@@jaronlopez hi, can you make a video on my in the Key of A minor, the fifth has an F# when you make a 9th chord. Please Some say Emin flat 9. It's confusing me

Tell me why I learned more about practical music theory in this 15 minute video than I did in all my high school and college music classes. Jalapeño kettle cooked.
This is outstanding. I have found that not enough tutorials focus on rhythmic concepts, so the fact that you included that here really makes this stand out. Please, more of this!
This might be the best music theory/production video I've seen on youtube. How the complexity of the progression is scaling through the video is amazing, really easy to learn even for begginers with only the basic concepts of music theory just like me. Also the final product sounds so professional that it gave me a lot of motivation to continue this music production journey I've started at 24, just when I thought I was maybe too old to start... Thanks Jaron
My favourite thing about these videos is that you actually explained the upper extensions and the theory behind them with the modes. It's such a breath of fresh air from the "chord code" "place a note, go up by 2, 3, 1 *whatever*". Like if you don't wanna learn theory and just want the sound then go off King, I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying that learning theory gives you an appreciation for jt and a deeper level of understanding helps every instrument sound homogeneous cuz they all feed off the same material. This is probably the most informative tutorial I've seen, I feel like it helps view music with the lens of a "real musician" as supposed to "someone who makes music". Amazing video, pls keep teaching like this
I love how you explained all this in such a sequential order, just taking the time to layer more and more techniques. This was very insightful, thank you for such a high quality video!
this is literally one of the best explanations of greek modes ever, and it is not even the main topic of the video. Great great stuff! Modes are not scales, they are modes. Ways of arranging intervals starting from a note.
You have no idea how many years I spent trying to find that explanation. Finally figured out how mods work.... You should write a book about music theory i think!
Never really comment, but I have been looking for a music theory video like this. Not too simple where you're teaching me stuff like "three notes make a chord", "c major", and all that stuff, but not too advanced where you assume I know all the chord names and shiz. Also it's on stuff that actually sounds cool! Keep up the good work man!
wtf this video is such a gem! Better than any other music theory videos I've watched in 2021. Please make videos about stepping outside typical chord progressions!!! Really love it and appreciate it!
No wonder the UA-cam algorithm shoved this in my face for a while now. Very well made, well explained, and well exemplified! I too will say the inclusion of rhythmic playing concepts really took this up a notch. Well done!
I did skim through the video, but damn this is a good beginner tutorial. You're really good at simplifying something that can be a complete jungle, hope it'll get more attention!
u just explained the modes in the most simplest way any one on physical earth cannot explain. i was confused in modes and u just clears the air for me. thanx.
i've been doing this all of this, and i didn't know the names for it. just felt like one big cloud of "what sounds good". also i love how the beat turned out! really chill kinda spaced out feeling
Oh my god! So many possibilities to monotonous genres, like techno and drone... I never thought about something like this coz, you know all this theory for instrumental nerds and stuff, and i can do boom-boom and woozch- woozch on my own😂 I'm so embarrassed and happy at the same time!
I’m trying to brush up on music theory to help with my production. This is honestly the most straightforward, relevant, and accessible explanation of some key concepts (eg modes) that I’ve come across. Thankyou! You’re a great teacher.
Salt and vinegar!! Not sure what people are talking about regarding music theory, the crisp flavor description is one of the best I've seen, big up ya self fella
I'm so glad I found your channel. I feel hopeful again that I can learn to play on my DAW if not my keyboard. I make all my own melodies so it's a must I continue learning music theory! Thank you
Im new in the music world and im still an english learner, I understood everything, great explanation, the visual examples are easy to understand, I learned a lot more than I expected before clicking on the video, thank you for sharing your knowledge, you definitely got a new subscriber. Blessings from Mexico.
Your arrangements are dreamy. This progression made me think of Emerson/Lake's Take a Pebble: they used the 11ths of the same chords on the intro and the main part of the verse (check out also the chords at the end of the chorus, esp. the last)
I am partial to the classic plain flavor of a potato chip. It allows for amazing excitement once say a barbecue or sour cream and onion flavor rolls around.
it's one thing to know theory, it's a completely different thing to teach it. I've been playing Keys for a while and I found the modes' explanation to be a great reinforcement that builds on what I already know. Amazing video
@@PIRKSTINS ah of course. not trying to undermine their raw ability. Just to me what they played always seems like a different language to me. It’s good to be able to make sense of it now… well some of it anyway lol
Even though I have no idea how I'm gonna actually apply this on my own , this is the first time I've ever seen a music theory tutorial and felt like I understood what was going on. Thank you!
