Please note: I enjoy working on cars but I can't promise that what I do will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car, or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and if you're not sure what you're doing, get a qualified mechanic to help you out.
Appreciate the subtle dig you had at me there in the first minute or two Sean. Pretty petty stuff mate.
It's not a one off, I seem to cop it everywhere these days. It just wears you down and sometimes it's the small comments that break you. People are happy to sit back and criticize, and at the same time contribute very little (or nothing) themselves.
@@MotoringBoxTV life is learning, the greatest things to learn are inner, remember how nemo had to go into the itchy coral, untill it didnt itch anymore, then he was stronger... these comments arent breaking you, their building you, your tollerance, your greatness. adversity forces us to grow, too much easyness in life makes us whiny and weak.
you will reach a point of love and empathy for the nay sayers, not frustration.
your a winger, instead of appreciation for small things, you winge that things are not good enough. some one makes the tinyest dig, and you cry in the comments. "pretty petty stuff mate"
@@lllllukeify I’m not the one who has a sook and leaves every facebook group he joins because someone doesnt LOVE every video he puts out’ that’s petty AF. Gotta have a thicker skin than that. It’s the internet. Not everyone’s going to e-suck him off for every video he releases and that’s fine, that’s part of being a creator.
@@lllllukeify Also I never ever said things weren’t ‘good enough’. I said the last video was 16 minutes of him bolting wheels on and wasn’t really worth my time to watch again.
No harm in sharing that. We all don’t have massive chunks of time free to absorb what youtube has to offer. And that was something I could have gone without watching.
Your channel, your life, your cars, your time. Don't justify yourself to anyone. Loving this series, never been a magna fan but I can appreciate returning something rare to its former glory. Well done mate.
Gran Turismo music makes me happy
I think you're doing a great job. Don't mind the haters. They have no idea how much work actually goes into a project car plus filming plus editing.
Doing a Manga Ralli Art is epic. The choice is unique and shows you have more dimensions than cool Fords.
Keep it up.
So glad you said 'cool' before Fords.😀
How cool is Magna Ralliart, what a stunning Aussie beast she is.
great vid man, dont worry about the impatient armchair critics whining about your video release schedule. It's perfectly fine to make it work for your lifestyle. Looking forward to seeing what's next.
I'm loving the subtle nod to the Gran Turismo menu music while installing parts on the Magna
Great job on the taillights.Makes such a big difference to the look of the car.
I have to be honest, I am also very busy and I love the pace at which you release videos. I look forward to every video instead of being bombarded and losing interest
I'm glad you sourced out for them TL VR-X taillights lights. Much better and cleaner look 👍
Considering these videos are free, and the quality is superb, no one has any right to complain about it. Love your vids man
Especially if the person is complaining on a different platform where it's supposed to be a helpful group for Magna owners and has nothing to do with UA-cam.
Got to admit...learning to like this Magna. Like many, I used to just disregard them out of hand. This project is coming good...and it's all 'garage upgrades' on a budget which is cool to see too. Keep up the good work Sean.
Another good Aussie UA-camr who puts out good content is Backshed. He saves old Aussie classics, informative and great to watch 👍
@motoringbox thanks Sean! Yes we do this on the side. Between work and family there is not a lot of time. It is difficult to do the work as well as push out the content, and like you said who else is doing videos on Magnas, Old Subaru Wagons, or vintage Hilux's. Cars looking good mate.
Quick tip with the headlights, 1200 grit wet sanding those headlights and THEN use the plastX polish. Also recommend putting a ceramic coating on them afterwards so they don't go dull for years.
crazy that you film on weekends and then go back in time to release the video on a thursday. cheers boss
Nice choice with the Gran Turismo 3 car market music
The headlights and taillights look absolutely fantastic Sean.
Regarding the battery cover, they were only ever factory fitted up until the TH model.
TJ onwards never had them factory fitted, cheers.
Huh interesting, I purchased mine in 2010 Tj series one and it has a battery cover, previous owner must have put it on, or they looked after the sports and vrx models with a bit more dress up in the engine bay
@@callumadams5523 Somebody fitted that cover. Word from MMAL at the time was that so many sales people complained about them that they discontinued it. Apparently the lids were left up when cars were jump started and then the bonnet would be pulled down by the idiot sales person causing it to break.
