I grew up on arments pie mash and I worked there as a Saturday girl in my school days, Roy and Cheryl are lovely people and I loved working for them they made you fill like family, it is the best pie mash from the best people and I do pop in when I'm in London I would eat it every day if I could so anyone that hasn't tried it when in London visit arments enjoy :0),
I'm a West Londoner ,but my brother told me about your shop off the Walworth road ,in the 90 s I must say one of the stand out pie shops I've ever tried 🇬🇧🍀👍🏼
We've just returned to Canada from our vacation in UK. We stopped in at Arments for pie, mash & liquor. Over the years I've eaten pie & mash from numerous shops, but Arments" was amazing. Keep up the good work guys!!
I also grew up on arments pie and mash and loved it. I know own my own pie and mash shop and if it was half as good as arments I'd be a happy lady. We've had some great reviews, I agree with the comment please use the shops as it's the only way we stay in business.
I grew up just off the Walworth road. I remember eating in Arments when it was opposite East street market. Glad to see its still going strong. I recommend everyone who sees this clip should nip down to Arments for double and double. However, all pie and mash shops should be frequented as often as possible. If we don’t use them we lose them.
Blimey mate, I lived on Deacon Street, my mum took me through East Street so often as a kid, to the same one. Sadly, I live in Houston, Texas now, how I'd love to visit just once more. There's loads of Brits in Houston, not so many Londoners, even fewer cockneys. Lovely memories thanks to Arments.
We don't have this kind of pie culture in Scotland but we do at the same time. Our pies by at bakery are round thin crust and reminds me of my child hood
My parents moved from Glasgow to London. The Scotch Pie and Pie n Mash are my fav pies! The Scotch Pie used to be served with Hot Peas and vinegar! So similar to Pie n Mash. But I think you don’t see Pie n Peas anymore?! Except maybe at the football?!
I had lockdown pie n mash with liquor tonight, fresh from Arments. Delicious delivery. I feel so full and so satisfied. I’ve just reordered for in a fortnights time.
I grew up on Young's pie and mash, Brixton. It was a double pie, double mash for me and nothing less. When I was about 9 or 10 the cost for a single pie, mash and liquor was 9d (old money). Our pub sells Manzies pie and mash at £14 a head. Nice, but never worth that kind of money. I make my own pies now-the traditional way: bottom crust made from suet and the top just short crust pastry. And don't forget the chili vinegar.
Aaarrrgghhh, been stuck in Spain, for family reasons and then lockdown since last October (2019), so watching this is making me so home sick and bleedin' hungry! ARMENTS pie n mash

what's pastry do they use for the pie top? I tried using shortcrust but came out quite hard. is it a rough puff? suet for the bottom came out amazing but the top I can't get right.
Yeah. Shame my dad and me went there loads of times. There's a caf on askew road that do a version but pies are pukkaTM. Also one on Portobello which is really touristy. We have to dig deep but they are out there.
No we don't pre-cook the meat, it is cooked within the case of the pastry at a very high temperature, and we do not use gravy browning. This is the authentic way to make traditional pies and what gives them their unique flavour.
im so cockney that once i was diagnosed with having a lack of pie & mash in me body, so quick as a flash manzes of tower bridge road donated to my cause, they replaced my kidneys with pies and pumped liquor in me veins, i always have mash on my mind but im not saying what they did with the eel,,,,, COYL
I've never had pie and mash, liquor and eels. It's all pie, chips and gravy in the north. I'm coming to London in April for a real good touristy mooch. Arments is now certainly on my to do list. Trouble is if I love it, will you consider opening a branch in Manchester??
@@StefanNield12 Bit of a late reply Stefan, sorry. Three years late better than never:) I tried the liquor. Really wish we had London style pie and mash up here.

you don't use gloves in a commercial kitchen. YOu have strict hand washing routines.
