Well this isn't exactly the video I had planned for today - there is something big behind the scenes that is being planned for Beethoven's 250th, but alas 2020 has been the year it has and things have been impossible to do. I've had a lot of people asking for a playlist of the videos without outros, so I put together a whole compilation of them for those who wish to listen to the more relaxing ones all in one sitting :D By the way, I'll be hanging out around Discord more these holidays, so if you want to come chat, join me here ♥ bit.ly/RousseauDiscord
Tears rolling down my face as I listen to these glorious masterpieces. Why? Some of them I learned from Mrs. Prager, who charged $1 for my half-hour lesson. My final recital in 8th grade was Fifth Nocturne. Took lessons in college in my thirties, and worked hard on Moonlight Sonata. Heard and fell in love with Rondo alla Turca, and tried to master it myself, in my fifties. Today I am 74, and hearing these beloved melodies reminds me how truly blessed I have been to have this music in my life. My baby grand piano sits quietly, beckoning me by its presence to warm its keys, my music stowed inside its bench. Although I never performed as beautifully as this pianist, the joy of classical music has been a constant my entire life. And the tears stream on.
Im sure it must have been beautiful either way. Passion is the true magic this world lacks many times but you are one of the few that can still feel it and i respect you for that.
it's not preforming better than someone, it's how you preform. How much emotion you put into the music. Your story showed me the dedication you have to the piano. And I have to say I'm very thankful for someone like you to be in the world.

Where are you guys watching from? I'm curious how you'll be spending this very unique holiday season. Are you learning any of the pieces in this video?
Leave this comment so that someday if someone likes my comment I will come back and listen to this peaceful music. Keep everyone safe. I hope whoever listens to this music, you will find healing and peace of mind. Fight!🥰❤
Maybe my comment will be lost in the ocean of comments but Rousseau, remember that your performings may make someone fall in love, make someone cry or smile and these feelings are gifts from you to us . You made the world a more beautiful place to live just by your own. I wish you have a beautiful and amazing life just like your performings. Thank you❤
I don't know if you read these comments or not. But I just have to say, thank you. This video has made such an impact on my life and my children's. I have 3 toddlers who are autistic and have struggled terribly with sleep issues. I noticed one of my daughters had a fascination with piano music and that's when I came across your channel. I put this video on every night at bedtime for them and they are actually sleeping through the night now. Their moods have improved, no more meltdowns, after 2 years of silence, my daughter is starting to actually say some words. All because they are actually able to sleep properly now. So thank you. I hope you make more of these long videos. My entire house loves them!
Moonlight Sonata is one of my grandmother's favorite compositions. Once, thanks to this video, I learned how to play it. She was glad and proud of me and almost every evening I played for her. After her death, the Moonlight Sonata changed its meaning for me and now I can't hold back my tears listening to this music. I am grateful to the author for this video.
*“Life is like a piano; the white keys represent happiness and the black show sadness. But as you go through life's journey, remember that the black keys also create music.”*
OMG my heart is melting! I have played piano since I was only about 5, but I never could afford lessons. I've had a keyboard since I was a kid, but it's rusty, and old. It barely works anymore and the speakers crackle. Music has been my most beloved companion through my 40 years of life, through marriage, a child, divorce, illness, military service... Never let your talents go, my love!

