they fought aginst PLO at the bigining and later aginst Hezbollah

***** The difference between Lebanese Arabic and Moroccan Arabic are huge though. I think most Arabic speakers in your country are from Morocco. I'm Lebanese and I live in the Netherlands, even I can barely understand them, actually not at all.
The throat sounds in Dutch are barely as harsh as they can be in Arabic btw. In Lebanese Arabic we still have the harsh G which Flemish people say really softly. And also all the other throat sounds that are almost only used in Arabic. Yet it is often called the most feminine and soft sounding Arabic. Even though both Arabic, people who hear me talking on the phone with my mom never think I speak Arabic (if they even know the language Moroccans speak is either Arabic or Berber).
And of course most Dutch people only can say I'm either Moroccan or Turk, just because of my skin colour and black hair. I don't even have the basic looks of these two xD
***** we define our self as lebasnese before anything else...we are very proud in our Phoenician heritage..then we say we have "arabic face"(arabic view)...but it's like we are mixed of european culture and arabic culture...
ali mansour Actually there is not much pure arabic people on earth, except Saudia or Yemen (even for them I'm not sure), for exemple people from north Africa clame that they are arabs, but they must be 10% arabs as they are mostly a mix between Phoeniciens (yes they are too), Romans, turkish, berbers,Spanish, French and even north europeen blood....but Arabic identity is not about that, it's about language, culture, history, and Lebanon is the center of the Arabic culture, they where one of the founders of the Arab league, they have the closest language to pure arabic in the entire arabic world, and they are (unfortunately) involved in every arab conflicts (Israel, Syria...), and there influences are very similar to all the other "arabic/mediterranean" countries (turkish, pheonician, french, roman...)so I would say that they definitely are arabs (in the modern meaning of the word) :)
