Maybe an idea for a futur video but how about "drilling gain modifier"
We can start as Provence to get +25% permanently and then form Holland or Prussia to get +25% (from Prussia permanently ) (+30 from Holland for 25years) (think forming Holland first will be easier since it's closer but since Holland is only temporary, we can form it after forming Prussia)
Then form France to get +50% from ideas and change your religion for Sikh to get +50% more.
We can also form Rum for janissary unit since they have +50%
Add that the +40% from decision (the one that increase your maintenance), +100% from 100 professionalism, +50% for holding Ambras Castle at tier 3)
@@avisdunrandom I mean its something I guess, dunno if its an interesting one to get though, I mean drill is one where you can just... wait a couple more month.
@@LemonCake101well, it would be some fun to send in battle only the armies which have max drill

There was an episode of it in The Orville, I can recommend it.

Republics are when you elect people, and the more you elect people, the more of a republic you are, and if you elect a real lot of people, it's the Roman Senate.
Wait no you have a point
I just imagine the bloated senate apparatus in rome required to do daily elections during a time where humanity has not even figured out where half the planet even is and their fastest mode of travelling is by horse
I am working out the half the planet thing in fairness!
Knowing how Rome used to work, this sounds like something they would do LOL

To be fair, winning 5 elections in a row is really impressive and takes either a tyrant or a genious saint irl.
He is very electable, trust!
Why not both? Putin is almost a genius and almost a tyrant, he's on his 5th term xD
@@celeridad6972 but not a saint
I doubt you could call him a genius by the developments of the past years, either
Certified Franklin Delano Roosevelt classic
Or just a really skilled politician
4:15 "Dividing by zero creates a lot of problems in many cases"
I dare evan say, all cases
Many is a section of all end of the day ;)
I choose to interpret it that you basically play as an anarchistic federation with a a very direct democracy, and the daily elections are meant to represent the fact that your residents basically directly vote on every matter everyday :)
fair enough, in which case these governments are really good at generating monarch points
This is basically what being an Asari in Mass Effect is like. They have a direct democratic system facilitated by magic space technology that basically means every citizen is constantly bombarded with referenda like popup ads.
Somehow magic space technology seems more believable then daily elections...
Very similar concept was used by Alastair Reynolds in his 'Revelation Space' -series.
Major human faction, "Demarchists" (Democratic Anarchists), are able to run a functional society because they're all connected by neural implants that allow them to seamlessly vote on referenda.
Exact description differs between short story 'Spy in Europa' and novel "Prefect" (this could be explained that former is from POV of hostile outsider, and latter is all Demarchists.)
-'Spy in Europa' describes that eventually the Demarchists start voting subconsciously or subliminally. The titular spy considers this disgusting, but he may have been indoctrinated by a totalitarian regime from what I remember (also the entire story is kind of a homage to the Cold War espionage thrillers.)
-'Prefect' features one of the many habitats in Glitter Band (orbiting exoplanet Yellowstone) that more or less explicitly sells some of their voting power - the system analyses people's votes based on hindsight, and gives more voting weight to those who voted "correctly." People living in the said habitat actively participate in all the optional referendum, always making sure to vote on what is most likely going to be the best options in terms of long-term society-wide benefit. Thus, their votes are weighed much more heavily than votes from average citizens. Compensate them for the potential hit on their "social credit score" and they'll vote like you want to. The titular Prefects, who are the police/peacekeeping force, don't seem to be above this or even consider it a bad thing - they lament that the habitat is unable to vote in favour of declaring a state of emergency. (Without going too much into spoiler territory, they could've just assumed the Habitat would vote "yes" if their communications weren't down.)
Some notes:
1) irl Roman republic had elections every year
2) 3:25 not all republics are democracies, there is no guarantee that everyone could vote.
3) 4:11 it's not. Republican tradition penalty is proportional to the term length. So it's multiplication, not division. I can't remember how exactly it's stored in memory and how rounding works but it would cost you either 0 or the minimal unit to re-elect.
1) I know!
2) Yeah fair
3) Oh good point. Eu4 still treats division by 0 to equal 0, I just guess this was an example off.
@@LemonCake101 They should be adults and just define INF and assign it when dividing by 0.
@@abrvalg321 I don't have access to source code, so no idea, my claim comes from other random times I stumbled on a division by 0 in Eu4
Im convinced that the term democracy in its modern form only exists because Britain wanted to distinguish itself from the Central powers in WW1. "We aren't like other monarchies so we can keep ours while getting rid of other monarchies!!!"
Reminds me of Transistor's cloudbank's people voting on everything made everything dull until the antagonists decided to take away people's power
Never heard of this, sounds cool though
The formula for rep trad lost on re-election doesn't involve division. It is simply term length multiplied by 2,5. Multiplication by 0 results in 0. The math works, no work around needed.
Ah fair, yeah I was wrong there. The division by 0 fun fact still stands though AFAIK!
For 100 government reform you can have infinite mana and switch in and out as you want. You take it when you want mana for techs, ideas, deving and when you want to play a war you switch out of it to be able to play.
Oh absolutely
Hi Lemon when switching leaders to remove bad traits remember to do it earlier in the month, at the month tick you were only a 6/5/5 and lost out on 2 mana points that month
Oh yeah for sure
Rome arrives in the arabian desert, Constructs a mega city in the desert in one month
Rome wasn't built in a day, but Rome 2 sure was!
I figured this out too through mods. Always wondered if it could be done normally. Also, 0 year elections can look pretty funny if you give it to the AI.
What the hell is going on in this Rome campaign that you’re currying favours with Carib??
How about stacking negative modifiers ? Like trying to have as much unrest as possible, or the lowest discipline. Could be funny
I did it once before, issue a lot are 'uncapped' so unrest is just get max OE
Is 0% discipline even possible?
80% should be doable. Just play as a Mesoamerican or Incan native with Divine Ideas and get "The Dying of the Light" event (-5%) as well as "A Generation of Cowards" event (-5%) while going through the "Rapid Collapse of Society" triggered modifier (-10%). Watch and be amazed as your already backwards 24 stack gets wiped by Norway's 2 stack sneezing in their direction.
Also, that first event is what makes Divine a really bad idea group unless you can stack it. No, the 5% free discipline event doesn't make up for it.
@@carltonleboss Legitimately I would say no
If you do this in mp you don't have to worry about events pausing the game - so it is actually playable
That is if the server doesn't mind the election spam
5:50
That’s called a parliament.
The way I'd imagine this working is that each person votes for a particular canditate, and their vote is considered to be the same each day after that until they actively change it.
I tried it with x10 mod and since the modifier there is -1.5 years you can stack it so the term is negative and reelection gives you republican tradition, another funny interaction for this gem of a mod.
Nice vid as always
Thanks!
I kinda like Paradox not capping modifiers. If modders want to make the game explode that's on them. Leaving modifiers uncapped forces Paradox to think more carefully about modifiers added - you need to be deliberate with adding re-lection time because if you aren't then you wind up with this.
While true, they tend to end up capping and adding anyway, as its pretty easy 'content' to sell in a DLC: look cool mission gives number buff!
ah yes
democracy at its finest
Peak democracy indeed!
To be fair this would be very democratic assuming elections are relatively free and fair

