I agree. I think most if not all of their albums are concept albums more or less but the reaction format isn't really working well with listening to entire concept albums from start to end (except perhaps Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon). The Captain would get bored, we'd get bored and nobody would view an hour long reaction video. And even if it's a concept album you can still enjoy single songs off concept albums for musically and lyrically.
@@nikelodeon6852 Oh, really? I've always felt most of the albums had a certain theme they were following but I guess they're not strictly concept albums. So Still Life and Ghost Reveries are the only actual concept albums then?

@@captainmorgan1978 I can get behind this recommendation. April Ethereal is the second track on My Arms Your Hearse, the first being a short instrumental so April Ethereal opens the story, and in my opinion stands on its own equally well.
I love this song so much. The end part always gets me man.. I love when the bass and guitars come in together with that "HUMMMM" during the clean vocals through the end. So good!
This is from Still Life (1999). a concept album which really began their modern, balanced style (which includes Still Life, Blackwater Park, Deliverance, Damnation, Ghost Reveries, Watershed) . The earlier ones are much weaker as far as i am concerned, as they are much heavier and classic death-metal with many acoustic down-tempo melodic sections but with very little clean vocals and that all-important middle ground. since 1999 they really started to use the entire spectrum of this genre. Anyway, you can hear the massive difference in sound here vs the old ones, and in the next one (Blackwater Park) Steven Wilson joined as the producer so the production values as far as sound and mixing is vastly superior.
@@patrikkarlsson9463 Yeah its in album that's the bridge between Orchid and Morningrise and Still life, style wise. But I disagree with the OP, all eras of Opeth have their special moments including their later stuff. Candlelight era has his own flavor.