For whatever it's worth, I am absolutely loving the magna content. And you're way, way further along than me
Love the music there. The gran turismo menu music. Nice. And all the keyboard Warrior's..don't see them coughing up the coin do do such big projects. And even offering to help you out in any way. Look at how many of us love your videos. Top job once again.👌🤙
All these little improvements really add up. The headlights and tail lights look great. The inappropriate clear tail lights would have aged and looked crappy anyway. I am glad you are doing a series on the Magna and I share your enthusiasm for it. Having done similar things with a car, nothing beats that feeling of standing back and getting all excited about the work you have just done, especially when it works and you can pat yourself on the back! 😊 Keep on keeping on. ✨👍
To avoid the fading plastic thing altogether, get some glass headlights from a Verada, (the indicator is sepate)
Halo rings also look awesome on these.
Couldn't have said it better myself. It's so true. There's not enough Australian content creators on cars. Like you said, it's very dominated by Americans support your local Aussie 😁🤓
Great video... The taillights certainly look a lot better than before and don't worry about keyboard warriors who don't even own a channel, and/or a car... Keep doing what you're doing and yes, more people should support small Aussie creators...
Man, when that GT3 Car Dealership track came on..... Loving the series mate.
Try using 1500-2000 grit sandpaper on the headlamp. I had similar sun damage on my Swift Sport's headlamps & the sandpaper along with a polish took out those marks.
Awesome vid.
Not gonna lie, thought of Gran Turismo when you were installing the battery. All that Japanese jazz fusion.
Love your work mate and love backing youtubers from around here. A couple of other good mentions of youtubers from Aus are Automotive Karnage, Nathan Paykin and ThatCarLife
Mate that secondary power from your positive terminal goes to the fuse box to provide power. You'll find that not many things work if that isn't secured!
Well there you go! Cheers mate.
Great content. It's awesome seeing old cars getting restored.
absolutely love that Gran Turismo menu music that made it in to the video!
The best duo Aussie car + Aussie bloke
Loving this series, Sean.
I used to have a KJ Verada Xi and it’s making me extremely nostalgic. 😊
New Tailights look awesome, much better than what came with car.
Love the gran turismo music
Great video as always Sean! And thanks for the shoutout 🤙 you’re definitely right about the UA-cam scene! The worlds gotta know what Australia has to offer 🔥
Hi Sean, I reckon you did an absolutely wonderful job with cleaning the headlamps. I wonder about headlights these days, as I also have had these plaguing issues with the various cars I've owned in the last 15 years. Every EF, EL Fairmont Ghia, BA, BF and now FG Mk 1 and 2 are having these problems.
I have always used Century Batteries as they last and last. ( and they are Australian made, which is a bonus.)
Sean, thank you so much for showing all of us some classic Australian Motor Vehicles. This channel is truly unique.
Good stuff mate. Small tip on the headlights- sand them with 1200 then 2000 wet and dry first and that will remove all the problems.
The Ralliart/Verada headlights are the best fitted to any Australian made car. And those tails are a massive improvement.
I've been using Meguiars PLASTX for years and you really can't beat the stuff.
Keep it going.miss my magna, wish I had never got rid of it.
cant wait to see the car again.
Honestly mate absolutely love these vids, just easy to watch, If you did a 15 minute vid on how to replace a fuel cap Id watch it twice haha.
Those new tail lights make that car look so much better over those old clear ones. And those headlights look a lot better as well after being cleaned up like that. Great stuff as always.
I've been enjoying the series on the Magna, because we had a 2000, Magna Sports for about 9 or 10 years. It was a reliable vehicle in the time we had it, good for touring, including Brissy to Townsville, Townsville to Brissy and then onto Perth via NSW Central Coast and Adelaide. It never let us down.
Only thing I really didn't like was the torque steer when accelerating from low speed while planting the foot. My rusted-on Holden loving son-in-law found it was much better to drive than he ever imagined in the times he drove it.
Sold it to the sone who then had it for another 3 or 4 years. Hopefully he'll remember to pay for it one day.
Im sure others have said this but just ignore the trolls, they dont matter! Dont feed them. You have a sick Magna do it up good I love this content.
Just to add to your "check under the battery/tray" note, some cars have ground straps and wiring under there too, so extra incentive for making sure you don't have corrosion hidden in that area 😀
Magna is looking sweet!! Screw the haters, also 50 points for the GT3 menu music 👍
Car is looking great! Don’t worry about the haters. They are just impatient. Those taillights look like ones out of a vz calais. Great vid!