There's one side of me that listens to Metallica, slipknot, led zeppelin, motley crue, stuff like that, then there the other side of me that rarely comes out which is this music, its so peaceful and calming, I love it
God damn! Every. Single. Time. I'm listening, I'm working, I'm listening, I'm working. Then all of sudden, a tune comes on that is so breathtakingly beautiful that I have to stop what I am doing and go see who is playing it. And every time I do that, it's Debussy. He does it for me. Thank you Rousseau for your beautiful playing and collaboration of all these pieces.
I find it very difficult to study in silence, and even harder to study with music with words, so this compilation has been an absolute lifesaver and will probably continue to be one as I go into doing my GCSEs. Thanks Rousseau, you play beautifully
on a different note, Vivaldi's Winter is what I think to be genuinely one of the best crafted pieces of classical music - Clair De Lune will always take the top spot for me but DAMN does that 'chorus'(?) in Winter go hard
@@madelinekainber5416 I didn't really have a problem with that, but I listen to this because why not? Also, I really recommend listening to Rick Astley's other songs besides Never Gonna Give You Up, especially his Reimagined album, which is just GLORIOUS.
I played this for my one month old and she loved it. It’s crazy how her emotions would change to the feel of each song. I will play this for her everyday now! 🥰
I know probably no one cares, but I have been having a rough time dealing with depression. Yesterday was my first day listening to classic music on a playlist, and there was this moment where the song “daydreaming” came out and I just couldn't stop crying, not because I was feeling sad but because I was feeling something I had never felt before. This man is amazing.
Well, you can be sure now, cause I do care.... . most, including me, have had rough times dealing with depression and yea, pieces like these do help a lot. I really hope you can pass through this, it will be alright x.
People do care. If you find or think no one else cares then pray. One man will always care for you. Give Him your troubles and they shall be taken care of. If nothing else give your sadness to The Father. He will watch over you. Be careful, and I will pray for you, and I hope you get better.
me too! i love classical music, it's so peaceful, and at the same time you can hear how passionate the composer was. it doesn't need words, it's so beautiful!
I’ve had a terrible day today, but just laying in bed and listening to these beautiful pieces has really made me feel a lot better. Well done, you played these beautifully.
Rousseau is just so good, he inspired me to make a piano channel, motivates me to keep going. might be slow progress on youtube but at least i get to do what i love and share it to more people
I´m from Austria(near Germany) and always listened to English music bc German is not a very beautyful language to write pop songs but today I was very happy to know that some of these song have German titles and out there were some talented Germans and Austrians who wrote wonderful music. This video made me feel very proud of where I´m from and wich language I speak. Ich wünsche euch allen noch einen wundervollen Tag!(I hope you all have a wonderfful day!)
the thing is you can be from anywhere and still enjoy music. Music is the ONE and ONLY thing that can truly bring us together and unite us no matter where your from where your heading or what language you speak you can still enjoy the same music as someone else no matter who you are and it is truly magnificent how uniting music is. Even if we don't get along we can put aside our differences and listen to music it calms the body and speaks to the soul in a way words can describe I have been touched by music and blessed to have the ability to hear these beautiful songs and to let my soul be touched in a way it never has. some people dont have that luxury.
@@ferdinand8801 I know that music is one of the if maybe the ONLY thing that brings us together, wich is kinda sad, but it's not only music, it's art in general. Storys, poems, paintings, songs, everything in the art world has a meaning and everyone has something of it, in my opinion one of the greatest inventions of humans. But it's just a sad fact for me that German music these days is just not my taste, classic music from Austrian and German composers in the other hand is just music on the piano, and it's something that I like and proud of that these kind of places are popular and from my Country.
Nothing but love in this comment section, we need more people like all of you in this world. People who are drawn together by something rather than material, drawn together by love, love for music, love for each other, and passion in life, a music in each others souls all strung together in the same chord, in unison, together as one.
I've not yet had time to write out the tracklist of the compilation - would anyone like to help put it together with the timestamps and the original video titles? Reply with it to this comment and I'll put it in the description, crediting the YT username of the first one :)

