it’s tough with the constant shooting schedule. I know the episode and the first time I saw it I knew immediately. I’m also a big fan of the movie The Sting. It’s seen in that one too, along w Gremlins.
@@NickP
Good job. Just subbed. Merry Christmas!
@@lambjack1 Much appreciated! Merry Christmas to you too!
Thank you for walking us thru. Im so emotional to see my favorite movie come to life again.
I vividly remember Kevin visiting the statue of liberty after looking at it, instead of going to the twin towers.. he looked at a Asian family visiting the statue thru the binoculars..
I think what you’re referring to is known as the Mandela Effect. I myself, remember it the way it’s shown here. I think what happens sometimes is we mix things up with a clip or a scene from a similar movie or tv show and that’s what we remember. Another thing that happens is over time we forget details and our minds fill in the blanks and that in turn becomes the new memory. Then we rewatch the movie or show and get bugged out by what we see. Then again, sometimes things happen that no one can explain.
Great video. Thanks for the effort you clearly put into it.
Thank you!
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York this movie is released in 1992!
How do you know?
These pictures bring back childhood memories it was a classic holiday movie. I was 9 or 10 around Kevin age I think. Can't remember the yr it came out tho. But I was born in 82.

When home alone came out classic NYC was still a thing. It's kinda changed now. But I think COVID is what makes things appear extra different. Seeing the almost empty streets. That's just not NYC. It's supposed to b crowded! Lol
LOL. Agreed, I hope it makes a full return very soon!
9/11 too
Awesome to see the locations used. Thanks for doing this. 😊👌🏼
In movies, some scenes are not filmed at a real house or building, but in a studio
Kinda hard to film exterior shots in a studio or stage so most shots are filmed on location.
yes very true there Davin like the Nutty Proffesor 2 The Klumps which ive seen the studio rooms where each shot was taken each one of the rooms had a a video clip on a tv of the scene in each room at uvs Hollywood
This is my favorite Christmas movie lol it’s such a classic !
Love it...Thank you!
Cool video, but the best thing about these videos is the comparison shots...please leave the side by side comparisons up longer for us to see....but again, great video anyway and thank you for taking time out to do this for us
I know what you mean and I’m trying to but some clips are just short. I will do that where I can in the future. My pleasure, thanks a lot!
They should recreate the scene with Kevin and Trump today...
Hopefully Kevin doesn’t believe the lying corrupt media. It only takes common sense.
Nicely shot and edited video. Gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside thinking about that movie that I've seen so many times. Good work.