Oh look, I watch some pretty big car UA-camrs quite religiously. I also watch every one of yours as soon as they’re released. And I don’t even like falcadores haha. Keep doing you man, it’s great stuff. Also, glad you finally got a decent car :P
Love that Gran Turismo 3 music in the BG.
Love the little battery monitor. As they say, there's an app for everything these days, and thank god there is. Great insurance for checking out battery condition so you don"t get stuck. The Magna's really looking the part. Hope the Roady goes smoothly mate.
Yes! Bin the bogan spec tail lights!!
Used to see them everywhere back in the day
Love the gran tourismo soundtrack!
looking good Sean...what a difference those tail lights make 👌
Another thing to consider is getting TE/F/H Verada 2 piece glass parabolic headlights if you can find them. They fit right up as they're the exact same shape headlights other than having to rewire the parker globes which is no big deal really. You'll never have to worry about fogged up/yellowing headlights again.
Also, very nice touch with the TL/W VRX taillights! They look great!
I've since seem two Ralliart Magna's in my home town , one in white and the other is red . Not bad for small town NZ
Really enjoying this car restoration, even if I’m not a big fan of the car, but good restorations take time
Awesome mate, hang in there and you are doing a great job. Love your content and seriously, any content you can get put is great. Rather watch 5min of you than 30min of a US UA-camr
Can't wait till you paint it. You've got me looking around for Ralliart magnas now :D
Awesome work mate, really liking the series. If people give it to you for not being up to their high standards you know what they can do, plus how many of them have a channel with a family and a full time job.
Love that Gran Turismo menu music, Sean!
Doing a great job, can’t wait to see it painted up!
Looks great Sean
Lots of little bits add up to one big bit 👍👍👍
Great video Sean and can confirm that the secondary cable on the Positive battery terminal is indeed factory. No idea why they did that but like you said, “it’s just the way it is”!
Hi Sean - the new tail lights look heaps better - well done.
Had a tm Magna , used it as pace note car for rally tracks . It never gave up & would go into places across ground only rally cars and goats travel on !! Great cars they were
Good stuff as always Sean! Keep chipping away at it! I know it’s easier said than done but try and ignore the arm chair whingers, you’re doing good stuff! You’re 100% right about the Americans dominating the CarTuber scene so people really need to get behind any good Aussie CarTubers like yourself! Looking forward to the next one mate!
The headlights on my early TJ Magna are the 2 piece parabolic made from glass. My TJ Magna has the battery cover as seen at 7:35 but they were not on the later production cars.
Make sure you put a quick spray of clear coat on the headlights to stop them from going again
Definitely needed those taillights. Well done. And that battery gadget it pretty cool!
Slowly getting there Sean. The Magna is going to scrub up mint I reckon! Ignore the haters mate, you're doing a great job and with a lot more perseverance and patience I would have! 🙂
Great upgrades Sean. That battery monitor is brilliant. Didn’t know there was such a thing. Rear light replacement looks much better. Onwards and upwards…….
I reckon wet-sanding the headlight prior to polish would get it mint. I have used and highly recommend the Cerakote Ceramic restoration kit. Supposedly lasts for life. I'm about 18months in and still looking good. (FG Falcon) I'm liking this project. Never ever thought I'd be rooting for a Magna, but low and behold I'm hooked! Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see you doing Ippy laps in this with your mullet wig. 👍👍👍
Another great one good on u shaun this magna is looking like a beast which it already kinda was with that exhaust can't wait to put a 2.5 inch on the vs🤘
Good stuff Sean, so glad to see those tail lights gone! Quick tip in case you weren't aware with restoring headlights, you'll want to put some sort of UV protection on them, or they'll cloud up again within a month. 2K clear coat in a can is good (but you have to scuff the headlight up to do that), otherwise headlight resto kits usually come with basically clear coat in a wet wipe that achieves the same thing, minus the scuffing.
Keep it up man, love the updates, and you've made me appreciate Magnas more than anyone ever has! :)
Sylvania do an amazing headlight restoration kit. You can get them from Amazon for about $60. Got everything you need in them.
I appreciate the work your doing. Glad you had a say at those who are impatient. The Magna is looking great. Paint next I hope. You have given me a lot of hints into keeping my Lancers in top condition , including my Sport that is kept in the garage under cover and driving for it's regular service and around the block once a week or so. It's 8 years old now and has under 50k on the clock but in new condition inside and out. Thanks for making great video's and I still want to win the lotto to have a chance at buy the Magna.
