I heard another person say that the President was supposed to be Trump like figure ( conservative President) in his third term, what are your thoughts on this?
@@CornPop_s_grandson I expected that. There’s only one allusion to anything that he really did. The reporters are deciding “what would I ask?” And one of the questions was “do you think you should’ve disbanded the FBI?”. I don’t really see him as Trump being as he’s very dry and bland. You could call him Biden too. The character is designed to be cardboard to really be any political figure in that post. It’s smartly done
Lee could have pushed them both on the floor and survived. I hated the ending unless she wanted to die. She started breaking down so I think she took the bullet to end herself
Exactly. She’s haunted & even expressed it at one point, when she said how disappointed she felt after surviving warzones w/pics to show the horrors, her intent to say “don’t do this” but here her own country was “doing it” (i.e. failing to learn from wars elsewhere & not let it happen at home). PTSD + world-weary existential depression + having just lost someone close; she’s exhausted & unraveling (barely even taking pictures until inside the W.H.). I can understand how/why she maybe didn’t care whether she lived or died anymore, & just reacted when she saw that Jessie was about to get shot. She shielded Jessie, maybe on instinct, saving someone who still had hunger/hope/passion for the same calling she did; in that moment, saving Jessie (pretty much a younger version of herself) was all that mattered to her. Beautifully tragic scene. Especially the (ironic?) way that Jessie’s immediate trauma -frozen, yet remaining focused on capturing history- without freaking out (or even checking on Lee) mirrors how Lee didn’t break when Sammy was shot. At first, both scenes struck me as callous, but under such extreme circumstances (war being the epitome of extremes), it feels (IMO) wrong to judge their actions, given the heightened stress, adrenaline, fear, the madness of it all. On reflection after the film ended -moreso in Jessie’s case after Lee saved her life than Lee’s inaction w/Sammy (maybe they filmed her trying to stop him bleeding out, then cut it?)- it seems like Jessie was *honoring* Lee’s sacrifice by not breaking down…steeling herself, getting up & finishing her (& now also Lee’s) job/mission. Definitely demands a 2nd viewing. Great film!
Very possibly. On the other hand, "I don't worry about the bullet with my name on it, I worry about the one marked, 'To whom it may concern.'" No matter how good you are at surviving dangerous places, the law of averages catches up with you.
I thought it was a solid film. It didn’t need anything political in the film. The only complaint about the film was some of the music choices in certain scenes. It took away the certain feeling you’re supposed to feel. Wasn’t sure if that was done purposely? 9/10 for me. Maybe 8.
Yeah i think there's an interview where Garland says they wanted to create a jarring scene with using music that didn't fit the situation. Im making a follow up video with his comments on the movie this week.
It’s also interesting that Lee took a picture of Sammy when he had died and then deleted it but we don’t know if Jessy deleted her picture of Leah dying

This movie was about two journalist characters with arcs going in opposite directions, set in the backdrop of an American civil war. It would have beem better to name it something more related to photo-journalism, because its really not about the Civil War. And that's fine, I loved the movie
I liked it. I seen it as risking everything for the perfect shot. Taking shots amongst gunshots. The fact that Todd from breaking bad was cast in this role was good as he portrays the ultimate psychopath.

