I wrote down your suggestions. I'm 67. I've had to say no to well meaning people when they give me things. I live in an apartment. There just isn't room. Not that I don't contribute to my own mess. I don't go to the thrift store as much as I used to. I can't have it all. People who gave me subscriptions to magazines have stopped. I asked them to. I'm going through my myriad of paper's. I've shredded so much. It's taken me time.
My 8 month old grandson passed away February 1st of this year. That's been a tough one. But I know the Lord has everything in his hands.
Either we change or, stay stuck. We can get overwhelmed and not enjoy life.

You are such a blessing to me. You inspire me to choose more carefully how I spend time and what I spend my time on. I turn 78 in three days and I feel as you do, that for so much of that time I spent letting life just happen. Thank you for your insight and encouragement. God bless you in your ministry 🙏🏻

This morning around 5:30 am in north central Alabama, just after daybreak. My husband and me saw the most beautiful rainbow for about 10 minutes. I felt it was a gift from God, made just for my husband and me. He is battling lung and kidney cancer. The Lord really helps us. Bless you sweet lady, I’ve just recently started watching you.

Thank you for this video. Number six is one I realized a couple of years ago I needed to address as the Lord had put people in my life that needed to hear His Word however our time together needed to be limited. Over time I have been able to address with them the drama they bring to so many situations and what God’s Word says and also what the stressors in their lives are doing to their health. For us as believers we need to rely on God and go to prayer and ask for His wisdom.

Lovely video! Letting go of toxic people is a gift we give ourselves. I am not the most religious person however I believe that God gave us power of choice every second of the day and he wants us to be fulfilled in our passage on earth. So letting go of toxicity is a choice we can make to make the world a better place.

I’m so glad this video popped up in my feed. Very good tips. I would supplement the point about staying away from emotionally draining people by saying those people can be people you don’t personally know but who you interact with on social media. For example, I try to avoid social media by people who I disagree with politically, but I’m now thinking I also need to limit my exposure to those I agree with politically because their constant complaints and harping are emotionally draining and only get me upset about the current situation. I think this is good advice no matter what “side” you are on politically - or on any other emotionally charged issues. It’s all just so draining.

Thank you so much for this encouragement. As wives and mothers it can be such a challenge to know what we truly want and what *our* priorities are. After spending years (decades!) on that magic carpet helping everyone else around us accomplish their needs/goals/priorities it can take some effort and introspection to learn what is important to US now. It’s been so long since I’ve had the luxury of considering my personal priorities ~ not complaining, just recognizing where I am and why that question is so difficult for me. And letting go of the guilt for saying “no” because of not wanting to disappoint anyone, ever! Gratitude comes more easily because there is so much to be grateful for always. You are a treasure and, speaking of gratitude, I’m grateful for you! 🌸

It is amazing, how we hold on to the same things or events and visit them daily, sometimes several times a day...while it does seem that the west is empowering victimhood and ignoring flaws in personal responsibility, i see it starting to change...Its a ploy from the adversary to keep us riled up, angry, hateful and depressed. Before we know it our earth life is ending.and whats worse, in my opinion, is waiting for someone else to change it...we really need to get a good working understanding of the definition of love and evaluate that daily. Everything we need to know is in it...❤

These tips are wonderful, thank you! Each tip is a fresh new perspective & helpful! I cleaned out 2 closets today & filled bags & bags of clothes to go to Bibles for Missions so this was timely! Thank you for speaking of your spiritual priorities & putting God first. It is refreshing to hear you speak openly about your faith. Yes, I am one who blunders & am still learning to set boundaries with others. I do often feel as though life is running me, rather than vice versa. I'm working on this! It is good to hear you speak about this also, thank you. I look forward to watching your videos on minimizing my clothing (especially after cleaning closets all day, ha!). 💖

Thank you so much Catherine, again this is so real. I am struggling with the emotionally draining step, as my mother is that person for me. She is now in a nursing home, and I am the only family close by. She is not in crisis, just negative about everything, and has been for years. I am trying to discern how much God wants me to give in this area. Your tips were great reminders for the other aspects of my life, thank you.

I have a friend that I've known for 23 years. She is very negative and always complaining about something or telling a very negative story about something that's happened to someone in her family. I've been hinting that she needs a more positive outlook but I haven't seen a change. Finally, I was blunt with her saying that if you know a person that you are dealing with isn't going to change and you want change, you will have to be the one to change or you are enabling their behavior. She was hurt by my comment but I don't know what else to do but tell the painful truth at this point. There is no sugar coating things anymore.

I just discovered your channel, I wanted to say I find it incredibly inspirational. I have been trying to implement Number Six in some sort of way with my mother, but find it difficult as I would also like ho to have some semblance of a relationship with her grandchildren. She makes random judgemental and shaming comments to them that I can barely stand it.

    • @TheLifeTidy
      @TheLifeTidy  Рік тому

That is such a difficult balance to find. I will be praying that you find the wisdom you need that honors your mother and your desire for her to have a relationship with her grandchildren but also protects your children.... and you. So difficult. But I have seen people succeed at finding that sweet spot. Sometimes it takes a hard conversation with Mom. And sometimes it takes explaining to your children that your mom came from a different generation and they communicated differently than we do now. And sometimes it takes both. 🙏🤍

7:34 - "be discerning in that"
THAT is the gem in this video
It doesn't matter whenther it's people, places, tings, actions, activities, and especially the media you learn from/consume
EVERYONE wants something from you. Time, atttention, effort, money, eyeballs, anger, action.
    BE DISCERNING
Not everyoen who smiles is your friend.
Not every appointment needs to be met.
Not every video needs to be watched.
Not every person needing your help needs to be helped.
I am not saying "be totally defensive and frugal.
I AM saying "pay attention, and be OFFENSIVE on your time, money, energy, waht you bring in your home, etc. etc.
    YOU CHOOSE!
Someone said "if you don't choose the path for your life, then someone else will. Guess waht their plans are for your life? Not much."
    DISCERNMENT!
And i hear that word more, adn more, and more in our community!

      "and rudely if necessary"
If you have been outside in anything above 10,000 people ...i think it is an easy realization that not only rude, but PHYSICALLY ACTIVELY RUDE can be warranted at times.
      I didn't want it this way...THEY DID.
so, let's give ti to them like a child having a tanturm in aisle 4...and give it to them....HARD!
Walking along the Florida Bay, i am gentle and wonderful, and i love my dogs.
Go to town? I carry a bat.
      "i didn't want it this way...THEY DID!"
