The fact that you never stopped making shorts after entering the industry, and better yet, put them straight to UA-cam with no intentions, not a proof of concept, not a flashy "look at the actor I got in this thing", just for fun with your wife and to entertain, is amazing. Best of all, you make a BTS, further shedding any ego, Bravo David, can't wait to see your next Stressful feature and fun short!😉

I find that the short horror films with recognizable actors tend to be bland. Horror doesn't require name-brand on screen talent anyway!

David, for all the amazing things you've taught us about filmmaking over the years, this one really hit me the hardest: "Sometimes it's nice not to worry too much about the details and just have some fun making a movie."
It's so easy to get bogged down in the pursuit of "perfection" we lose sight of why we started making movies in the first place. And the worst part is, it happens so slowly we don't even realize it's happening. At least that's what happened to me... until I saw this. Thank you for reminding me (and all of us) what really matters.
Side Note: You've put everything you have into your art, and your story is motivation to an uncountable amount of aspiring filmmakers throughout the world, like myself. We see you as our filmmaking idol, but none of us can comprehend the pressures that come with The Big Leagues. Glad you found an outlet back to your "Happy Place," you (and Lotta!) deserve it.

The pre-recorded video with the sound cues is a really good idea! You could get those tiny gel pads that you use to stop cabinet doors banging and put one on the end of your thumb or your finger, that way the screen doesn't register your touch when you press it.

I am a HUGE fan of "campfire stories", i.e., short, creepy tales that could be told at a campfire with minimal effort but maximum effect. While I *do* love longer scary films and novels, there's just something about the economy of telling a full story in a short amount of time that increases it's power tenfold. I found your channel completely at random years ago while I was searching for horror shorts, nothing longer than 8 minutes long, and the first one I watched (I thought!) was "Attic Panic" and I was SO impressed by it, I subbed to you before even checking out your actual channel. When I did, I realized I'd recognized Lotta from "Lights Out" and that I'd actually already been enjoying your work! The art of making a short and effective horror film doesn't seem to be as respected as making a full-length feature and that's a tragedy - it takes MUCH more imagination and creativity to make a terrifying 3-minute film than a 3-hour one, if you ask me! Thanks for doing what you love and making the best work you can that's inspiring a new generation of do-it-yourself filmmakers, that's beautiful. 😊
Also, I have to ask - do either of you ever get creeped out or have bad dreams from filming these spooky shorts in your own home?! I wouldn't be able to look at my stairs the same way EVER again!! 🤣😂

Funny thing is that there was a RedLetterMedia video the other day and one of the movies being reviewed on it was basically a bunch of kids trying to make their own Evil Dead movie, and everyone commented on the joy of film-making when you don't have any money and experience, but a whole lot of enthusiasm. So this video reminded me of that, where instead of going for the best possible camera at hand (I presume), one wanted to use an older camera to capture some of that movie making spirit.

It ain’t a Hollywood/Netflix/commercial production etc. Just go out with your friends bring whatever camera, props you have, shoot, edit and post. I adore your channel and your openness between the love of filmmaking versus the technicality of being a director as your job. I have a similar thing where I've made some films and now have a solid day job in a very boring kind of video production, so I find myself getting together with friends and just doing sketches on the weekend with little planning, purely for the fun of why I got into it in the first place.
