  • Tanaka and Kaden are two Australians of African descent, each pushed to the brink of suicide from the daily prejudice and hyper-visibility of being black in Australia. We hear from psychiatrists, experts and those directly impacted, as we explore how being African in Australia can often be a case of death by a thousand cuts.
UNHEARD is a confronting look at racial issues in Australia as told by those who have experienced them first-hand. This investigative documentary series from LADbible Australia uncovers first-hand accounts of racial injustice, while exploring the shocking statistics behind the broader issues.
Our six-part documentary series UNHEARD is streaming now.

I live in Australia, Perth, I'm an African. Once...a man, a white man obviously, rudely shouted at me, "U should go back to wherever you came from!" And I politely asked him, "When are we, u and I,going back to our respective home countries, since we both don't belong here???"

You did what did to fight and defend yourself. The principal was just not doing anything . Well done mate for being brave and sharing your story . Hopefully parents who teach racism will think twice and change the narrative

This was heartbreaking. Racism just doesn't make any logical sense to me. I'm convinced that those who are racist are actually missing an essential portion of their brain needed for development and communication because racism isn't a normal human function.

I'm very sorry that you went through that horrible experience. I hope there is a change for you and for Australia. I think you were very brave for sharing that experience and hopefully, the schools will teach about racism and how to stop it.

I can relate but also tired of our stories being about racism honestly.

These stories matter. Doesn't supprise me, look how they have treated the original inhabitans. They even think Nick Kyrios doesn't belong in Australia because of his skin colour, but they are the ones that don't belong there.

As an Australian, this saddens me and just would not happen on my watch. In my experience, Africans are popular because they bring a unique experience. Hope life gets kinder for you snd you are also kind to yourself ... 🙏

Iam a Zambian and lived in Australia for while. I must admit at first they were episodes of it but I think it coz they didn't know much about where I was from and the African continent as much that was shown to the Aussies is a people that are poor, dirty and incapable of anything. I watched a DOCO as they call it whist attending about AFRICA and what's portrayed, yoooooh. Anyways, Iam told things are changing...as iam back home now...., thank you to the brother for sharing...this will wake people up. This racism issue is concentrated in the EASTERN parts of Australia...

Tell all my black brothers and sisters in Australia and around the world and then the United States realize that we were here first 2.5 billion years ago we were here the black community was here billions of years ago long before these other groups of people were here😊 don't sell yourself short because you think that you are less or second-class citizens because that's not the truth we were on this planet first 🥇😊

The white society in Australia hasn't yet legislated Racism.
As of 2012 I am optimistic that the Adult society in Australia will finally accept all members of the community in the nation.

The Australian AFL is a very racist organisation ever since the year 2000 and 2001.
Yet the Black youth should be brave and capable in all their endeavours from Sport law to the Medical Field.

Are there any Black or Latino people here that has lived in both North America (US/Canada) here and Australia/NZ? I'm curious which continent you find is worse in terms of racism.