Gday Sean, the car is looking amazing and in the last month here in Sydney, I have seen two red Ralliart's, one is immaculate and I do not say that lightly, the other is registered as well, but has had a tough life. This is quite similar to the dilemma you find yourself in at the moment. The majority of comments are from people who get what kindness and humility are, whilst the others have clearly had a tough life. Keep up the great work and always remember what people say online is a pure reflection of how they feel about themselves and their place in the world.
Just a tip with the LEDs, get an adjustable flasher relay, way less stuffing around, easy as piss.
Awesome job, I'm really excited about this car.
Love the new taillights. Not sold on the led globes. Traditional globe filaments form a tight point source - these are designed to sit in the luminaires exact focal point and this exact positioning is needed for the indicator and tail lights to focus correctly. Led globes have no central focus point and because of this they are rarely as good or effective as the old fashioned globes that were originally designed to be installed.
The tl vrx lights are the best of the Magna rear lights great job sourcing those
Loving the magna content and I'm a ford man. To me any aussie car is hugely interesting and I learn something new in just about every episode. Keep the top content coming and I don't care how long it goes for. As a side note I love the tshirt and stickers well worth the purchase.
Wet and dry sand paper, Really fine grit. Bit of water, Rub the headlight down really well. Then clean it off, Mask up and spray a coat of clear coat over it. The best treatment you can do. The others tend to just... polish the issue away until it wears off.
Second this. If you've got the time to clear coat and polish them it's well worth it. The plastic will cloud up again fairly quickly unfortunately without protection.
@@victorpeirce4753 I'd say that's more than likely linked to a shitty clear coat. I did mine about 3 years ago and they're still crystal clear. Gotta be careful what brand you use and to make sure you leave the can in a bucket of hot water for about 15 mins. But go with what ya know
You want Uv clear
That McGuire's is great..used it on a number of my kids cars. But, the headlights will fade again. So, best to replace them eventually. Oh, and that stuff is great for polishing your windscreen for smoother wipers and reduced streaking.
Loving the gran Turismo menu music.
Good work, Sean! idk if you have the time or patience to try this, but those dead LEDs in the spoiler brake light are probably easy enough to replace if you have a temperature-adjustable soldering iron with a fine tip, along with a pair of long-nosed tweezers. They look surface mounded, meaning they're a bit fiddly but not impossible to change. Replacement LEDs are dirt cheap too, you could probably buy a bag of 100 for like $5 from eBay or AliExpress.
Me seeing the cloudiness on the headlights, but then again it's the finger smudges on my phone 😂
Thanks for the update, looking forward when you can get the RWC.
I would recommend PPF for long term protection (Paint Protection Film)
It's not that expensive plus will save on rock chips and bug etching.
You need to apply a UV protecting plastic-clearcoat over those headlights otherwise they will be crap again in a few months.
Looking forward to the motoring cube episode where this gets taken over the pits.
Awesome video. And now I'm off to buy one of those battery monitors!!! What an awesome bit of technology!
Thank you so much for giving these cars some spotlight, they are amazingly underrated and amazingly beautiful.
How good are baby formula tins for storage containers… even have a clear lid so you can check what’s in them!
Ralliart logo on the head unit is a nice touch as well.
Car is looking good Sean. Auxito make great trouble free LED bulbe. no need for resister.
Those red instrument clusters will look just as impressive at night I think.
I think they might have discontinued the battery cover on the TJ model to save money. Or maybe only continued on with the verada like the chrome window surrounds.
Sounds like it - kind of crazy though as they left the bottom half of the assembly and it looked unfinished. I guess most customers wouldn't have noticed (or cared).
Hi Buddy, just want to say I am really enjoying the ralliart magna work, I have one myself, original owner and had it since new.
Headlights looking pretty Good job! I did the same job on my old XR6 one day with a similar tool to clear up mainly the drivers side as it needed most of the attention.
Doing an excellent job mate.. haters will always hate😎
New tail lights look great! FYI, Magna’s don’t have CAN BUS. First Aussie Mitsubishi to have CAN BUS was 380
I always thought canbus compatible meant they drew enough wattage to not affect crust control or other systems that rely on detecting the voltage drop of them turning on, but I could be wrong.
