Dauntless is one of those games that you can have a little fun with if you play with your friends then after a few days it gets boring and you delete it

I reckon this game should just add patrols and pursuit back, to go ALONG with hunting grounds. The idea of looking for a single behemoth and not relying on RNG to find what you’re looking for is much better than having looking for like half and hour to find what you’re looking for.
Agreed. Pursuits and patrols were also much more difficult and made the monsters a formidable force. Now the game just feels too much like an mmo and not enough like a monster hunting game.
@@cushionman2 kinda like pretty much yeah you can go to different islands and fight behemoths pretty sure that counts as open world like there is no story mode and you can do whatever you want so it is open world
I've been playing since years ago. This game has come so so far and it seems like the updates have either driven off longtime players or gave them mixed feelings. I LOVE all the changes, Omnicells included. I can understand how having your progress reset is annoying, but with the amount of content they've added I'm more than happy to level up again, especially since I didn't really optimize my gear or know how at the start.
For me personally, it wasn't really the 'reset' of progress. A lot of the combat 'reworks' or 'overhauls' weren't what they were hyped up to be. On top of the endgame loop basically revolving around filling an XP bar repeatedly for inconsequential bonuses to power, there was 0 incentive for players who kept up with the game to continue playing beyond the initial crumbs of new content. It's not really surprising that a lot of older players left, because a lot of the core longevity of the game evaporated in favor of accessibility to new players. Which, I don't think is a bad thing when it's taken as a balanced approach - but it wasn't. And still isn't. I'm glad you're enjoying your time with the game! I think more than anything, the game is much better suited for people who haven't invested that much time yet. If the endgame loop was better suited for meaningful longevity, I think a lot of the older playerbase would return.
@@givine You play until you're strong and skilled enough to easily kill any behemoth. My load out has Medic +6 and Rezakiri helm. I revive people in seconds and give them a light barrier on top. If I die, I come back with my own barrier and can revive another guy to full hp. I can solo hunts to 13 and if I'm on a team I usually hard carry. Thats my endgame
Been playing since closed beta, and ive heavily fallen off. So much of it has changed in what I'd argue for the worse. I look forward to what you will continue to do.
Yeah, dev's shitty ideas almost all the time basically. They don't listen to their fans' great ideas and just do mediocre stuff the majority of the time.
Its a shame, It was probably my second favourite Game to play, It gave me countless hours of fun with Friends. Then reforged came, I tried my best to like the new system but... I couldnt Look how they massacred my boy....
One of the games I probably put the most hours in since Diablo 2, Jedi Outcast and WoW. Something I now enjoy more than before is a game to just play for a few minutes and then log off again and Dauntless is perfect for that. Plus pve is a bit more chill imo. - no mad teammates.
Hearing your voice again really filled me with a lot of nostalgia. You were my favourite Dauntless creator and your guides really helped me become a better player. I'll definitely stick around to see what content you'll make now. Till then, have a good one.

I suggest to still play it! It's a good game. Generally I've had so much fun coming back in the game. I quitted it for abt 5 months because I got sick and tired 8f dying from beasts. But now it's much better

Started playing 1 week ago and I absolutely fell into it. I am not a big gamer anymore, but I spent like 6 hours daily playing this. After getting 5 weapons to 20, having around 10 items upgraded with aetherdust, every epic cell I like to have, it is getting a little boring tbh. But it is one amazing game. It can be very entertaining for like 2-3 weeks.
Exactly. I was intrigued for about 2 weeks before dropping it completely. If they can't even let your character climb a ledge reliaby... they fucked up.
@@Virjunior01 I feel like Dauntless is the exact opposite of Monster Hunter for me. I like both Titles, but Dauntless will always be the game where "playing" it and maneuvering your character will make MUCH MUCH MORE Fun and feel soo much better than in Monster Hunter, but then you're lacking in terms of content and sense of purpose in the game to even play it. Lack of content as in Story etc. and that is Monster Hunters strong point. I fking LOVED exploring every map of Monster Hunter, finding all the fodder enemies, all the little sht you can do, but fighting the big bosses was no fun for me at all. I fking hate the clunky feel from those long ass animations in Monster Hunter. If someday a Monster Hunter game exists with both aspects. The amount of content and details like Monster Hunter and the gameplay feel of Dauntless I'd love it to death. Speaking of I actually just now thought of a game that made me feel like it has both kinda aspects, it's Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen, but sadly no real multiplayer mode.
I’ve played this game since the beta. Ngl at the start was kinda meh, but when they added electric escalation I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE GAME. I remember grinding and being so hyped for umbra escalation. The game is kinda dead but it’s really good. I kinda prefer old dauntless but it’s a legendary game!
I played two years ago and I loved the fact that every fight was a bossfight, meaning, it took 20 minutes to beat one guy and there was only one on the map. I tried it a few months ago and I was disappointed, now you can kill one guy in a minute and there is unlimited spawning of them on small map.
that sounds like a lot more fun I've been playing for a little over two months now and now I get on kill 5 things and im already bored. It docent feel that rewarding at all to make a legendary item to me either. I've made one piece of chronovore and that's all even though I fought it 50 times. at a certain point you just start to think what the point and move on to something else.
@@jacksonsimones9884 trust me, it was amazing back then, you felt like real hunter. In team we were trying to find the beast and it took at least a minute sometimes even more. Then you throw a flare and wait for your team to get there. It took longer but you were happy once you killed it, also I have a feeling that the monsters were a bit bigger. There was one guy I think called stalker, purple tiger and it was impossible for me to beat him with best gear, now I think I could beat him alone in 3 mins
@@dieawill187 player base has dropped which is why theres now the new hunt system. Theres not enough players to consistently find matches the old fashioned way which im fine with. Although i am very annoyed at the new grindyness, the ffffffffu...cking chronovore parts grind
what? people liked that? i used to hate having to load a long time to fight 1 monster then leave, rinse and repeat. i love being able to boss rush multiple monsters. feels like monster hunter
Id definitelt suggest MHW over dauntless. No battle pass, no "pay to accelerate" which is just soft pay2win, much better graphics, also essentially the original version of dauntless's gameplay
Pretty sure all the weapons you see in stores are just skins because it says transmog But still the fact that you still need an item to change the skin of something is really annoying
I haven't been playing since the beta but I've been playing off and on for quite a while since before reforged and I have to agree with some people it has changed for better or worse. However I have watched a bunch of your videos and I enjoy them all, i look forward to whatever comes next
I was a relatively small dauntless streamer for a while. I enjoyed the game a lot. I played it for 2 years and had a lot of my gear maxed out and tons of different class set ups. I was able to carry groups of people through fire and shock escalations with like 80% success rate. And I had a low but loyal community behind me on twitch. But everything changed when the update to the progression system and hunting grounds attacked. Hunting grounds is cool and all but after having played the game for 2+ years and grinding all of the materials needed to upgrade my armor and weapons for specific builds, it was extremely disheartening when the progression system changed and it felt like majority of the time I had spent upgrading my gear became wasted. I no longer got to carry people through heroics. I now also had to basically restart leveling my weapons through their actual levels and not through upgrading them. It just felt horrible to play the game now as someone who was already in the end game levels. I felt like I had been reset. And the way that you had to basically prestige your weapons over and over and over and over, basically resetting your progression on the hunting grounds everytime just felt horrible. But last night I saw the “banked experience” thing in the slayer progression and I think it sheds some hope again. I can just bank a shit tone of weapon xp now and then prestige and still be near end game content levels on a weapon rather then fighting heroics and then having to go back to an ember name that literally doesn’t even catch on fire. I’ve also noticed some reworks to things like rage and ice born. Classes did start to feel pretty stale. I’ve born felt like a necessity sometimes, but also way too strong. So some of the cell changes seem exciting to me. I’m actually excited to try this game out again and to do some escalations

