  • Right, it's time to count the score and see how I've been doing with my '30 things I want to do before I'm 30' list, because that age is coming dangerously close... Which things do you think I should add?
I'm not going to link the old videos here because they're SO OLD and a tad embarrassing, but they're still on my channel if you want to hunt them down.

    Can you review my book?
I’m always happy to hear about upcoming books, but I’m afraid I don’t review self-published books and can only accept a small number of books for review. I enjoy reading classics, dystopian/apocalyptic novels, sci-fi, translated fiction and a variety of graphic novels, YA and contemporary literary fiction. Get in touch at booksandquills@gmail.com
    Where is your accent from?
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, studied English Lit at Leiden University (also in the Netherlands), studied in the US for 3 months and have lots of American friends. I'm definitely not Irish or Canadian, I promise!
    Where do you live?
I live in London and have been here for 4 years now.
How did you get into publishing?
I did publishing work experience, did a lot of networking and learned everything I know about social media from creating and running this channel. (P.s. You don't necessarily have to study Publishing or English to get a job in publishing!).

This was great, thanks, I've been looking for "self goals" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Farnicaas Switcher Capitalisation - ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my mate got amazing results with it.

Just wonderful, I been tryin to find out about "setting goals and time management" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Conoah Goalify Gotchie - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my work buddy got amazing results with it.

Well done to our past selves for setting goals!

I'm 23 and terrified of my 30s so I think making a list like this could help! Also you should make a "awesome things i've done and achieved before i turned 30" list and include the things you didn't think could do and did!

Taking control of your life is the *KEY* to happiness and success. We all start
somewhere, whether that be at the bottom or with a little help. Ultimately your
potential is determined by your habits, which will *DEFINE* Who you are and
what mark you leave on earth.

Sanne! I am a 22 year old sitting in my bedroom in the Netherlands and this is SO INSPIRING! I really want to do a list like that. I used to have one similar, and it was a lot of fun to go back to it a few years after I wrote and discover that I had been able to check some really big goals, as well as realize that a lot of the goals I wrote down I simply did not aspire to ever get done! It's inspiring, and fun to see how we change.

oh heck yes I love bucket lists.
I love the types of things you have on your list, too, they're all very much you. I feel like when I was younger and I'd written lists of things I wanted to do before I die, they ended up so general, like the "general bucket list" stuff. It's stuff I thought I should want to do, not necessarily what I actually wanted to do. But I find this so inspiring! I think I'd love to do something similar to this, because I love that you're able to look back at that video and have a tangible look at everything you've accomplished over these past few years. How freaking cool!

I never made a 30 before 30 list - and I turned 30 in October so too late now haha. But I did want to do something this year that was fun and challenging to celebrate turning 30. I just finished a 6-day cycle in New Zealand (where I live) called the Alps 2 Ocean. I'm no cyclist and stupidly didn't do any training beforehand. It was definitely challenging but I did it! Amazing what you can do when you just keep going.

I’ve started a list of things I’d love to do in my life without a certain end point. I started compiling that list when I was 16. I’m 23 now and even though I haven’t archived too many goals yet, it is still amazing to me how little some of my goals have changed. Though some “goals” still seem very far out of reach, like having a chat with certain celebrities or being a participant on dancing with the stars (2 problem: 1. I’m not famous, 2. I don’t live in the States), but I guess you never know what the future will bring.

I did make a list, not a clue where it is, might even have been a 'things to do in my entire life', but I know I've not done anything on that list... I can't even think of making a new list, just the thought fills me with dread and inadequacy 🙈
Your movie and Shakespeare goals! Set a night of the week for 'movie night'. As for Shakespeare, Ben Crystal has written some great books about the Bard that will help with the language if needs be, otherwise I recommend either reading it aloud to yourself or doing a read through with friends - they are plays after all!

I remember having a goal of wanting to write (and maybe even publish?) a book by the time I was 20. I'm now 22 and have JUST finished the first draft of my first ever novel. Better late than never, I guess!
Slightly unrelated (though you did briefly mention it in the video), but how come your accent has changed? I'm Greek, but live in Sweden, and I find that pretty much the majority of people here start speaking English with an American accent, and I found it very interesting that you said you used to have a British accent!

I learned all the states in alphabetical order as something to do while I was bored at work when there were few customers, so I have some tips! Granted, I do have an advantage because I grew up in the states and there was a map of the US in pretty much every classroom in my childhood. But what I did was look up all the states online at home, categorize each state by it's letter, and then go through the alphabet in my head letter by letter. So for instance, I remembered that there are four states that start with A, zero start with B, three start with C, etc. all through the alphabet. That way it's not super intimidating to try and cram 50 bits of information in your head at once and hope it sticks, and since you already have the alphabet down, it comes natural. I hope that helped and made sense!