This movie, 2024 “Civil War” Movie opened… April 12th…. The firing on Fort Sumter, 4:00 AM April 12th, 1861. Loved the film. Surprisingly not political. Not much detail why, when, who but that is not the point. The effects of a Civil War… lack of transport, few cars, little gasoline, no law enforcement, no CHP (Highway patrol) , a lot more refugees I would expect. Big Cities need huge amounts of food and goods to be delivered and with little trucking, massive starvation! The 1st CW, the South had huge problems with food shipments breaking down by 1864… worn out trains and military taking most civilian wagons and horses. The South also had local militia and ruffians take over and was dangerous moving around. The most dangerous part in a war (civil or not) is the beginning and the end… when people are settling scores and filling up the mass graves…. Before peace breaks out

I didnt look at it as a hot shot. I saw her and lee as swotching roles. Lee became young chick in the end to the point the guy was pulling her around just like he did the young chick. Such a great moment
Man, I quit being scared at movies around junior high. I really like horror, movies, etc. Some of them give me a little bit of a jump scare. I appreciate how they put the scenes together how they do sound the change of aspect ratio. I always know that I’m watching amovie. Going through DC in this film I was a little sick. I couldn’t turn away. It was horrifying. My daughter leaned over to me. She’s an adult by the way she said that she felt like she was committing a crime just watching us movie. Seeing other peoples reactions to it as fascinating to me. I really like 2A content on UA-cam, but those guys, even my favorites. it’s as if they are only trying to deter me from watching it. It’s misrepresented from video to video It’s weird how this is affecting people.
I’ll tell you what, I’ll vote for the candidate who tells the people in his own party to shut up you’re being stupid. That would get my attention. It’s amazing, the only candidate that could lose to Biden was Trump. It’s like the left and the right are trying toout stupid each other. There’s no touch of reality on either side of the aisle right now, it’s gonna be a hard lift, Democrats lost labor and a good portion of minorities. It’s amazing to me they could screw that up. I don’t think you’re gonna vote on the right so I’ll leave all that stuff out. The Democrats have no clue on the needs of the average American right now.
You think the movie is just about photo journalism; but if you don't have a grasp of current day politics, it's the stuff the Left talks about will happen if Trump gets a second term. Look at what they were saying when. The trailer came out.
@Danny-yv8bq @Danny-yv8bq that would be a given. Genvava convention rules only works for international conflict. Civilians using pepper spray or a tazer would violate it. People have a naive view of how brutal a conflict like that would be. Even the movie when you have a dictator losing a war with US's power. The shortages would be worse they they show with water. How many times you hear of "food deserts" on the news? You know what happens when trucks aren't delivering anymore?
There’s a difference between describing a moving and explaining it. One requires watching the movie, the other requires the additional critical thinker layer. What’s the point of the movie? What’s the meaning? What’s the message?
Great review and recap. It saved me from watching it, though. It was worth learning the story, the film is an important warning of the horrors of civil war which can happen ANYWHERE. i've subscribed.

How about this movie where the government actually cares about there citizens and who pays the bills of this country how about that movie never mind there's no money in that lol.
He doesnt say “good enough” at the end he says “they all do” referencing a previous conversation in the car about how other dictators have nothing of substance to say at the end. I keep seeing all reviews say he just said “good enough” like nobody actually watched the movie and is just copying review home work
A summary execution by the Western Alliance makes you wonder who the " tyrannical forces" were in this civil war. The map shows quite a number of "loyalists " states the US armed forces being defeated by "alliance forces" receiving assistance from an "international community "? I get the premise is to show the horrors of war, not to show the how or why, but when you see the summary execution of the opposimg leader again you have to ask yourself who was defending civil rights, the constitution, trial by jury? Were there outside agitators pushing the country to civil war? Think through the last 125 years, the only wars that end with summary execution of an opposimg leader were those that led to tyranny afterwards. Just a thought based on the review nothing more.
The movie was a total surprise for me. It was a solid, well made movie that kept me interested throughout. I love action films. Additionally, I was floored by the sound editing, and the stunning cinematography! Seeing the trailers, I expected it would be a silly propaganda piece. After seeing it, I felt it was more of a 109 minute ground level war experience. The IMAX screening was really great for this type of movie. Nothing is perfect; there was a disturbing reoccurring point expressed by the character selections that I thought was not cool. But I won’t say more than that. I liked the chaos, the realism, the set design. And the performances. I wonder if the Dolby experience is a lot different thanIMAX experience? What do you think? If war movies are your thing, I recommend that you see this one.