I enjoy playing and streaming, but in order to really grow you have to care about social media pages and advertising yourself and editing/creating UA-cam content. I just want to play games and stream them but whats the point if I am not growing due to literally not caring about doing the rest of the work. but I had started streaming God of War the other week on twitch. I joined dauntless somewhere before the voidrunner event and the evacuation, i still play the game but it feels like everything unique and fun about the original has been cut off, the battle pass used to be way more rewarding even when it was free, everythings about grinding and even the lore feel like a hassle in general it just feels like a different game, i really would love if they brought back the old version as its own game. I think the biggest difference is that with the classic you didnt need to actually upgrade to have fun, you just became stronger to help other players and for the sake of it, but now you have to unlock everything to do anything and even searching for lore feels like your just finishing off a checklist.
True legendaries weapons ar not even rare or unique anymore u just pick it up in the worlds. before reforge u farmed for the hunger and armor sets now it feels like everyone has them they ar pretty much free for taking.u would think if u had them before reforge u would get a free cosmetic for the legendaries
For me when I first started playing I instantly loved the game but after a while I just found the game to be repetitive and I just got bored and found other games I enjoyed more. But after about a year I decided to hop back in and I'm happy about it, I think this game has so much going for it but for some reason not many players. For me this game is one of the most fun games I have played so I just don't understand why people don't give it a second chance. I thought about never coming back to it, but I did and I think it's worth it. But I think why most people have left is because the developers have introduced whole new paths on the skill tree and then just straight up removed them, I think this deters people from wanting to come back because they fear everything they worked for will be removed in an update. But that's just my thoughts.
I gave it a second Chance,even thought they wiped my whole Progress 3 Times ( 1 of them was promised Not to Happen ) but when i came Back the cool Beta Version of dauntless was gone, gone was the cool and serious Tone of the Game with its Monster Hunter style hunts and hard encounters , replaced by a weird Multiplayer "Open world" Monster slaughter Party Gamemode . It Tried so hard to Not be Monster Hunter that it pushed all the good qualitys away and replaced them with weird Casual Multiplayer Stuff (Gamepass,hunting grounds,trials ,Prestige system ) , while also nerfing Most Fights Into oblivion Its Just Not the Same Game anymore and i dont know a single Person ( i was Part of one of the biggest German discord groups Back in founders/Beta time ) that still plays the Game , we all supported it because we though it would be cool to have a second monster Hunter inspired Game , and it truly was . But sadly they Took it and Changed it beyong recognition .
Some people end up not liking after some time 'cause they realize how bad the behemoths' AI is almost all the time, also the constant bugs, the bad mechanics, the bad ideas the devs bring into the game. Of course it has its great things, but some may find them to not compensate all the bad stuff. I used to love Dauntless with all my heart, but now the game is just dumb, the devs are terrible and just make bs excuses all the time, that's the worst part about Dauntless, its developers.
I just started playing recently. Just cause it was free 😂😂 now I play Dauntless over all my other games lol. It's fun, different, & definitely rewarding when you get a new upgraded armour or weapon.
DAUNTLESS DESERVES BETTER Ive been playing since its lelease and at the start it was very fun, i even watched ohdough when he was still new, i remember the good ol days when the biggest acheivement you could get was beating esc 10 to 50 solo
Despite It's general image as a Monster Hunter clone, Dauntless I have to say introduced some mechanics in which the whole genre needs. I feel Dauntless and Monster Hunter can learn a lot from each other in terms of mechanics, gameplay, overall feel, and enjoyability in the aspects of each game. Kudos to you Phoenix labs, Capcom will be watching your future with great interest. PS: I did start out as an mh fan and have grown to like both games for what they are. I want to see where the genre goes as of 5 years in the future.
Not in _this_ direction. I liked some of what DL did, but it's an inferior product, full stop. That's why others have tried and failed to replicate MonHun's success, while MonHun is about to be 20 years old.
Dauntless is one of my favourite games! I have been playing every monster hunter game since the psp days, but I switched to dauntless due to its lovely community and full cross play and cross progression, so I can do my trials on pc and do my casual hunts with friends on my Nintendo switch!
I just started playing Dauntless about 5 days ago and I gotta say it’s a really fun game with challenging monsters, clean smooth mechanics, enjoyable progression, and sick looking armor and weapons. I see myself playing this game for the long term.

Last time I played dauntless was like 2-3 years ago, and I was hunting for Rezakiri gear. Then I got back 3 days ago, and I found out I can hunt for Rezakiri, and I finally got my first Rezakiri armor piece.
Im so glad you made this video. My friend was telling me to play this game and I wasnt sure if I should download it. Seeing this video made me realise just how much better the game is than I originally thought and I'm downloading it rn.
I endured every change in the game, even the reforging thing which is just grinding for the sake of grinding and locking content constantly even tho I've been in the late game state for years...but what they did to the chainblades was too much. If you've never played it, sure, give it a try. If you're an old player coming back, also give it a try, but don't get too hyped.

While mentioning similar games to dauntless you defaulted to dark souls? Monster Hunter as a series is clearly the better analog. Also it has way more worldwide sales than the dark souls series. Don't be afraid to use it as a comparison, its a way more accurate description.
I watched this because 3 years ago I started playing it on my PS4, PC now. It got better but somehow worse, don't know man, feels like it's the same as 3 years ago :)
I remember the begging tutorial behemoth you first fought as soon as you launched the game for the first time. i don’t exactly remember what it was but I think it was Gnasher. I got the game in Summer 2020 and I remember the old dauntless Ramsgate. The game felt so great and I really loved how you could level up weapons up to +15. I also liked how you could unlock more behemoths things by playing main quests. I remember how the maps only had one specific behemoth in it and you had to search around the map for it. Don’t get me wrong I like the reforged update and I like how you can fight many behemoths on the maps and I like the slayers path as it feels more organized but the game at some point just gets boring. It becomes stale because there is a lack of content in endgame at least for me. Heroic Escalations and Dauntless Difficulty Trials are the only thing that is there for endgame players. The one thing I don’t like about reforged is leveling system. I think I just prefer the old one. I prefer old dauntless over reforged dauntless but both are still good. Back then the game also had a story. Like there is a reason why you have to do this. Now the quests are either rumors which take so long or are just quests which require you to kill the new behemoth that the game added. They need to add a new system or something really big and new once again. That is what will get players excited to play again. I was always thinking that they could add a new element like water or air. For water you can add a swimming feature where we fight behemoths In the depths of the ocean but I am not sure how that will work.

