Israeli military's crushed morale mirrored in country's economy, with Shir Hever

- Even as it pursues its genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, Israel appears to be falling apart from within.
Members of the ultra-right-wing coalition are sniping at eachother and at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while Israel’s top generals have once again leaked to The New York Times that the government has no strategy for a war the military is now convinced an exhausted and depleted Israeli army cannot win.
We speak about all of this and more with Shir Hever. He joined us about a month ago for an episode of the standalone podcast to talk about Israel’s internal collapse. We talk to him more about significant developments in terms of further disintegration of the Israeli economy, governing structures and society.
Shir is the military embargo coordinator for the Palestinian Boycott Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC) and works on its #ShutDownNation campaign. He is the author of The Privatization of Israeli Security and The Political Economy of Israel’s Occupation.

One day, the IDF’s most celebrated soldier fell into a deep depression. Haunted by the images of all of his defenseless victims, he became consumed with guilt. This happened when Germany went into Poland-- the regular army or 'Wermacht' was asked to commit atrocities against civilians on a regular basis and it quickly took a huge toll on them and caused the morale of the best troops to plummet, because up until then they had a certain delusion they had maintained about it being a 'righteous war' they were fighting and then that was shattered when they had to go massacre some village-- so that's why the "einsatsgrouppen" were created by the SS to do all the "dirty work" and let the regular soldiers focus on regular combat against other armed men..... but in this case, when the whole 'battlefield' is just a walled ghetto of people that have ALREADY been rounded up and imprisoned for decades, then no such "division of labor" is possible AT ALL....

One day, some IDF soldiers were busy making a TicTok video away from the rest of their platoon when they were ambushed. Their platoon commander saw that these soldiers were cut off from the rest, and he made the difficult decision to fire on his own troops to prevent them from being captured. Afterwards, the officer managed to retrieve the TicTok video, the last images of the soldiers while still alive. To pay his respects, he had the footage edited and offered it to the soldiers’ families. He even gave the last testament of the soldiers a fitting title:
“In Loving Memory - Hannibal Director’s Cut”

The way things have shifted in the last 10 months was unprecedented. The US admin was preparing normalization between Saudi Arabia and the apartheid state. Not only that is not happening, but the Arab league agreed that the label of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization should no longer be employed. In other words, they (KSA) did the opposite - they (KSA) normalize ties with Hezbollah.
