I was there. At one particular performance at Carnegie Recital Hall, George Maciunas gave me a sackbut to play instead of my trumpet for one of the pieces he wrote. And I still have it. Jed Curtis asked me to bring it to him when I went to Las Vegas to visit him. At a performance in Wiesbaden, Yoko Ono gave me her book, “Grapefruit.” And I still have it.
"bigger and more effective than Dada" Lol. Not really. Not only did dada directly influence fluxus - so there goes that argument - it's one of the roots of modern art in general.
I view fluxus as an iteration directly correlative to Dada - your reduction of Dada is entirely anecdotal. No mention of players either? Maciunas, at least? And if it goes beyond Art, why reduce the totality with is? Why not in this manner - What are Fluxus? Perhaps even - Fluxus? What the flux?
Sean, this is not MY reduction. As listed in the details and shown at the beginning of the video, this is a commentary on Fluxus by Allen Burkoff, and only a small segment of the full audio commentary at that. This video was intended to be a presentation of one perspective on Fluxus for the purposes of a graduate music seminar presentation.
Kallie Rogers Kallie...sorry...ranting was indiscriminately directed towards the speaker: meant as a general response to the ideas presented; and ending with facetious humor. I assumed others would understand whom "your" was referring to in my post considering your description and the title at the beginning of the video. Apologies for the confusion, thanks for the upload! I found the spam!
art historians aren't supposed to have opinions like 'this movement is more impotrant than this one'. art historians also shouldn't call me a hipster. you don't know me. you don't know my life. you insulted me, my dog, here, in my own house, on the day of my dead cousin's wedding??! (no for reals, disregard this if you're here bc of an upcoming art history exam for instance lol. your professor would laugh you out.)
why am I being called a hipster?
Em Fairchild u r part of the indoctrination of Cultural marxism
right?! im so confused.
Presumably this is a recording at a talk, probably to people labeled hipsters.
: 0 ) Are we Proud Hipsters?
You know that one of the definitions of being a hipster is to deny being a hipster.

The days of Fluxus performances have been immortalized in film and in a book titled “From There to Here,” by Forest Trowbridge, available from Amazon.
This is one of the most entertaining comment sections on a UA-cam video that I have ever seen.
Love the Fluxus non art movement, many thanks for uploading :-D
I wouldn't be comparing Fluxus with Dada if I were you, Allen.
who the fuck is allen?
kallie snyder* (girl who posted it)
@@nolosenoduermo it sais commentary by Allen something, also why am I responding tot an old ass comment lmao
I have yet to hear an actual definition
And that's exactly what they want lol
*pushes chair across the floor
it's the absence of definition that defines Fluxus the most
Too funny
this is not a roblox executor...

Each Movement celebrates its own importance
Is there a video about fluxus that doesn't have such an annoyingly opinionated and obnoxious commentator?
no creo amigo! xd
General rule: If you don't like something, do it yourself, if you can't do it yourself you have no room to complain
@@tarantula-ash fuck off, dude
I read some of his papers and Higgins seems to be the construction of nonsense itself. too opiniated and too obnoxious.