I understand that these changes helped and help the game attract more and more new players, but now the game looks like a dummy, it has lost its unique style, the gameplay in it has become extremely dull and not interesting, the senseless redrawing of weapons has only aggravated the situation of the game, I love this game, my friends loved it, but now "Phoenix Labs" as it seems to me just go around in circles, pretending that they give us something new. When I started playing it was the Torgadoro season, but after a week or two I uninstalled bc I didn't knew what to do and how to progress. Then months later reforge was announced and i tried to give another chance to the game, I started to like the game and this time I had a friend of mine helping me, we've been playing this game for so long that now we play just for the esca crowns.
Honestly i started playing dauntless a couple of days before the repeaters were first added , i stopped playing when the reforged update dropped cause i just felt alienated in dauntless, idk it doesnt give me the same feels as it used to, but o guess that's normal to most games that keep getting updated
I use to love playing dauntless, the grinding to upgrade my armour and weapons was quite fun, and getting the special weapons and armour from the elevation thing I think it was, was enjoyable, the main thing that ruined the game for me was the hunting grounds, once that was released dauntless just wasn't itself anymore, the satisfaction of killing a beast completely just was not fun anymore, you kill one and then just move on and the reforge for your weapons, I really don't think it was a good addition, basically, the game just fell off when hunting grounds was added
If you liked what it was the devs of Dauntless were heavily inspired by the Monster Hunter series so if you can find a sale on World or another game in the series I'd definitely recommend picking it up

I used to play this game so much, I loved it because of the fact that different elements had different damage against other ones. I quit once i reached that radiant boss. I remember playing with one of my friends and trying to beat that shock boss (I think there were 2 of them) Thank you for making this video, I will install it on pc instead of ps4
The main thing that drove me away was resetting ur weapons for aether hearts and the bonuses. It is so grindy and tedious, and it really is boring. U eventually do the same thing over and over. I am a Destiny 2 player and that game is grindy but fun and has tons of variety. When i get bored or pissed in PvP i used to come to dauntless but now dauntless is more repetitive and grindier than even Destiny
I have left the game for a while, I may return to it! But I can say, the game gives so much pleasure! There are many changes that I am still not totally aware of, I was hoping you may go thro the different new modes that came! But I see that the core of the game and the playstyle are still legendary and it makes me always open up to hop in and play whenever I want! This game helps connect with other people especially if they play on different platforms! For new players, this is your way to go, give the game a shot with friends, and play it for a week or so! Get the hang of it! Then judge if the game is not for you that is alright! You still will have fun on this small journey!
I first played Dauntless during the closed beta and I loved it at the time. Being a fan of Monster Hunter and that genre of game I was super excited to see what I thought was a contender at the time. And I wasn’t disappointed, Dauntless’ unique array of weapons were so vastly different from the few I used in Monster Hunter that it was a breath of fresh air. I gravitated to the sword and war pike heavily. But after awhile I ran into the same problems I usually do with games, burnout. The arcadey feel started to seep in and I left the game. My monster hunting thirst was slacked cause Monster Hunter World: Iceborne had just released and I went off to play and I’ve comeback a couple times since and was impressed with some things and not so much with others. But I’m gonna give it another shot and see what new things they’ve added to the game.
i have a love hate relationship with this game. on one hand i love that this game interduces new players to this style of game where you hunt big monsters and is just a boss rush the entire game but on the other hand, it doesn't do enough the game it self doesn't have much of a soul and the art and gameplay feel really lack luster at times. to anyone who plays this game and want's more please try playing monster hunter (either rise or world) or Toukiden 2. they are both great game franchises that are just better dauntless. also i am not saying this to put anyone down for liking dauntless it's a decent game.
As a player that has 100 reforges on axe (No Cap) I felt the spectrum of emotions while playing dauntless and while I I'm taking a break from Dauntless I can say that in a few months Ill come back to it here and there.

@@mrxerxes7947 Well at "Endgame" there is nothing to do since you've completed all the content that's available and since I didn't want to run round One shoting everything I just Reforged and Reforged soon I got to 20 then 30,40,50,60,70,80,90,100 although to be honest I hit Reforge 65 I felt the tediousness of Reforging so I had some help from some dauntless streamers from twitch that helped get me through the grind as I was feeling that it was boring doing it solo.
I remember playing this game a lot 2-3 years ago. I was unfortunately hit with a data reset (I'm on ps4 btw) which deleted all my games. A couple days ago I reinstalled it and my progress made it through the reset. It's still as fun as I remember.
Considering you are a dauntless youtuber, you've undoubtedly heard this a million times, but I must say, if you're burned out on Dauntless but enjoy the gameplay loop of hunting monsters to make gear out of said monsters, try Monster Hunter World, or Monster Hunter Rise, they're the easiest titles to get into and are worth every second
I actually played a lot of MHW a fair bit. I think the one thing that is a pretty sharp delineation between the two games (Daunto and MHW) is the style of combat. I just couldn't get into MHW's combat, even after around 500 hours of playtime/endgame play.
i played before the reforging of the weapons was around and i think the reforging is a curse but also very nice for new players (for players that spent days in dauntless before the reforging it is really annoying cause it changed all sets and cells and so the old sets didn´t work anymore at that was annoying ) i still have an older axe set where the iceborne cell was still a thing and it doesn´t work anymore cause old iceborne was much stronger then the new one
Short answer for me No Everything sucks in Dauntless now, Power Surging should not have exist, reforging SHOULD be optional, levels shouldn't affect your performance against Behemoths, in fact it shouldn't have exist, the previous system of leveling gear up via upgrading it from 1 - 20 was fine, Omnicells where a nice addition at first as the meta was practically discipline ice borne rage and ur good to go, now we have more variety but all the Omnicells feel very underwhelming Iceborne is mediocre, Discipline is a 50/50 works and doesn't work, Tempest is mediocre, Revenant if you wanna kill urself, and what tf is Artificier, and then the Chain Blades "rework" oh boy, I really expected a lot since they managed to make Sword actually viable and warpike to be better, but no its worse than it was before, and feels so clunky to play, being a new player also sucks since u gotta spend so much time reforging and opening patrol chests if u wanna get aether hearts and reforging itself is doo doo, Heroic Esca is also garbage as it isn't "Challenging" its just a bunch of one shot mechanics and now the meta definitely got even worse, current state of the game is not okay and is probably somewhat fun if you have 2-3 good endgame gear but even then its still frustrating
I tried to get back into it like 6 months ago, and i felt like it's not worth playing compared to what it was before. The open world update butchered the game, from a unique game to "we swear we are not Monster Hunter World" The need to reset your weapon for 1% more power is a sad design choice, locking you from higher content even if you are playing with stronger friends while forcing you to do stuff you already did for no reason. The strongest point of dauntless was the combat, anything that blocks you from engaging with it, be the wasteland of a open world map or the boring "reforge" grind, shouldn't be in the game.
@@comsox4915 once you pop in some headphones and listen to music while just slaying behemoths over and over again without returning to ramsgate after each hunt its pretty good but I think that how the reforge system resets your power is really dumb
There's no lock, you can get in anywhere when its private- no level walls there. Reforging sont recquired anymore with alternative of purely sparks. If anything reforging is to master your skills and burn through behemoths more effeciently.
I was alerted that a Centipede and Black Widow remaster are free in the Epic store right now, and I noticed a Dauntless Add-On is free, leading me to discover Dauntless ITSELF is free! So I thought I'd move past the glossy ads to see actual gameplay, THIS excessively timely video - uploaded 3 days ago - pops up, LOL! PERFECT! What's weird is that this seems like an identical concept to Horizon Zero Dawn and recently released sequel Forbidden West, except looking less glossy/advanced. I mean, all three could be described as hunting dinosaurs in a medieval setting with a spicing of technology! And I think all have crafting items using hunted materials! I think I might actually grab this. If it's PERMANENTLY free then IDK, if it's temporary like Black Widow and Centipede then I'll get it while I can.