@LoriLoriLori21 - (IF you don’t mind telling), what was the disturbing reoccurring point? Not looking to argue or anything; just curious… (particularly to see if it’s the same thing that rubbed me wrong, or if it’s something else that completely went over my head) Thx in adv if you choose to answer!
Apparently there was no trial which means that the U.S. would be led by a military junta. The irony of this possibility probably was intended by Garland. There you have it. The point of the movie!

-except for the MAGA Cult-
are AGAINST it, as it violates the Constitution, subverts the rule of law, & destroys separation of powers.
How do YOU define *fascism* if ^all of the above^ doesn’t clearly qualify as exactly that???
@theclipper795 - it 100% IS *fascism* …
Check Wikipedia - it’s outlined clearly & unambiguously. No annoying TikTok viewing necessary.
If the insanity planned out in Project 2025 comes to fruition, it absolutely *would* cause a(nother) Civil War.
@theclipper795 - No annoying TikTok viewing required. Just read the Wikipedia entry.
It absolutely IS *fascism*
& if what’s planned comes to fruition, it 100% WILL cause a(nother) Civil War.
It’s beyond disturbing how brazenly Project 2025 outlines the blatant insanity the MAGA Cult apparently wants for America.
This film couldn’t have come at a better time…but it’s a shame the vast majority of voters won’t bother to watch it.
I didnt look at it as a hot shot. I saw her and lee as swotching roles. Lee became young chick in the end to the point the guy was pulling her around just like he did the young chick. Such a great moment
It definitely was like that too. Lee was more affected in the end.
It was another rendition of "The Wizard of Oz." The ending being the disappointment that we all have when the man behind the curtain is revealed.
They needed to give us more background.
In my own fan fiction this film is a prequel to the Walking Dead franchise
I see it as something that happened in the same timeline as Leave the World Behind.
why?
@@andyseinfeld1954 Mainly the cinematography
Funny enough, General Beale did say the military had infighting during the chaos. So it’s not far off.
Best part imo is how the movie shows the humanity we have to access to survive
Love the film. It was beautifully paced and there wasn’t a dull moment.
Greetings from Washington DC BidenHarris2024 ❄ 🌎 ❄
@@johnstallings4049 no thanks
You think the movie is just about photo journalism; but if you don't have a grasp of current day politics, it's the stuff the Left talks about will happen if Trump gets a second term. Look at what they were saying when. The trailer came out.
It's is pretty intense at the end.. There was no Geneva code . Pretty much catch and kill. Loved the movie.
And fires everywhere
Great movie, had me at the edge of my seat most of the time. Well written and fantastically shot
I followed instructions and skipped to 13 minutes, liked your recap so I went back and watched all of it.
Thank you!
There’s a difference between describing a moving and explaining it. One requires watching the movie, the other requires the additional critical thinker layer. What’s the point of the movie? What’s the meaning? What’s the message?
Sounds like a 109 minute 'Flower Girl" commercial, must be an election year.
Really looking forward to catching this movie
I was looking for a spoiler laden review thank you.
Jelly Fish Reviews...
Having watched this movie I can’t wait to rewatch it and catch the things I’ve
I missed
I like that the film left the intentions of the other factions ambiguous.
Like the movie/book “The road”… never said what caused nearly total destruction of the world…. Nice to know but that is not the story!
Great review and recap. It saved me from watching it, though. It was worth learning the story, the film is an important warning of the horrors of civil war which can happen ANYWHERE. i've subscribed.
Thanks for subscribing.
I loved this movie! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!!
Same!
The best thing is that the film doesn't actually clarify what political dispensation in today's left/right wins
Thanks for the book report
This movie was pretty damm powerful
Still processing. Alex Garland leaves you pregnant questions and wtfs. Excellent cinema.
So disturbing because I could see this movie believable the wrong people.
I love western force and national guards in the movie!
You didn't say what was the ENDING OF THE MOVIE, just the movie, not your philosophizing. How did the MOVIE END?
This movie looks like a Mix between Apocalypse Now and Spec Ops the line.