Back then I don't know what this feeling is that whenever I listen to classical music, I feel every positive mood in my body. That's just how I explained it back then. Now, I just learned why I love classical music so much is because my father always play these piano pieces since I was a baby and he said it helped me calm down or make me fall asleep. So now, Imma play classical music as well to my future children just to make them love classical music too.
I just wanted to say to the 1% watching, may your soul be fulfilled with happiness and peace. These days there’s a lot to stress and think about, but there are people who care about you like the person making this video. No ads no bs just straight relaxing rain for 8 hours. Bless the person(s) seeing this comment
Thank you for the exquisite visualization of the music. My s/o is now nearly deaf after a youth enriched by the music no longer audible that missing brings only tears. This beautiful visible interpretation is a gift.
back in 5th grade my teacher would frequently turn on classical music for everyone to relax and study to. I hated it. I don't really know why, but every time I just wished she'd turn it off. It made me anxious and I just wanted to move my body, like a metronome I would try to tap the beat, or my own beat lol. I think it just instilled such relaxing emotion in me that I was scared I'd fall asleep in class or something, or maybe I was afraid people would think I liked it. No matter what then, 8 years later im now an aspiring pianist. Feels like forever ago.
Nobody should feel afraid to like this music, i used to listen to piano music when i was little and my classmates thought i was weird for not also liking mainstream pop music. Jokes on them i can actually play an instrument now.
In 3rd to 5th Grade, my teachers put on classical piano music in the background and I really loved it. Never knew the name of any of the music(I think some of them were in this video), but they were really relaxing to hear while doing activities, assignments, and breaks. The music was like our motivation to be at school. Then Middle school and onwards were just pretty depressing and boring.
The artist played so beautifully. I'm the only one in my friend circle who listens to these pieces of absolute beauty. My friends think this is uncool. Little do they know how blessed we're to be able to enjoy such music.❤️❤️
I think you are very wise for your special taste of music. Some people cant appreciate or see things like we do. Everyone has a special taste to music and thinks of it in their own way but lets just relax and listen to these masterpieces and know, that we are one of the lucky ones who listen to this kind of music even though many hate it.
Same here..... sometimes my circle dont understand what im doing. Listen to such beautiful songs, paintings, crochetings, sitting without word for hours...😁
It sure is a masterpiece. I almost always go back to it as my favorite. It’s important to appreciate other amazing works that provide different feeling too, especially darker tones.
Whenever I'm feeling sad or depressed, I just hop onto UA-cam so I can listen to some classical music. This is definitely my favorite channel. You do really great on the piano!
Just to let you know: UA-cam doenst do the ads The Person who made this can decide if she wants to use ads and she clearly did a lot because she gets money out of it but yes i agree with what you said its super annoying
Classical music really is special. I don't think any other music can connect to me like this. I enter a 4th dimension. One of imagination and peace. One piece can easily summarize one's life. To be a master of classical music is to be a master of emotion.
funny enough: this video got me into classical music. When I listened to it for the first time and heard Tchaikovsky's 'Waltz of the flowers' I almost started crying because I had heard that piece a million times in my childhood, but forgot about it until I heard it again that day. So, thank you for that, Rousseau😊
When everything is too loud, when I am tired and just need to feel even a little calmer, I listen to music like this. Your piano playing is absolutely magnificent, thank you so much for sharing your talent with people like me. The piano has always been by far my favourite instrument.
(dont mind this just making timestamps for myself on pieces i'm gonna *attempt* to learn) 17:35 - serenade 26:20 - liebesleid 1:28:47 - arabesque no 1 36:06 hard but eventually learn/progressively in parts if anyones interested,, heres an update 2 weeks later: finished serenade and halfway through arabesque no. 1 im not that great at piano so goes to show that you can definitely learn these pieces!!
we have the EXACT SAME Taste in music. I swear I was creating a list with pieces I was going to learn too and then I see your comment and I just thought wow the exact same pieces, love it
I just wanna say that I often come back to this video to study or write stories. It makes me focus a little bit better and contain such beautiful pieces. Thank you for that
I spend most of my time on UA-cam following political commentary. I couldn't take it anymore and the all-knowing algorithm sent this to me. I'm so grateful.
Whenever u feel that your thoughts r clouded and u r demotivated then no speech but music comes to rescue... It is one of the very few virtues in the world that makes a person different from the rest!!! It is the only answer to the unknown. What science searches, music knows
Today I ask myself, why on earth was this channel not recommended to me before? It has been around for 5 years and I watch/listen to my fair share of classical music here on youtube. If the music you play isn't mesmorizing enough, you also have fantastic visuals to go with it. Thank you Rousseau for making the world a better place.
I put this on so that I could have background music while I worked on my homework; instead, I got distracted watching his hands play so elegantly and effortlessly.
Again, the magic of the internet! My mother has been gone for four years - age 94 - but she blasted classical in the kitchen my whole life, and she also played classical pieces on the piano which I never knew the names of, naturally, though I knew the melodies my whole life. Now, today, I have, after all these years, identified "Chopin - Waltz In C# Minor Op. 64 No. 2" at 1:17:17 as the piece I heard over and over as a 4-year-old boy, lying under the piano bench, blissing out at my mother's playing. She was deaf, too - wore two hearing aids her whole life. Yet music - classical - was a gift she enjoyed her whole life, and she played it LOUD because she was deaf, so the whole house was bathed in Brahms, Beethover, Mozart, all those guys, and we all benefited from it, especially me because i'm a musician. Thank you for this video!
we shall never forget these classical beauties until we die and hopefully keep passing them on to every other generation after. works of art should be known to all no matter what year it is.
Rousseau is just so good, he inspired me to make a piano channel, motivates me to keep going. might be slow progress on youtube but at least i get to do what i love and share it to more people
This playlist is my favorite. The majority of these pieces I've been learning myself, or have already learned, and they bring me so much peace. Music really is timeless.