@@badbilly7499 guild rework can impact heavily gameplay mechanics by territory conquests for an exemple. Skyfishing and a farm can become end game content for veterans chilling with their friends. A calm, peace and customizable place for happy time with guild/friends. Glider course will need more rewards to be interesting i think. We still wait for Pets too. They can change the gameplay too by killing stygians or smollusks or buff slayers

Territory conquests? this is a monster hunting game. sky fishing and "personal houses" to chill...this is a monster hunting game. glider course....this is a monster hunting game. So pets would just be lanterns? Killing/buffing isn't anything NEW. Literally nothing you said enhances the core game. Like I said they are just trivial novelties that don't make the core game any better.
I just returned haven't played since 2020 and now there is the slayer path you can keep fighting behemoths now in a level I don't even arrive on islands with people anymore and you don't start in the ship anymore and it doesn't show how much weapon power or Armour power you have anymore and it used to show what was effective like if you were going against a embermane you would need some type of fire armor and a frost weapon it don't do that now its so different now from back then in 2020 I planned on taking a small break but didn't return till recently it's been almost 2 years maybe even 2 years since I played the game is very fun again I like that there is more behemoths in a lvl now too
My last achievement from 2020 was on March 9th I defeated shrowd and rezakiri so yea probably 2 years think I stopped in either March April or May but yea the game seems much better now and now you need those aether things to lvl up your weapons and armor its kinda confusing since everything is different since I haven't kept up with the game for a long time it got annoying fighting op behemoths and trying to grind certain body parts to get new weapons and armor I think that's why I quit but I'm back and I think it's worth playing im having way more fun then I think I ever did back then and what's with the shitty hunt pass they use to give emotes slayer skins etc now it's rams coins patrol keys combat merits and all this random stuff I don't really care much about but either way I missed this game hopefully they still add new behemoths and all that
The recorge update, and omnicells absolutely crushed this game. I mean, back to back absolutely horrible changes that gutted the game and nerfed virtually everything. No game could survive that, certainly not dauntless. It's a shame, it was such a great game with monumental potential. It was at one point in my top 10 games. Now, I wouldn't even play it if I was paid to do so.

I'm currently downloading the game, and by some of the comments I've seen so far I believe the updates are what drove off the players from longer ago. If anything in my opinion, id say that its better fitted for people who've never played before.
I absolutely hate how they got rid of singular hunts, it felt more personal and you actually had to track the behemoth down. I don’t see why they couldn’t have kept it
I fell off the game a little after reforged, mainly because they were trying to balance the weapons and ended up changing hunts, I miss the old ways to hunt behemoths where you actually had to track the behemoth down and chase it if it ran away.
Hmm I haven’t played in like 2 years, so do you not run around with your group at the start now to find the monster, I feel like redownloading it on my pc (I used to play on Xbox) just to see how different it is
The way hunting works now is that you can have 6 slayers on one island that has a couple of behemoth types that spawn there, once you spawn you immediately know where the behemoths are because they have icons floating over their heads, You don’t need to track them down, and they don’t flee at all, you run up to a behemoth and slap it around until it dies and go to the next one, it’s basically mindless running back and forth. I know it makes hunting and grinding easier but I don’t see why they couldn’t have kept the old hunt as a separate mission type, because I liked actually tracking the behemoths.

Ive been playing this game for 5 days at the time of creating this comment, and my repeaters skill is already at max level (i am a professional no life). I put 5 bucks into some transmog stones for a fashion, but thats all the money ive spent. That gives you a general idea of how hooked i am on the game. I will say that MHW is better in terms of graphics and gameplay, and yeah, dauntless' behemoth attacks can have bugged hitboxes/BS combos, but its still gonna be a fun time, a game that promotes teamwork above all else. We need more pve games like this tbh
Monster hunt world is one of the few games that I could never really get into,it felt too grindy for me so it's nice to have something that's not as complex
This game is fun if you dont play it hardcore. Once you learn everything about the game you find its absolutely garbage from hitboxes, bugs, interactions, bugs, constant dev oversights, bugs, lack of direction, glitches, and most importantly the amount of bugs. This is one of those games you play for a month and then move on until it gets updated come back play for a day or 2, realize the update was nothing special and then wait for the next update. Ill prolly redownload it to try the radiant stuff next week then delete again after im so underwhelmed by the actual new stuff and seeing all the same old problems.

Newer player, just hit chain blades 16, so far it is a fun game, only kind of annoying this is having to farm the same behemoths over and over for armor but I guess what else do you expect
Didn't liked new system where you have to reset progress. Too grindy. So after like 1.5 year playing I left the game. Still I had a good progress, 50 level, gold crown and a lot of stuff.
I've been playing for a little over two months now and now I get on kill 5 things and im already bored. It dosent feel that rewarding at all to make a legendary item to me either. I've made one piece of chronovore and that's all even though I fought it 50 times. at a certain point you just start to think what the point and move on to something else.
Been with the game since the closed beta, but it's been a bit of an on/off thing. The last time I really played actively and put a large amount of time into the game was before Reforged. Also, I gotta say, for all the gameplay improvements they've put in, I feel like the overall narrative elements of the game really got gutted. Like, back in the day, certain hunts were part of story quests, you did them for a particular reason and it felt like more of a natural progression, you'd unlock new maps and new Behemoths because you technically got a promotion. I also deeply despise the new prologue, it's such a downgrade narratively. You used to have your very own character intro section to show you the ropes and tie in your character narratively, now it just has you play as Kat for the tutorial and then your character is sort of dropped into the world from out of nowhere. Right now, I just got mixed feelings on the game. It has gotten better in some aspects, but also much worse in others.

5:08 Pay2Win is... whenever you can pay to either get stuff you can't by normal playing or to get things FASTER then when playing normal. So yes, this HAS Pay2Win. The fact that "there are no definitive Pay2Win options" doesn't mean the sum of things that one can buy are not Pay2Win. However... EVERY game has to earn MONEY in one or the other way. I think what is much more important and informative is if a game is... FUN PLAYING... and if Cash Shop Items are borderline required to have fun with the game. Even then it is important to know how expensive those required items would be. If as example a game has a "Premium Subscription" and that offers allot things along with it that you still can get by normal playing, but are so very nice to have and make the experience more round... then that is good. But if the game has predatory store items that are pretty much required to buy to have fun... and you need to buy those more then once... then it would be a hard pass for me. But yeah, Epic has a packet for free for Dauntless, and I wanted to try it anyway. I heard about it like a year ago when I bought Monster Hunter World... and wanted to try it, but since I have quite some backlog thanks to HumbleBundle... never got around to. I think I use the free time I have now, to give it a spin... maybe I stick with it.
You really can't call it p2w really, the devs in this game are the most generous I've ever seen. They give you free stuff left and right. You can also get the acceleration stuff by playing the game and they aren't necessary at all. There is no daily limit of stuff you can earn, the more you play the more you get. I've played this game for a looooong time and never felt even the slightest reason to pay for progress. I bought some cosmetic stuff to support the devs though. The cosmetics are super fire too.

