Great idea. My grandmother always saved the hair from her brushes, and she'd spread it around her garden to deter some animals from going in her gardens.
As always, WONDERFUL TIPS! Now to make my family happy with lots of little pies so I have extra time to use it the gardens 😊😊 They will love this idea, lol
Great idea that I had totally forgotten about! My granny did this minus the solar lights and it was very effective. We have about half the animal kingdom wandering through our property, so definitely going to put this plan into action! ❤️🇺🇸
That’s so funny 🤣” half the animal kingdom “ I feel like I have a lot of that same kingdom… raccoons, opossums, squirrels, rats, mice, stouts and many birds. It’s craziness! I’m not happy when they continually knock over my pots with veg in them though!
Unfortunately city critters don’t seem to be deterred by shiny or lights. I bought a really cheap plastic bird netting with 1” squares. 100ft roll cost like 5 bucks. I just cut a length off and drape it over. The pollinators still have room to do their job, but keeps the critters away.
My sister makes a solution of three raw eggs, 1/4th Milk & mix in water and set outside to rot..shake it up then spray on your plants. Not one animal eats her plants! If it rains, respray
add another fence of any type of material five or six feet away from the existing fence and deer will not jump over because they don't have depth perception. may not be that cheap but it works and will last a very long time. for the other critters that come out at night, motion sensor lights (like the one's you just did a video on) about 12 to 18 inches off the ground works very well. again not cheap but will last a very long time. combine that with live traps and you will greatly reduce loss of crops. cayenne peppers are also supposed to be good for squirrels and what not. got that from someone who i trust though. bird netting/ chicken wire for strawberries and the like works great as well. we tried the aluminum pie pans and they didn't last very long at all. the wind just beat them up pretty quick like. i mean before that season was done. thanks for the video.
I know if you ueinate around the outside edge of your garden it will keep them away. If you live too close to the neighbors, etc, urinate in old container and carry it to the garden. So start collecting from all your family lol
I'll try it....there was a rabbit in my garden this morning. The fence holes are big enough for them to get through. I watched it go right out through the fence! I also may add some fencing with smaller holes, but it will have to go all the way around.
Going to try this! We have 3/4 of an acre fenced in for our German shepherd and several Apple trees, the free jump out 4 foot fence nightly to chew our trees and eat the apples before they can even begin to ripen. Thank you!
It just occurred to me after ordering a bunch of 10 cups or ramekins… I have so many used canning rings that have been damaged from the dishwasher that I’m going to try using those out in the garden I’ll make enough noise for sure! Somethings been eating my neighbors Tomatoes. We think it is the bear we see coming from the woods behind the property. Could also be dear… I don’t think it’s the rabbits they like the bush beans/sunflowers! The bear took a whack at my pumpkins last year. I hope this works. I need the pumpkins for my son’s wedding in October. Peace
Only animal we have issues with are squirrels, little devils eat my strawberries, and I don't think a pie tin hanging will work for these little guys. We thought about buying one of those traps and catch and release them somewhere safe, we have a national forest near here, but we want to make sure we do it at the right time of the year when they aren't taking care of babies. But hey, will give this idea a shot, never know, thank you.
Awesome idea ! Many thanks! I have opossum's and tree rats and sometimes racoons that eat my plants. And I live in the city no where near the mountains any wilderness.
@@susans9491 They are Rats that nest in palm trees and come down to find food. We have 2 huge palm trees out in front of our apt complex and 4 smaller ones too. Look up tree rats and you'll see them. Ours are brown color
My biggest problem for my little garden, heck even a few potted plants are feral cats. Either they’re laying but most importantly they’re pooping in both of them. Anyone have any ideas how to keep them out?
trap them and perhaps take them to the shelter or farther away from your home. or dispatching them with 00 buck shot, seems like overkill but it's far more humane that a tiny 22 cause you missed the head and hit the hind quarters or some such. shot a squirrel with a 22 and he just jumped and ran off don't know how long it took him to expire. so just go with the 12 gauge using 00 buck shot and it will make short work of it. a bit messy yes but no suffering for days. the cayenne pepper that i spoke of in my comment on the vid. may work for cats as well. oh and i almost forgot electric fence. not cheap but it works.
I'm in UK, & I know People with Cat problems do get Lion Manure from Zoos, you can get it online too. You spread it around your perimeter, other Cats think a Big Cat is nearby. Can you get some in USA.
This sounds a little AHEM especially for me.... haha. But if you have boys and or men in your household have them pee around your garden. Animals respect a marked territory. It also works to help keep coyotes , dogs raccoons and skunks away from your chickens and coop. Of course if you live in a neighborhood you'll have to have your Gents do this at night but it has worked for us so far. Once or twice a month seems to be sufficient.
I never had those small tin pie pan but I had the big 8 and 9 in pie pan that I save all year from dinners. And like your mom and dad I used string. It's what I had on hand or the baling twine that our neighbor would use to build his hay with that work awesome too. Love your channel keep up the good work and may God bless you continually
There is another way you could prevent animals from entering your garden, so it's not necessary to build a fence. For sure building a fence should help to keep animals out of your garden, but I can think of one other way that could prevent animals from eating your food. You chose to make your garden completely vulnerable, so by putting up a fence it should help to prevent animals from entering your garden, and then eating your food. I still believe your garden is vulnerable, but not, so much. You should try to remember 1 thing. Animals can smell just like you, and me. If you would have tried to eliminate the smell of your food before growing your food then the odds of animals approaching should go down, or maybe you would not see any animals near your garden, and your food.
Great idea. My grandmother always saved the hair from her brushes, and she'd spread it around her garden to deter some animals from going in her gardens.

Thats a great idea. The rabbits have been nibbling on my beans.
Hang cut down panty hose with Irish spring soap inside works on most
I'm literally 2 seconds in but wanted to say your hair looks so cute thrown in a bun🥰
Motion Sensor sprinkler works great.

We have tons here too... we need more critters that eat mosquitoes... those buggers will carry you off.
@@HomesteadCorner Yes! And lately we have deer flies, which I especially hate!❤️🇺🇸

That's a great tip. I use those little pie tins in my garden, pour beer in it for the slugs. Lots of uses.
Brought to mind the tornado movie with the older lady and all her wind chimes. 😊
THANK YOU!! Always battling the rabbits....
Thank you, so much, for this great tip. 🙏❤️👍🌹🌻💫🌟✨✝️
Cool idea Jinne. 👍
Poor Apple Tree.🍎
I guess being 20 feet up has it's bonuses. Lol.
TFS HC, take care & keep really busy everyone. ❤🙂🐶
Hello have a great day.

Hi Jinne 👋🏻
Hi Maria 👋
Sounds like the freezer should be full of venison and all other sorts of protein.
I got a set of wind chimes in my garden and so far no deer but will also try the solar lights
Great tips!
Ingenious!👍
I wonder if it will help keep any of the bugs away with it reflecting….one could always hope, lol.
