Apocalypse now is number 1 in my favorite movies list. Absolute cult classic. Specially the scene when army boat enters into the tribal villege..Epic blockbuster
@@NikonsPlace No, my friend, this would be wrong: Apocalypse Now! is a masterclass in visual storytelling, with tremendous thematic and character depth and taste of Nietzsche, a taste much sweeter than Whining. The actors successfully captured the complexity of the human psyche and the ambiguity of morality, and all this served the story amidst the chaos of the Vietnam War and all wars! The movie doesn't stink in the least and has aged so well. Apocalypse Now is one of the least pretentious pieces of garbage ever produced, and presents Conrad, my comrade, like no other. Coppola has made other great films like Tucker, A Man and His Tool and Finian's Rainbow, and so many other films by Coppola have a 50% rating. But The Conversation was interesting, and The Godfather was good filmmaking.
The greatest film of all time. Especially when one considers the adversity Coppolla faced in making it. So powerful that it inspired me to join the Army which was the best decision I ever made. What's cool is that I'm now retired and living in the Philippines where the movie was filmed. Thank you Mr. Coppola for putting it all on the line to create this beautiful, American masterpiece!

@@dyorgewiltonspassos183 I'm talking about Apocalypse Now, not HOD. They're not the same entity, and AN has barely any commentary on US Imperialism or even the Vietnam war, other than a few throwaway lines that serve more to explore certain characters than the conflict at large.
@@Al-ji4gdbuddy if you watched apocalypse now and felt inspired to join the military then you fucked up lol. But what’s even more unfortunate is that you missed the point of the film
I saw it opening week-end August 1979 stoned out of my mind in a packed theater in NJ. "What do you know about surfing Major you're from God Damn New Jersey" Crowd roared!
for years, I dismissed the idea of there being a “greatest movie of all-time” since there’s far too many groundbreaking films of varying genres for there to be a sole contender. after I first watched Apocalypse Now, I realized I was mistaken; *this* is the greatest film ever made
My favorite. Changed my life. On the DVD it's wide-screen with the black bars at the top & bottom of the screen. Why have a big screen TV if you can't utilize the full screen? The VHS was better.
"I will not hurt or harm you. Just give me back the board, Lance. It was a good board and I like it. You know how hard it is to find a board you like."
My favourite moments in the film : 1. Willard kills Kurtz 2. Willard meeting Kurtz 3. Do lung bridge 4. Ride of the valkyries 5. Arriving at Kurtz compound 6. Kurtz letter to his son 7. Opening scene 8. French plantation dinner 9. Willard gets his mission 10. Vietnamese boat scene
"I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream; that's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight razor... and surviving."...Col. Walter E. Kurtz
Forse, il miglior film in assoluto. Un strepitoso Vittorio Storaro. Riesce a dare punti (e molti) a qualsiasi film girato in digitale, con effetti speciali creati al computer.
The Brando scene about the errandboy was improvised. As a huge fan of this film, I caution anyone NOT to watch the Redux version. It introduces new characters new storylines that drop this film from a 10 to a 7
If ever there was a movie that showed that "War is Hell..." it was this movie. It was the boomer's generation war. War never gets "better"...only worse.
I thought this movie was great and it is until Marlon Brando's diatribe at the end. I always shut it off at that point. I don't need to hear his twisted philosophy and I think it ruined the film over all.
That was my impression when I first saw it in the 70s as of today i give it a pass. Older, wiser more patience to listen to Brando, but yeah you're right at that point in the film nothing he could say would redeem him and what he built. The whole place and everyone in it was beyond redemption, Napalm it and be done.

Damn you interpreted this critique on the war and on American military system as an inspiration to get into the army?
@@dyorgewiltonspassos183 It's not a fuckin critique on the war. This isn't Platoon, buddy.

Best character line was Roach,
Sheen: “ hey soldier, do you know who’s in charge here?”
Roach: “yeah”
That dude was all the way gone he never left the jungle even if he survived
Chefs breakdown after he nearly gets mauled by a tiger and ''Roach'' my 2 favourite scenes.

That is so stupid!!! What does it even mean? If you like that you should see a shrink.
Dang everyone is so young in this!
Look at Fishburn
'There's no way of telling his story, without telling my own. And if his story is really a confession, then so is mine."
This movie is a timeless classic. Absolutely perfect
Total garbage !
Легендарное кино 🍿 ❤

Best training dialogue/line:
“Charlie‘s idea of R&R is a bowl of rice and a little rat meat”!
Solo is so young here.
Always wondered if Dennis Hopper was acting or not?
Best line in the movie was left out.....terminate.....with extreme prejudice.
Why'd they send the Captain in when they had forward units deployed already?
Great movie/
I’ve been hyperfixated on the Vietnamese since I was 14. I need to find a career related to it somehow

Thank you. Redux sux. The film was perfect as is.
2019 version is the best imo
The Final Cut is the only one to watch.
Glad you Brits can appreciate cinema