The term P2W is like I explained it is, whenever you can pay to get performance enhancing things that give you an edge VS other players without it. That can be an item that lets you gain more XP then other players without it. But like many things in life... there are different levels of that. Dauntless here might not be outrageous in their P2W options, they might have limited how much additional power you can buy or they give you some stuff for free like you said. There are other games, especially on mobile, where the whole game is tuned in a way that you have to pay at least a little to really have fun. But yeah, I call EVERY game that has ANY form of such mechanics in it where you get an item that gives you power... but you can also BUY it P2W. That being said you still have to take a closer look how outrageous they are... like in Dauntless according to what you say it is probably bearable and unimportant for the most part. But there are other games out there... I seen them.
@@Momoka7 The thing is, that you can get the same stuff, that boosts xp without paying and it even is enough to have it always active when you play right. This means you literally have no benefit from buying it with the premium currency, unless you purposefully waste your boosts. The true things you use the premium currency for is cosmetic stuff. There also isn't a single item in the premium shop, that increases your power in any way. I don't think, that this is p2w. I know games, that are p2w and this game is far from p2w.

Even in a case like you state here... where you get enough free and never have an incentive to buy additional. The presence is enough for the label. Also, like i said, there are still good games out there that are labeled P2W... but they are like Dauntless here... you not really need to buy anything to have fun.

I reckon this game should just add patrols and pursuit back, to go ALONG with hunting grounds. The idea of looking for a single behemoth and not relying on RNG to find what you’re looking for is much better than having looking for like half and hour to find what you’re looking for.
Agreed. Pursuits and patrols were also much more difficult and made the monsters a formidable force. Now the game just feels too much like an mmo and not enough like a monster hunting game.

I've been playing since years ago. This game has come so so far and it seems like the updates have either driven off longtime players or gave them mixed feelings. I LOVE all the changes, Omnicells included. I can understand how having your progress reset is annoying, but with the amount of content they've added I'm more than happy to level up again, especially since I didn't really optimize my gear or know how at the start.
For me personally, it wasn't really the 'reset' of progress. A lot of the combat 'reworks' or 'overhauls' weren't what they were hyped up to be. On top of the endgame loop basically revolving around filling an XP bar repeatedly for inconsequential bonuses to power, there was 0 incentive for players who kept up with the game to continue playing beyond the initial crumbs of new content.
It's not really surprising that a lot of older players left, because a lot of the core longevity of the game evaporated in favor of accessibility to new players. Which, I don't think is a bad thing when it's taken as a balanced approach - but it wasn't. And still isn't.
I'm glad you're enjoying your time with the game! I think more than anything, the game is much better suited for people who haven't invested that much time yet. If the endgame loop was better suited for meaningful longevity, I think a lot of the older playerbase would return.

My load out has Medic +6 and Rezakiri helm. I revive people in seconds and give them a light barrier on top. If I die, I come back with my own barrier and can revive another guy to full hp. I can solo hunts to 13 and if I'm on a team I usually hard carry. Thats my endgame

Something I now enjoy more than before is a game to just play for a few minutes and then log off again and Dauntless is perfect for that. Plus pve is a bit more chill imo. - no mad teammates.

I suggest to still play it! It's a good game. Generally I've had so much fun coming back in the game. I quitted it for abt 5 months because I got sick and tired 8f dying from beasts. But now it's much better

Started playing 1 week ago and I absolutely fell into it. I am not a big gamer anymore, but I spent like 6 hours daily playing this. After getting 5 weapons to 20, having around 10 items upgraded with aetherdust, every epic cell I like to have, it is getting a little boring tbh. But it is one amazing game. It can be very entertaining for like 2-3 weeks.
Exactly. I was intrigued for about 2 weeks before dropping it completely. If they can't even let your character climb a ledge reliaby... they fucked up.
@@Virjunior01 I feel like Dauntless is the exact opposite of Monster Hunter for me. I like both Titles, but Dauntless will always be the game where "playing" it and maneuvering your character will make MUCH MUCH MORE Fun and feel soo much better than in Monster Hunter, but then you're lacking in terms of content and sense of purpose in the game to even play it. Lack of content as in Story etc. and that is Monster Hunters strong point. I fking LOVED exploring every map of Monster Hunter, finding all the fodder enemies, all the little sht you can do, but fighting the big bosses was no fun for me at all. I fking hate the clunky feel from those long ass animations in Monster Hunter.
If someday a Monster Hunter game exists with both aspects. The amount of content and details like Monster Hunter and the gameplay feel of Dauntless I'd love it to death.

I’ve played this game since the beta. Ngl at the start was kinda meh, but when they added electric escalation I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE GAME. I remember grinding and being so hyped for umbra escalation. The game is kinda dead but it’s really good. I kinda prefer old dauntless but it’s a legendary game!
I played two years ago and I loved the fact that every fight was a bossfight, meaning, it took 20 minutes to beat one guy and there was only one on the map. I tried it a few months ago and I was disappointed, now you can kill one guy in a minute and there is unlimited spawning of them on small map.

@@jacksonsimones9884 trust me, it was amazing back then, you felt like real hunter. In team we were trying to find the beast and it took at least a minute sometimes even more. Then you throw a flare and wait for your team to get there. It took longer but you were happy once you killed it, also I have a feeling that the monsters were a bit bigger. There was one guy I think called stalker, purple tiger and it was impossible for me to beat him with best gear, now I think I could beat him alone in 3 mins

I haven't been playing since the beta but I've been playing off and on for quite a while since before reforged and I have to agree with some people it has changed for better or worse. However I have watched a bunch of your videos and I enjoy them all, i look forward to whatever comes next
Started watching you when dauntless came out on consoles, so nostalgic and different at the same time
I played this game as soon as it came out and was extremely underwhelmed but seeing how much has changed im am very exited to give it a second chance
I was a relatively small dauntless streamer for a while. I enjoyed the game a lot. I played it for 2 years and had a lot of my gear maxed out and tons of different class set ups. I was able to carry groups of people through fire and shock escalations with like 80% success rate. And I had a low but loyal community behind me on twitch. But everything changed when the update to the progression system and hunting grounds attacked.
Hunting grounds is cool and all but after having played the game for 2+ years and grinding all of the materials needed to upgrade my armor and weapons for specific builds, it was extremely disheartening when the progression system changed and it felt like majority of the time I had spent upgrading my gear became wasted. I no longer got to carry people through heroics. I now also had to basically restart leveling my weapons through their actual levels and not through upgrading them. It just felt horrible to play the game now as someone who was already in the end game levels. I felt like I had been reset. And the way that you had to basically prestige your weapons over and over and over and over, basically resetting your progression on the hunting grounds everytime just felt horrible.
But last night I saw the “banked experience” thing in the slayer progression and I think it sheds some hope again. I can just bank a shit tone of weapon xp now and then prestige and still be near end game content levels on a weapon rather then fighting heroics and then having to go back to an ember name that literally doesn’t even catch on fire.
I’ve also noticed some reworks to things like rage and ice born. Classes did start to feel pretty stale. I’ve born felt like a necessity sometimes, but also way too strong. So some of the cell changes seem exciting to me. I’m actually excited to try this game out again and to do some escalations