Has anyone ever taught themselves to play the piano by watching Rousseau's videos?! Because that's what this inspires me to do...absolutely beautiful ♥
Yes, I do that, and I've just finished learning Liebestraum no 3. I know it's not the best way to learn, but I don't want to turn piano into reading with sheet music. I love listening and learning from these videos.
If you have that's very impressive lol, I think at this level it's easier to learn through sheet music (and just in general really, while it can take a while to learn it's absolutely worth it
I swear the moment i opened this video and heard the first notes of clair de lune my tears started roling, it played on the burial of my great grandma so the song means a lot to me
The mellifluous and dreamy sound of the piano touches my heart and fills me with nostalgia. The piano is truly the finest instrument created by humans.
@@alisiamcmahon6283 talent can speed up your piano progress but it isn't needed. Rousseaus interpretations are far better than anything I can play in propably the next 10 years but they aren't on concert level. He beats 99% of piano players but that 1% difference makes a concert pianist. the pieces he plays on this channel don't require talent just hard work starting piano from age 4-5-6-7 would do the trick if he started later its just playing propably 6-10 hours a day (not when he started but to be able to have such a huge repoirtoire) Pieces like mereaux etudes recuire talent this are pieces that maybe 100-200 people in the world out of billions can play.
My dear Rousseau, It is midnight and I am listening in ecstasy to your Chopin Fantaisie Impromptu and so many other such beautiful compositions, what I want to tell you is that Spotify did not have this complete "new arrangement" of All of your magnific collection nor could I ever comment on your performances. I congratulate for this achievement on UA-cam and I believe that you have been excelling! I know that I shall never hear from you, I know how difficult is to address an Artist, never mind a Musician whose concentration is almost body and soul in his work. Thank you dear Rousseau for the pleasure and happiness that your magic piano conveys. Teresa.
When I listen to piano stuffs, I always get the feeling of a calm and nostalgic feeling, It was like sitting on a mountain with a peaceful view as the winds pass through me.
*His parents are great for letting him hone his talent early on I remember listening to this 13 years ago when i was 14 now i'm 27 and i'm stil enjoying it with the same passion.*
The musicians who created these were really a bunch of skillful geniuses to be able to invoke imagery and make me feel things with the sounds they created. Edit: I forgot to add, also the people who learn it. It's not easy to play already existing masterpieces without the similar feel to the original y'know so hats off to you people.

Gosh, thank you so much for all of this. I played for 11 years, and just hearing these pieces again, and the way you're playing them brings me joy like I havn't known since I played. I've been lost for quite some time now, devoid of emotion and understanding. It seems silly to attribute a renewal of those things to a youtube video but it's more than that, as I'm sure everyone knows. So thank you for inspiring me, for bringing something out of me.
I don't know who will need this but, every time you feel messed up, don't forget to take a break and calm yourself. Go make yourself a cup of coffee or tea, stop doing your work for a while, and take few rounds of breathing exercises. Someone told me before, "bad times just like normal times, will pass. Everything is going to be okay". love you
Thank you, quarantine has been rough on me mentally, I started having breakdowns in the middle of classes, which is not a great place to have those, the only people I was talking to were either on my phone or my parents, I love my parents with all of my heart but when they are some of the only people you talk to it starts getting boring and frustrating, I have only actually been on my campus for half a year, which means I have been doing online school for a year and a half now, I have been hiding my feelings my distracting myself with memes and video games and tv, which works for a bit but once you repress all of those pent up issues for months, it all comes pouring out, I know because it happened during the middle of the school year and right now while writing this, sorry for writing for so long, I needed to vent a little bit and trust me that was only a little rant about my increasingly decreasing mental state,
I found this playlist shortly after my cat passed away, the name and music of the playlist, like it was made for me right now. Thank you so much, Delicia, my beloved cat, thank you for the 11 years you have been by my side.
Never took the time to listen to classical music and I must say I've been missing out, despite being into heavy rock, sometimes it's nice to take a break and just relax or be enthralled by more than bass and drum

Despite not having lyrics, I feel like classical music is the best at conveying emotion.
I so agree. It's several hundred years old, yet somehow the things it makes us feel is timeless.
You don't always need lyrics to convey thought and emotion. That is the beauty of some of the great piano composers.
Often times song lyrics don't even match the emotion of the song.

