Hi Ben, I recently took the C2 Proficiency exam and found almost all of your videos helpful. In fact, you have been giving me constructive advice ever since I was preparing for B2 First. By the way, I achieved a grade C (206) for CPE, and I'd like to thank you for bringing me this far in my English.
Hi Ben! I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for all the knowledge you share here for free. I got my CPE results, and I’m thrilled to share that I passed with Grade A (223)!!! Although I didn’t take your course, I believe I’ve watched every video on your channel, and your help truly proved invaluable and indispensable. So, once again, I’d like to express my deepest gratitude for all the tips and guidance you’ve shared here. And to everyone planning to sit CPE in 2025: you’ve got this! Take some time to prepare if possible and make sure to check out Ben’s videos ;) Good luck to you all!
Hi Ben, cool video with some tips and good resolutions for 2025, happy new year to you, you know ben i have made up my mind this year i am going to carry on learning English every single day of the year like i have been doing for more than five years now, yes you are absolutely right it is all about having pleasure doing it, even though i can feel frustration sometimes when i set the bar too high, because you know Ben i would like to be equally confortable both in Enlish and in my language French wich implies a big amount of work ahead of me.Well , i also enjoy writing little reviews like this one, it is just a casual writing training, lucky me i am now retired since last october and this gives me a lot of extra time to continue my journey through the language.Okay Ben i really hope everything is going well for you and you will carry on releasing interesting content like this video.Best regards .Serge from France.
Dear Ben, First of all, I wish you a happy and healthy year 2025! Thank you very much for your wonderful message! I totally agree with every single point you have mentioned in this video! Especially the first three aspects turn out to be the most challenging ones for me. However, I dare say that at the very root of this problem lies the fact that I find it immensely hard to define what my exact goal is. One of the main reasons for this is that, deep inside me, I’m not at all motivated to learn English “simply” to pass a specific exam. On the contrary, my intrinsic desire is to be able to read fluently and (relatively) effortlessly genuine literary masterpieces and discuss them-both orally and in written form-with native English speakers by joining a book club. At the same time, on the long term, I would like to pass a C2 exam, but I just don’t feel prepared for it now. If you have any suggestions for what I should do in order to set a clear goal as well as a concisely defined study plan, please do let me know! I would honestly appreciate your advice. All best wishes, Anna
Hi Anna First of all, you should ask yourself why you want to take the CPE exam. If you don't have a clear answer, maybe you should think twice about it. As I said, exam preparation can be useful but not for everyone. Regarding defining your goal, perhaps it would be better to set regular short-term goals like reading a certain book and discussing it with someone, or mastering a particular grammatical structure, or learning some idioms/phrasal verbs etc. You don't necessarily need to have a study plan per se. Remember the last tip... have fun, and don't put too much pressure on yourself.
Hi teacher Ben:Thanks a bunch for your 2025 English tips.So do I.They are particularly way out of my league.Fair enough! Had I been you,I would keep spreading my wings wider and wider, throughout this my beloved county...Lesotho.
Hey Ben! First of all, thank you so much for this channel! Your videos have been incredibly helpful in my English learning journey. Recently I took C2 proficiency and my score was 195, so I got the C1 certificate. Even though I was hoping for a C2 level, I was pretty happy with the results as it was the first time I took the exam. My score was interesting and weird at the same time, I got 217 in speaking but 179 in listening, which I consider I bit weird as I usually have no problems with listening at all. As I took it in the end of last year, there is a high probability that my tiredness had something to do with my listening performance. Do you have any extra tips for me? I intend to take it again next year! Best wishes!
Congratulations! 195 is an excellent score, and I'm sure if you take it again, you'll reach 200. Having good listening skills is essential for the CPE exam, but you also need to do sample tasks and have a clear strategy. There are many sample listening tasks on UA-cam, and I share my tips on strategy in my videos and online course.
English is my fourth language from my age 16-20 without any C2 in my life. These levels mean that someone is ready to pass some kind of exam to get the pass in their life after school. My English without any school in my past but it is with the experience of living in an English speaking country after 30.
Hi Ben I have a question. I prefer to take paper based tests due to the fact that for the reading part I can underline etc. But I can not do that with the computer based format. What is your advice in this case. Thanks a bunch
Hi, if I may share my personal experience, I passed both the FCE and CAE computer based, and I do not regret the choice of the format. You can higlight sentences with your pc. You can go forwards and backwards throughout the questions. You take the listening test with your own headsets, reducing the noise that can come up (es. people coughing). There's the word counter during the writing part. And the clock as well. And I asked for a pen and a piece of paper to take notes during the writing and listening parts. I guess you can do it for the reading as well.
@@maxthirtyseven I completely agree with you. I took a computer based test as well, and it was really convenient, especially when it comes to the listening part of the exam and writing as well
Do you have a video to help more advanced and advanced level students decide which exam is best for them? B2, C1, C2? I'm not sure how things may have changed over the years. Do students have to take the exams in order? Thanks
You don't have to take the exams in order. For many people, the C2 Proficiency is the first Cambridge exam they take. I have a video comparing the C1 and C2 exams
Dear Ben, I watched your videos while preparing for my FCE and CAE exams within 1 year span Dec 16th 2023/ Dec 14th 2024. I passed FCE with a grade A and am still waiting my CAE results. What do you think about taking C2? Is it useful? Is it worth preparing for? I want to take it but i feel a bit tired and overwhelmed by last 12 months of intanse english learing.
I would suggest taking a break for 3-6 months and then see how you feel about it. Of course, you can continue using your English and getting input during that break, but in a more fun and lax way.
I completely agree with the previous comment. Take a break and see how you feel in a few months. Continue your relationship with English, but take it easy for a while