I joined dauntless somewhere before the voidrunner event and the evacuation, i still play the game but it feels like everything unique and fun about the original has been cut off, the battle pass used to be way more rewarding even when it was free, everythings about grinding and even the lore feel like a hassle in general it just feels like a different game, i really would love if they brought back the old version as its own game.
I think the biggest difference is that with the classic you didnt need to actually upgrade to have fun, you just became stronger to help other players and for the sake of it, but now you have to unlock everything to do anything and even searching for lore feels like your just finishing off a checklist.
True legendaries weapons ar not even rare or unique anymore u just pick it up in the worlds. before reforge u farmed for the hunger and armor sets now it feels like everyone has them they ar pretty much free for taking.u would think if u had them before reforge u would get a free cosmetic for the legendaries
For me when I first started playing I instantly loved the game but after a while I just found the game to be repetitive and I just got bored and found other games I enjoyed more. But after about a year I decided to hop back in and I'm happy about it, I think this game has so much going for it but for some reason not many players. For me this game is one of the most fun games I have played so I just don't understand why people don't give it a second chance. I thought about never coming back to it, but I did and I think it's worth it. But I think why most people have left is because the developers have introduced whole new paths on the skill tree and then just straight up removed them, I think this deters people from wanting to come back because they fear everything they worked for will be removed in an update. But that's just my thoughts.
People aren’t giving it a chance because their playing monster hunter world or rise… and this is a “fortnite” version of it.
I gave it a second Chance,even thought they wiped my whole Progress 3 Times ( 1 of them was promised Not to Happen ) but when i came Back the cool Beta Version of dauntless was gone, gone was the cool and serious Tone of the Game with its Monster Hunter style hunts and hard encounters , replaced by a weird Multiplayer "Open world" Monster slaughter Party Gamemode .
It Tried so hard to Not be Monster Hunter that it pushed all the good qualitys away and replaced them with weird Casual Multiplayer Stuff (Gamepass,hunting grounds,trials ,Prestige system ) , while also nerfing Most Fights Into oblivion
Its Just Not the Same Game anymore and i dont know a single Person ( i was Part of one of the biggest German discord groups Back in founders/Beta time ) that still plays the Game , we all supported it because we though it would be cool to have a second monster Hunter inspired Game , and it truly was . But sadly they Took it and Changed it beyong recognition .
Some people end up not liking after some time 'cause they realize how bad the behemoths' AI is almost all the time, also the constant bugs, the bad mechanics, the bad ideas the devs bring into the game. Of course it has its great things, but some may find them to not compensate all the bad stuff.
I used to love Dauntless with all my heart, but now the game is just dumb, the devs are terrible and just make bs excuses all the time, that's the worst part about Dauntless, its developers.

Ive been playing since its lelease and at the start it was very fun, i even watched ohdough when he was still new, i remember the good ol days when the biggest acheivement you could get was beating esc 10 to 50 solo
Despite It's general image as a Monster Hunter clone, Dauntless I have to say introduced some mechanics in which the whole genre needs. I feel Dauntless and Monster Hunter can learn a lot from each other in terms of mechanics, gameplay, overall feel, and enjoyability in the aspects of each game. Kudos to you Phoenix labs, Capcom will be watching your future with great interest. PS: I did start out as an mh fan and have grown to like both games for what they are. I want to see where the genre goes as of 5 years in the future.

Dauntless is one of my favourite games! I have been playing every monster hunter game since the psp days, but I switched to dauntless due to its lovely community and full cross play and cross progression, so I can do my trials on pc and do my casual hunts with friends on my Nintendo switch!
I don't know when the gliders were added but they are so good you can get around so much faster now

I just started playing Dauntless about 5 days ago and I gotta say it’s a really fun game with challenging monsters, clean smooth mechanics, enjoyable progression, and sick looking armor and weapons. I see myself playing this game for the long term.

Last time I played dauntless was like 2-3 years ago, and I was hunting for Rezakiri gear. Then I got back 3 days ago, and I found out I can hunt for Rezakiri, and I finally got my first Rezakiri armor piece.
Im so glad you made this video. My friend was telling me to play this game and I wasnt sure if I should download it. Seeing this video made me realise just how much better the game is than I originally thought and I'm downloading it rn.

I endured every change in the game, even the reforging thing which is just grinding for the sake of grinding and locking content constantly even tho I've been in the late game state for years...but what they did to the chainblades was too much. If you've never played it, sure, give it a try. If you're an old player coming back, also give it a try, but don't get too hyped.

While mentioning similar games to dauntless you defaulted to dark souls? Monster Hunter as a series is clearly the better analog. Also it has way more worldwide sales than the dark souls series. Don't be afraid to use it as a comparison, its a way more accurate description.
I watched this because 3 years ago I started playing it on my PS4, PC now. It got better but somehow worse, don't know man, feels like it's the same as 3 years ago :)
I remember the begging tutorial behemoth you first fought as soon as you launched the game for the first time. i don’t exactly remember what it was but I think it was Gnasher. I got the game in Summer 2020 and I remember the old dauntless Ramsgate. The game felt so great and I really loved how you could level up weapons up to +15. I also liked how you could unlock more behemoths things by playing main quests. I remember how the maps only had one specific behemoth in it and you had to search around the map for it. Don’t get me wrong I like the reforged update and I like how you can fight many behemoths on the maps and I like the slayers path as it feels more organized but the game at some point just gets boring. It becomes stale because there is a lack of content in endgame at least for me. Heroic Escalations and Dauntless Difficulty Trials are the only thing that is there for endgame players. The one thing I don’t like about reforged is leveling system. I think I just prefer the old one. I prefer old dauntless over reforged dauntless but both are still good. Back then the game also had a story. Like there is a reason why you have to do this. Now the quests are either rumors which take so long or are just quests which require you to kill the new behemoth that the game added. They need to add a new system or something really big and new once again. That is what will get players excited to play again. I was always thinking that they could add a new element like water or air. For water you can add a swimming feature where we fight behemoths In the depths of the ocean but I am not sure how that will work.

The game has changed very much since the open beta, something has become better, and something worse, Phoenix Labs tried so hard to please the newcomers that they simply did not notice how they kill everything that the old players loved their game for, thereby the desire to play old players in Dauntless disappeared. I understand that these changes helped and help the game attract more and more new players, but now the game looks like a dummy, it has lost its unique style, the gameplay in it has become extremely dull and not interesting, the senseless redrawing of weapons has only aggravated the situation of the game, I love this game, my friends loved it, but now "Phoenix Labs" as it seems to me just go around in circles, pretending that they give us something new.

When I started playing it was the Torgadoro season, but after a week or two I uninstalled bc I didn't knew what to do and how to progress.
Then months later reforge was announced and i tried to give another chance to the game, I started to like the game and this time I had a friend of mine helping me, we've been playing this game for so long that now we play just for the esca crowns.
Honestly i started playing dauntless a couple of days before the repeaters were first added , i stopped playing when the reforged update dropped cause i just felt alienated in dauntless, idk it doesnt give me the same feels as it used to, but o guess that's normal to most games that keep getting updated
I use to love playing dauntless, the grinding to upgrade my armour and weapons was quite fun, and getting the special weapons and armour from the elevation thing I think it was, was enjoyable, the main thing that ruined the game for me was the hunting grounds, once that was released dauntless just wasn't itself anymore, the satisfaction of killing a beast completely just was not fun anymore, you kill one and then just move on and the reforge for your weapons, I really don't think it was a good addition, basically, the game just fell off when hunting grounds was added
If you liked what it was the devs of Dauntless were heavily inspired by the Monster Hunter series so if you can find a sale on World or another game in the series I'd definitely recommend picking it up

I used to play this game so much, I loved it because of the fact that different elements had different damage against other ones. I quit once i reached that radiant boss. I remember playing with one of my friends and trying to beat that shock boss (I think there were 2 of them) Thank you for making this video, I will install it on pc instead of ps4

The main thing that drove me away was resetting ur weapons for aether hearts and the bonuses. It is so grindy and tedious, and it really is boring. U eventually do the same thing over and over. I am a Destiny 2 player and that game is grindy but fun and has tons of variety. When i get bored or pissed in PvP i used to come to dauntless but now dauntless is more repetitive and grindier than even Destiny