It barely works anymore and the speakers crackle. Music has been my most beloved companion through my 40 years of life, through marriage, a child, divorce, illness, military service...

You're right the only thing this music is missing is alittle bit of Zappa!
Good for that you have moved on to be coming an aspiring pianist.
Clair De Lune always makes me feel like surrounded in blue light and crisp autumn leaves

Thank you for this video!

think more like 2 years
Actually two years
Revising for my concrete tech exam tomorrow, this was posted at the perfect time.
Good luck my guy
Good luck!
can we just mention how beutiful his piano lights and the edit look?
Nobody's talking about him playing, such a talent
The pieces he plays on this channel require no talent (talent can help though) this is just playing piano 10 hours a day for decades
@@KaasIsLekker im so confused on what you're trying to say
@@alisiamcmahon6283 talent can speed up your piano progress but it isn't needed. Rousseaus interpretations are far better than anything I can play in propably the next 10 years but they aren't on concert level. He beats 99% of piano players but that 1% difference makes a concert pianist.
the pieces he plays on this channel don't require talent just hard work starting piano from age 4-5-6-7 would do the trick if he started later its just playing propably 6-10 hours a day (not when he started but to be able to have such a huge repoirtoire)
Pieces like mereaux etudes recuire talent this are pieces that maybe 100-200 people in the world out of billions can play.
@@KaasIsLekker yeah that's true ;)
bro i am this guy is amazing
The skill to do such things is truly astounding.
Спасибо, так глубоко сказали : "ветер, проходит сквозь меня" 🙏
Piano music really touches the soul. I feel every note.
Clair de Lune by Debussy will forever have a place in my heart and soul. I really love it.
Rousseau is just so good, he inspired me to make a piano channel, motivates me to keep going. might be slow progress on youtube but at least i get to do what i love and share it to more people
battoven mozart debusy chopin and more.
Can't describe those masterpieces with any language.
Good to see you again Rousseau, we all miss you!
I don't know who will need this but, every time you feel messed up, don't forget to take a break and calm yourself. Go make yourself a cup of coffee or tea, stop doing your work for a while, and take few rounds of breathing exercises. Someone told me before, "bad times just like normal times, will pass. Everything is going to be okay". love you
thank you so much i really needed it. Take care of yourself too. You are a really good person! love u too
Told myself this for 3 years straight, a couple of hundred mental breakdowns later and iam still not better
Thank you also I'm your 100th like :)
"Try Breathing" -Cole Labrant
Thank you, quarantine has been rough on me mentally, I started having breakdowns in the middle of classes, which is not a great place to have those, the only people I was talking to were either on my phone or my parents, I love my parents with all of my heart but when they are some of the only people you talk to it starts getting boring and frustrating, I have only actually been on my campus for half a year, which means I have been doing online school for a year and a half now, I have been hiding my feelings my distracting myself with memes and video games and tv, which works for a bit but once you repress all of those pent up issues for months, it all comes pouring out, I know because it happened during the middle of the school year and right now while writing this, sorry for writing for so long, I needed to vent a little bit and trust me that was only a little rant about my increasingly decreasing mental state,
The legend came back to give us this early Christmas gift
I found this playlist shortly after my cat passed away, the name and music of the playlist, like it was made for me right now.
Thank you so much, Delicia, my beloved cat, thank you for the 11 years you have been by my side.
The first piece… really hits hard. It reminds me of a sad and happy memory in my mind and heart.
This is the video that really got me into classic. This is my favorite kind of art, it's so beautiful. The piano speaks to me.
Never took the time to listen to classical music and I must say I've been missing out, despite being into heavy rock, sometimes it's nice to take a break and just relax or be enthralled by more than bass and drum
I have consistently listened to this every time I have a major assignment due, and it gets me into the zone so easily. It's my comfort video.
me too😊😊