Consider that Michael Herr, who wrote Dispatches, contributed to Apocalypse Now, that makes sense . . . .
“Skip to 13….” Nah you know what, I love hearing peoples opinions on great films so I’ll stick around for the whole thing! Might aswell subscribe while I’m at it.. keep up the vids man 👍
Thanks!
Love the concept of it
Loved it
✅
Crazy they thank nazis in the credits
They are using the wars in the former-Yugoslavia as a basis. Thing of the Jesse Plemmons character as a take on Arkan and his Tigers . . . .
This was an entertaining film
I agree!
I want to see part two
Did every character in the film use they/them pronouns? The near future is wild bro.
I just want someone to take a picture of the ending credit scene lol
That was pure comedy lol
It definitely caught me off guard
How about this movie where the government actually cares about there citizens and who pays the bills of this country how about that movie never mind there's no money in that lol.
Only Sweden would make a movie like that 😂😂😂😂
The government doesnt pay bills, it takes money from its citizens and spends it
@@yuurbi9136You mean Venezuela or Cuba, right?
Cool! Loved the movie!
Love love love this movie
same!
I love this movie
He spoils the movie.
He doesnt say “good enough” at the end he says “they all do” referencing a previous conversation in the car about how other dictators have nothing of substance to say at the end. I keep seeing all reviews say he just said “good enough” like nobody actually watched the movie and is just copying review home work
i think he said, "that'll do"
"can i get a quote?"
"please don't let them kill me"
"that'll do"
*bang bang*
@@foxyr4bbit Yes, that's what he said.
"they all do" doesn't make sense
I think the secessionist factions start fighting each other after the Oval Office execution at the end (as what Sammy warned)!
why all “they “ it’s confusing
the dude is very confused about pronouns
Seriously. People are stupid nowadays.
Sammy is a "they" 😮
And them lol
Understandable choice to pick journalists as the neutral main characters. But still kinda wished Jesse Plemonts was more in the movie.
He absolutely stole that scene, he was terrifying from the moment you saw him. I hope you wins an award.
Not looking to argue or anything; just curious…
(particularly to see if it’s the same thing that rubbed me wrong, or if it’s something else that completely went over my head)
Thx in adv if you choose to answer!
Watch Leave the World Behind and watch Civil War.. seems to be tied 🤷🏿♂️
I still haven't watched Leave the World Behind but plan to this week
Love it
Dumb and confusing
This guy’s constant use of “they/them” instead of he/her is distracting and annoying.
Gonzalez Susan Lee Joseph Thompson Timothy
White James Miller Scott Rodriguez Helen
The correct pronoun is "she," soybean.
Is the whole point of the movie that wars are horrible? That’s it?
Civil War specifically.
The real victims of political violence and war are journalists is basically the message.
Its always left wing whatever if youre a victim enough 😂
Dude stop saying them so much .
The most interesting part of this movie happened right after it ended.
Apparently there was no trial which means that the U.S. would be led by a military junta. The irony of this possibility probably was intended by Garland. There you have it. The point of the movie!
You are sooooooooo clever. I have NEVER heard or seen someone say what you said. You are amazing!!
@@metatechnologist Exactly! In my mind Sammy lays it all out. We're not following a group of journalists on their way to document the last days of an American civil war. This movie is the setup.
@@paulrevere1479indeed witty beyond all words weren’t they. ? I’m half right !
Good Review.
Bad Movie.
Liked the movie but dune 2 was better
Dune is still above Civil War for me as well
The ending was just bad...
They killed Trump.
📽️🎥🌞🎭9/10
Movie was pretty lousy. Majority of the movie is them just driving. Offerman was in the movie a total of 2-3 minutes. And it was the opening scene. And 1 min toward the end.
Just came back from the theatres. I'm so upset with myself. I fell asleep right before DC!
Must’ve been boring if you were falling asleep
@@Euphoryaaa haha I had 4 glasses of wine xD
Great ending. Biden doesn't get let off easy.