I have left the game for a while, I may return to it! But I can say, the game gives so much pleasure!
There are many changes that I am still not totally aware of, I was hoping you may go thro the different new modes that came!
But I see that the core of the game and the playstyle are still legendary and it makes me always open up to hop in and play whenever I want!
This game helps connect with other people especially if they play on different platforms!
For new players, this is your way to go, give the game a shot with friends, and play it for a week or so! Get the hang of it! Then judge if the game is not for you that is alright! You still will have fun on this small journey!
I first played Dauntless during the closed beta and I loved it at the time. Being a fan of Monster Hunter and that genre of game I was super excited to see what I thought was a contender at the time. And I wasn’t disappointed, Dauntless’ unique array of weapons were so vastly different from the few I used in Monster Hunter that it was a breath of fresh air. I gravitated to the sword and war pike heavily. But after awhile I ran into the same problems I usually do with games, burnout. The arcadey feel started to seep in and I left the game. My monster hunting thirst was slacked cause Monster Hunter World: Iceborne had just released and I went off to play and I’ve comeback a couple times since and was impressed with some things and not so much with others. But I’m gonna give it another shot and see what new things they’ve added to the game.

i have a love hate relationship with this game. on one hand i love that this game interduces new players to this style of game where you hunt big monsters and is just a boss rush the entire game but on the other hand, it doesn't do enough the game it self doesn't have much of a soul and the art and gameplay feel really lack luster at times. to anyone who plays this game and want's more please try playing monster hunter (either rise or world) or Toukiden 2. they are both great game franchises that are just better dauntless. also i am not saying this to put anyone down for liking dauntless it's a decent game.
As a player that has 100 reforges on axe (No Cap) I felt the spectrum of emotions while playing dauntless and while I I'm taking a break from Dauntless I can say that in a few months Ill come back to it here and there.

@@mrxerxes7947 Well at "Endgame" there is nothing to do since you've completed all the content that's available and since I didn't want to run round One shoting everything I just Reforged and Reforged soon I got to 20 then 30,40,50,60,70,80,90,100 although to be honest I hit Reforge 65 I felt the tediousness of Reforging so I had some help from some dauntless streamers from twitch that helped get me through the grind as I was feeling that it was boring doing it solo.
I remember playing this game a lot 2-3 years ago. I was unfortunately hit with a data reset (I'm on ps4 btw) which deleted all my games. A couple days ago I reinstalled it and my progress made it through the reset. It's still as fun as I remember.
Considering you are a dauntless youtuber, you've undoubtedly heard this a million times, but I must say, if you're burned out on Dauntless but enjoy the gameplay loop of hunting monsters to make gear out of said monsters, try Monster Hunter World, or Monster Hunter Rise, they're the easiest titles to get into and are worth every second
I actually played a lot of MHW a fair bit. I think the one thing that is a pretty sharp delineation between the two games (Daunto and MHW) is the style of combat. I just couldn't get into MHW's combat, even after around 500 hours of playtime/endgame play.

i played before the reforging of the weapons was around and i think the reforging is a curse but also very nice for new players (for players that spent days in dauntless before the reforging it is really annoying cause it changed all sets and cells and so the old sets didn´t work anymore at that was annoying ) i still have an older axe set where the iceborne cell was still a thing and it doesn´t work anymore cause old iceborne was much stronger then the new one
God this game looks so painfully soulless. I'd totally forgotten about it, can't believe it's still alive.

Everything sucks in Dauntless now, Power Surging should not have exist, reforging SHOULD be optional, levels shouldn't affect your performance against Behemoths, in fact it shouldn't have exist, the previous system of leveling gear up via upgrading it from 1 - 20 was fine, Omnicells where a nice addition at first as the meta was practically discipline ice borne rage and ur good to go, now we have more variety but all the Omnicells feel very underwhelming Iceborne is mediocre, Discipline is a 50/50 works and doesn't work, Tempest is mediocre, Revenant if you wanna kill urself, and what tf is Artificier, and then the Chain Blades "rework" oh boy, I really expected a lot since they managed to make Sword actually viable and warpike to be better, but no its worse than it was before, and feels so clunky to play, being a new player also sucks since u gotta spend so much time reforging and opening patrol chests if u wanna get aether hearts and reforging itself is doo doo, Heroic Esca is also garbage as it isn't "Challenging" its just a bunch of one shot mechanics and now the meta definitely got even worse, current state of the game is not okay and is probably somewhat fun if you have 2-3 good endgame gear but even then its still frustrating
I tried to get back into it like 6 months ago, and i felt like it's not worth playing compared to what it was before.
The open world update butchered the game, from a unique game to "we swear we are not Monster Hunter World"
The need to reset your weapon for 1% more power is a sad design choice, locking you from higher content even if you are playing with stronger friends while forcing you to do stuff you already did for no reason.
The strongest point of dauntless was the combat, anything that blocks you from engaging with it, be the wasteland of a open world map or the boring "reforge" grind, shouldn't be in the game.
imo I think that the reforge update brought the game back, I would give it another go cause It's pretty good once you understand the system.

There's no lock, you can get in anywhere when its private- no level walls there. Reforging sont recquired anymore with alternative of purely sparks. If anything reforging is to master your skills and burn through behemoths more effeciently.
I’ve been playing over 2 and half years and I’m still addicted playing any where between 10-25 hours a week
I play dauntless with my brothers. We have a lot of fun still.

I was alerted that a Centipede and Black Widow remaster are free in the Epic store right now, and I noticed a Dauntless Add-On is free, leading me to discover Dauntless ITSELF is free! So I thought I'd move past the glossy ads to see actual gameplay, THIS excessively timely video - uploaded 3 days ago - pops up, LOL! PERFECT!
What's weird is that this seems like an identical concept to Horizon Zero Dawn and recently released sequel Forbidden West, except looking less glossy/advanced. I mean, all three could be described as hunting dinosaurs in a medieval setting with a spicing of technology! And I think all have crafting items using hunted materials!
I think I might actually grab this. If it's PERMANENTLY free then IDK, if it's temporary like Black Widow and Centipede then I'll get it while I can.

@@badbilly7499 guild rework can impact heavily gameplay mechanics by territory conquests for an exemple.
Skyfishing and a farm can become end game content for veterans chilling with their friends. A calm, peace and customizable place for happy time with guild/friends.
Glider course will need more rewards to be interesting i think.
We still wait for Pets too. They can change the gameplay too by killing stygians or smollusks or buff slayers

Territory conquests? this is a monster hunting game. sky fishing and "personal houses" to chill...this is a monster hunting game. glider course....this is a monster hunting game. So pets would just be lanterns? Killing/buffing isn't anything NEW. Literally nothing you said enhances the core game. Like I said they are just trivial novelties that don't make the core game any better.
I just returned haven't played since 2020 and now there is the slayer path you can keep fighting behemoths now in a level I don't even arrive on islands with people anymore and you don't start in the ship anymore and it doesn't show how much weapon power or Armour power you have anymore and it used to show what was effective like if you were going against a embermane you would need some type of fire armor and a frost weapon it don't do that now its so different now from back then in 2020 I planned on taking a small break but didn't return till recently it's been almost 2 years maybe even 2 years since I played the game is very fun again I like that there is more behemoths in a lvl now too
My last achievement from 2020 was on March 9th I defeated shrowd and rezakiri so yea probably 2 years think I stopped in either March April or May but yea the game seems much better now and now you need those aether things to lvl up your weapons and armor its kinda confusing since everything is different since I haven't kept up with the game for a long time it got annoying fighting op behemoths and trying to grind certain body parts to get new weapons and armor I think that's why I quit but I'm back and I think it's worth playing im having way more fun then I think I ever did back then and what's with the shitty hunt pass they use to give emotes slayer skins etc now it's rams coins patrol keys combat merits and all this random stuff I don't really care much about but either way I missed this game hopefully they still add new behemoths and all that

The recorge update, and omnicells absolutely crushed this game. I mean, back to back absolutely horrible changes that gutted the game and nerfed virtually everything. No game could survive that, certainly not dauntless. It's a shame, it was such a great game with monumental potential. It was at one point in my top 10 games. Now, I wouldn't even play it if I was paid to do so.

