What it's Like to Deliver for Chick-fil-A

- Hey Guys! Welcome to day 2 in my week of fun! Since I'm working today, I decided to take you guys along for the ride and talk a little bit about what it is like in a typical day of working at Chick-fil-A making some deliveries. I wish I could have shared even more, but I didn't want to allow for any possibility that someone could sue me or Chick-fil-A for the words I put out there, and I also wanted to make sure I did not release anyone's private information. Nonetheless, I hope this video provides you guys with a fun way of understanding what it's like to deliver for Chick-fil-A and why I love my job so much. My store has our own branded cars! It's so surprising to see someone driving their own car. Lol. And your setup is so interesting! All our heating and cooling bags are grey.
Also my store's delivery is extremely busy, we take about 150 or more total deliveries each day and usually have 5 drivers at a time. It's crazy!
@@harleybrooke6127 Keep in mind, this video is almost a year old, filmed only a couple months after we first launched delivery, so we went through a lot of changes. We didn’t have any cars at this point and were still using those old bags. Now we have 3 company cars with the new dark grey bags you are referring to, which are way cooler in my opinion. I personally hate the gray bags lol i Love the black bags because it lasts longer. We usually have 300-400 deliveries a day and need 7-11 drivers morning shift

@@lulucastillo3981 Hey! Good luck on your interview. It should be just like a normal job interview where they ask you your availability so let them know whenever you’re able to work, if you have your license, if you have any prior delivery experience, and if you are a good fit for the job. Every interview and every interviewer is different, so I can’t pinpoint exactly what they might ask you, but as long as you answer honestly and thoroughly you should be okay! Truthfully, I’ve been working at Chick-fil-A for almost four years and I was one of our startup delivery drivers, so now I’ve been doing it for about a year and I was never interviewed to become a delivery driver. This is all just information I have observed from seeing other drivers be interviewed in my store. Good luck on your interview and I wish you the best!

Im a Chick-Fil-A delivery driver too and this is nothing like what I do

What exactly do you do?
@@berrybestlifestyle9188 Well I work at Chick-fil-A so I do anything around the restaurant that you normally would, and being a delivery driver allows me to drive around and deliver food to people as well.
We have our own cars and I am a full time driver. I've done as many as 26 deliveries. There are others that have gotten up to 35. They reimburse you $2 per delivery if you use your own car, but we have 7 cars so it doesn't happen that often.

It’s not worth it… I just quit after 5 months and the only thing I left with is a messed up car and bills for auto shops.

Wow this is so fancy. I ordered a meal here in Florida and the car was standing right next to the locker which is in front of my house so I thought this was someone that wanted to see the lockers, I couldn’t really tell since there was any chick fil-a signs or anything, there was no evidence that this was a chick fil-a delivery, the person didn’t came either. This one of my first time ordering stuff and I didn’t expect it to be that way.

@@tielaser For a single day I have no idea, but on my paycheck over the two weeks at our location it was always around $120-$150

Hey Seth, what a great video. Any idea how much the average total amount is on your deliveries? Also, what is the highest dollar amount you have ever delivered? I do try to understand how it is profitable for CFA to do deliveries if you are only delivering around 5 on average. Does CFA even make money off a delivery transaction, considering how much money they are paying you and the cost of their delivery cars and gas? I'm guessing the food is upcharged and that there is a delivery charge too. Is there any item that you do not recommend to be delivered? Shakes would be difficult and I would guess the waffle fries get soggy.
Thanks so much for your comment! Usually orders that we get aren’t too big. I don’t know what the highest dollar amount is that I’ve delivered because I don’t pay attention to that. My location is one of the slowest when it comes to delivery so maybe it isn’t as profitable to us specifically, but if you read through some of the other comments on here you’ll see people get way more than 5 deliveries per shift. The food is not upcharged and our delivery fee is only $2. Personally, I don’t think I would order a shake through delivery and you are probably right about the fries, but they are kept in a hot bag so that should help with the quality just a little bit. I appreciate your feedback and all of your questions!

I just got an interview for Tuesday to be a delivery driver I thought they provided a van :( can you work another position if available ? I’d rather work In the kitchen
Back of house, which is kitchen, is different from front of house. We actually do have three company cars now so I am no longer driving my own car. A lot has happened since I made this video. We've had our delivery service for less than a year so we've made a lot of changes.

do you have to wait for the orders in your car? If there are no orders, they make you do other things inside the restaurant?
Yep. When you have no orders you just help out in the restaurant wherever is needed
They don’t give us delivery drivers shirts at my location 😔
What?! That's a bummer dude because our shirts are super comfy.
What’s the average pay 💰 for deliver driver for chic fil a ?
So if you're hired as a driver, you're also considered a regular dining room/ drive through member? Basically you're not a driver the whole time?
I’m sure it depends on your location. If you have a lot of deliveries consistently at your location then you probably will be driving around for your whole shift. My location has never been too busy with delivery so when I wasn’t taking any orders I was helping restock or filling any positions where they needed help.
I was hired as a driver. Chic fila uses a third party company, have to do 1099... Would they still expect me to work in kitchen and drive thru? If so, that's a deal breaker
@@therealfronzilla this is probably way too late, and I’m not a driver nor does our location have a drive thru, but whenever they do not have orders to deliver, you are just helping up front. This could be calling out orders, restocking, helping struggling stations, stuff like that.
I’m thinking of apply this job but right now I have a car but planning for an tesla soon because I think it going be much easier for the job because the tesla when there another order to be delivered I can get in the car step on the brake throw in gear and leave.
You go for it. After 3 years I''m getting a little tired of CFA, but it has been a fun run for sure, and I will always remember being a delivery driver for that brief time.
No way 🤦♂️here the drivers get 1 Dollar per delivery so let’s say you have a delivery 8 miles away that’s 1 dollar if you complete 10 deliveries a day would be 10 dollars 😳🤦♂️ that’s so messed not even enough for maintenance plus gas 😒

Yep. It may depend on the location though, I'm not sure every location delivers.
Only the top stores in the chain seem to be doing delivery.
Just got hired and im going to start tuesday, do they provide you with the cooler thing for the food?
Also do they have their own map app to find the customer? Just because i dont take highways i just go on axis roads and use google maps to avoid the highway

The ones that do what? All they do is prepare the food that comes on screen.
This sucks, I would only want to make deliveries, that's pretty much it.
What are the cons of the job?
Cons of Chick-fil-A in general are that you are on your feet for long hours, though common with most jobs like this. With delivery, over the summer months when we had a lot of orders coming in, I actually found myself getting sunburned because of how much I was in a car in the sun. Other than that I love my job and my coworkers.
have you ever had anyone pay you in cash
For delivery orders, no. It doesn’t work like that. I took a catering order that paid in cash when I got there, and I’ve received cash tips before.

It varies by location but at my location it is minimum wage which is $13

In Florida it's $10 base minimum wage plus tips. I make around $17 hr which I think is low compared to how many deliveries I'm getting done and the success of the store. Tips are barely averaging $3 per delivery.
It's all fun and games until your car gets totaled out and you have no way back to work. 58 cents a miles not going to buy you a new car 😂

You are paid hourly, but you get tips for every delivery. Out location pays the least in Southern CA currently at $14.75 for me

You guys seem to be just starting out. We have 6 to 8 drivers for lunch time. We can't see our tips till we get our paycheck which bothers me and they seem lower than they should be.