Hi Sanne, if you want to see something cool in The Netherlands. I would suggest you visit Gemert (near Eindhoven), they're a village with city rights, a castle and a serious farmers museum. I loved going there when I was younger. They do all kinds of stuff at the museum. But I have also lived around there most of my life. Now I am getting ready to leave The Netherlands for my Irish move and am doing all these silly things in The Netherlands, just so I can say I did them ;)
    Have fun.

I really love how relaxed you are about changing priorities! Also the stuff you achieved that wasn't even on your list is very cool :)
I am turning 26 soon and this past year hasn't been very exciting, because I didn't have any goal in sight except getting into a masters program (which is cool, but wasn't very difficult because of where I am and the field isn't very popular ;D). I think ( I hope) making a list like this and having it somewhere I can see it regularly would help me become more active and thus being able to think back on passing years fondly and not with anxiety.

Ahh I love lists and goals so this video was awesome. I actually make a "birthday bucketlist" every year, with new things I want to try. Next year I'm turning 24 so when I turned 23 I made a list called "24 new things before 24". I think I got the idea from a blog I used to read, but you basically make sure that there's very small items on the list for the most part (like: read a book by *author you've never read work from before*) and then a few things that might take you a bit more time (like: learn to spit fire, haha not an actual item on my list). Anyway, I think maybe I'll make a 30 things before 30 list too, sometime soon, so I can have some larger life goals on it instead of just new stuff I want to do/try once. :) Maybe I'll even make a video of it!

This video couldn't come at a better time in my life, I'm just out of university and I want to move to Japan in a few month so a 30 before 30 list should be the perfect tool to reflect and think about what I want to do from now on. This is such a great idea. Before my current blog, I had a blog which I hope is buried somewhere far in the depths of the internet where I would talk about semi-personal things. Nothing really bad or anything that if someone unearthed the blog it would make me too embarrassed or anything, however, if no one ever saw it again I would be fine. Anyways, I had on there a list of things I wanted to do in 2016. Some things were small and kind of stupid while other things were life goals or things I wanted to do with my blog. Well, I never really got around to doing anything on the list, but some of my blog goals can still apply to my new blog so I might give them a go this year.
Wait, I just remembered something I do that is similar to this. Every New Year's Eve I have a pity party for one because I am not huge on celebrating the holiday. I turn on New Year's Eve (you know that movie with all of the celebrities that isn't very good but I still like it) and crack open Pinterest. I have this board on my Pinterest dedicated to all of the things I want to do in the future when I actually have money to do it and every New Year's Eve I find new things I want to do and Pin them in hopes that I will one day do them and my life will not suck as much. It sounds pretty depressing and it is but it actually makes me pretty happy.

Something we have to do for my Chaucer class is to recite the first 18 lines of the General Prologue with as correct pronunciation as we can. It's a fun party trick, and not too hard. Love this! I don't think I ever made a list like this though I may have written some letters to myself and I started a vision board on Pinterest... But it's interesting to look back a the things we achieved and whether or not we would have thought that at a younger age. I know I wanted to live, study and work abroad and I've achieved all of those things. And I've landed my dream job right after my masters, couldn't hope for better than that.. I'm only 25 though so let's see what the next 5 years will be. I kind of want to make a lists but I also kind of don't because I love the experiences that come with spontanous decisions. Though I have some things in mind like seeing the Northern Lights and getting a tattoo that I've been wanting for a long time now. Q - How did your accent change from British to American while living in London? That seems contradictory lol.

Sanne, if you visit Loch Ness and go to a little village called Drumnadrochit (where I am from!) You can take a walk up to the house where J.M. Barrie wrote Peter Pan! I'm not sure that it is that well known but it is a lovely bit up the hill behind the Divach Falls! Let me knoe if you go and I can (attempt) to draw a map!

If it makes you feel better, I can't name all the American presidents or all 50 states (at least not without writing the states down) and I live in America. lol I grew up riding thanks to my parents breeding and raising Shetland ponies and Shetland pony crosses. I want to make one of these lists, but I don't think I can come up with 30 things to do before I turn 30. Not when I'm already 27 and only have a little over two years before I turn 30. Interesting idea though and something I might still do. I might be able to come up with a 20 before 2020 list actually. Now I kinda want to attempt this...

New Year’s Eve in NYC is soooo over rated. It’s a madhouse and cold and lots of standing for 8+ hours. Do not recommend. Love all the rest of your goals! (I’m American and I just memorized the presidents in order!! Not many here can do it that’s for sure.)