I'm currently downloading the game, and by some of the comments I've seen so far I believe the updates are what drove off the players from longer ago. If anything in my opinion, id say that its better fitted for people who've never played before.

I fell off the game a little after reforged, mainly because they were trying to balance the weapons and ended up changing hunts, I miss the old ways to hunt behemoths where you actually had to track the behemoth down and chase it if it ran away.
Hmm I haven’t played in like 2 years, so do you not run around with your group at the start now to find the monster, I feel like redownloading it on my pc (I used to play on Xbox) just to see how different it is
The way hunting works now is that you can have 6 slayers on one island that has a couple of behemoth types that spawn there, once you spawn you immediately know where the behemoths are because they have icons floating over their heads,
You don’t need to track them down, and they don’t flee at all, you run up to a behemoth and slap it around until it dies and go to the next one, it’s basically mindless running back and forth.
I know it makes hunting and grinding easier but I don’t see why they couldn’t have kept the old hunt as a separate mission type, because I liked actually tracking the behemoths.

Iv not really tried the trials or escalations yet though I don’t really know what benefits I get from them but I’m sure I’ll find a video about them. I mean for a free game there isn’t much to complain about but as I said I get where your coming from

Ive been playing this game for 5 days at the time of creating this comment, and my repeaters skill is already at max level (i am a professional no life). I put 5 bucks into some transmog stones for a fashion, but thats all the money ive spent. That gives you a general idea of how hooked i am on the game. I will say that MHW is better in terms of graphics and gameplay, and yeah, dauntless' behemoth attacks can have bugged hitboxes/BS combos, but its still gonna be a fun time, a game that promotes teamwork above all else. We need more pve games like this tbh
Monster hunt world is one of the few games that I could never really get into,it felt too grindy for me so it's nice to have something that's not as complex
This game is fun if you dont play it hardcore. Once you learn everything about the game you find its absolutely garbage from hitboxes, bugs, interactions, bugs, constant dev oversights, bugs, lack of direction, glitches, and most importantly the amount of bugs. This is one of those games you play for a month and then move on until it gets updated come back play for a day or 2, realize the update was nothing special and then wait for the next update. Ill prolly redownload it to try the radiant stuff next week then delete again after im so underwhelmed by the actual new stuff and seeing all the same old problems.
There isn't really anything quite like Dauntless, but if you want a game with similar charm I recommend Deep Rock Galactic. Yes.. it's that good.

Newer player, just hit chain blades 16, so far it is a fun game, only kind of annoying this is having to farm the same behemoths over and over for armor but I guess what else do you expect

Didn't liked new system where you have to reset progress. Too grindy. So after like 1.5 year playing I left the game. Still I had a good progress, 50 level, gold crown and a lot of stuff.
I've been playing for a little over two months now and now I get on kill 5 things and im already bored. It dosent feel that rewarding at all to make a legendary item to me either. I've made one piece of chronovore and that's all even though I fought it 50 times. at a certain point you just start to think what the point and move on to something else.

Been with the game since the closed beta, but it's been a bit of an on/off thing. The last time I really played actively and put a large amount of time into the game was before Reforged.
Also, I gotta say, for all the gameplay improvements they've put in, I feel like the overall narrative elements of the game really got gutted.
Like, back in the day, certain hunts were part of story quests, you did them for a particular reason and it felt like more of a natural progression, you'd unlock new maps and new Behemoths because you technically got a promotion. I also deeply despise the new prologue, it's such a downgrade narratively. You used to have your very own character intro section to show you the ropes and tie in your character narratively, now it just has you play as Kat for the tutorial and then your character is sort of dropped into the world from out of nowhere.
Right now, I just got mixed feelings on the game. It has gotten better in some aspects, but also much worse in others.
they fucking gutted this gem. I cry honestly. I had visons for this game to be somthing far greater than what it currently is. But I am glad I got to play it while it was good. I started playing soon after it was released.

5:08 Pay2Win is... whenever you can pay to either get stuff you can't by normal playing or to get things FASTER then when playing normal. So yes, this HAS Pay2Win. The fact that "there are no definitive Pay2Win options" doesn't mean the sum of things that one can buy are not Pay2Win.
However... EVERY game has to earn MONEY in one or the other way. I think what is much more important and informative is if a game is... FUN PLAYING... and if Cash Shop Items are borderline required to have fun with the game. Even then it is important to know how expensive those required items would be.
If as example a game has a "Premium Subscription" and that offers allot things along with it that you still can get by normal playing, but are so very nice to have and make the experience more round... then that is good. But if the game has predatory store items that are pretty much required to buy to have fun... and you need to buy those more then once... then it would be a hard pass for me.
But yeah, Epic has a packet for free for Dauntless, and I wanted to try it anyway. I heard about it like a year ago when I bought Monster Hunter World... and wanted to try it, but since I have quite some backlog thanks to HumbleBundle... never got around to. I think I use the free time I have now, to give it a spin... maybe I stick with it.
You really can't call it p2w really, the devs in this game are the most generous I've ever seen. They give you free stuff left and right. You can also get the acceleration stuff by playing the game and they aren't necessary at all. There is no daily limit of stuff you can earn, the more you play the more you get. I've played this game for a looooong time and never felt even the slightest reason to pay for progress. I bought some cosmetic stuff to support the devs though. The cosmetics are super fire too.

The term P2W is like I explained it is, whenever you can pay to get performance enhancing things that give you an edge VS other players without it. That can be an item that lets you gain more XP then other players without it.
But like many things in life... there are different levels of that. Dauntless here might not be outrageous in their P2W options, they might have limited how much additional power you can buy or they give you some stuff for free like you said. There are other games, especially on mobile, where the whole game is tuned in a way that you have to pay at least a little to really have fun.
But yeah, I call EVERY game that has ANY form of such mechanics in it where you get an item that gives you power... but you can also BUY it P2W. That being said you still have to take a closer look how outrageous they are... like in Dauntless according to what you say it is probably bearable and unimportant for the most part. But there are other games out there... I seen them.
@@Momoka7 The thing is, that you can get the same stuff, that boosts xp without paying and it even is enough to have it always active when you play right. This means you literally have no benefit from buying it with the premium currency, unless you purposefully waste your boosts. The true things you use the premium currency for is cosmetic stuff. There also isn't a single item in the premium shop, that increases your power in any way. I don't think, that this is p2w. I know games, that are p2w and this game is far from p2w.

Even in a case like you state here... where you get enough free and never have an incentive to buy additional. The presence is enough for the label.
Also, like i said, there are still good games out there that are labeled P2W... but they are like Dauntless here... you not really need to buy anything to have fun.
Once they remake the HUD to look just a little bit pretty, I'll go back and play.