Elect harder lads.
Considering that you get 50 monarch points every day, you can absolutely build Dubai in the middle of the desert.
Hi Lemon Cake
Hello!
Now I'm curious what would happen if the election term became negative.
I think it would basically become an elective monarchy (no elections until the ruler dies but the ruler rules for life, it just so happens they are not nearly skilled enough to be worth it). That or time travel is involved to rig the elections, though from the game mechanics it would remain the same (however. In theory, you could be able to gain Republican tradition each time the person is re-elected) I don't think anything else could change
Nothing fun to be honest, it still daily elections, tested with a mod I made.
@@LemonCake101 Thanks for testing it out!
Clearly democracy is the best form of government we have yet to come up with
Indeed, it prints monarch points too!
I love democracy
Just don't force pause on events and it will automatically pick the right option.
If you don't pause it enters the next day without triggering another election
Hey, can you go spectator mode? Genuinely curious how the AI deals with your new empire.
Maybe?
The Roman Republic should have a term duration of 1, and you should not be able to re-elect. That’s how the real Republic worked. (Technically consuls could be re-elected but you had to wait ten years between terms, but implementing that would probably be annoying.)
"I love democracy"
You could just disable that popup and it would automatically chose to keep the guy after 3 months, right? So that massive boost in mana points would just happen in the background. It might lag the game if it always has 90 background popups though.
nope, because if you don't click the poppup the next election doesn't happen.
@@LemonCake101 ah, that's a shame
@lemoncake101 i demand cake with my democracy, and to eat it too
This looks like it would be fun for a short time, but I don't have the patience to reform the Roman Republic. Is there a way to achieve the same thing with mods or console commands? I tried adding a modifier to Venice to drop election intervals by 4 years, but I guess I did it wrong.
Mods are the way here really, and I mean any mod that can give you access to another -2 overall years of re-election somewhere would work.
@@LemonCake101My real question is where should I put that modifier? I know you're not an expert in modding, but I really have no idea what might work and what wouldn't. I don't even know what term to use in the files in order to change that number.
@@frederickwood1384 probably best to go to custom ideas and buff the custom -1 yearly election one to -2: but up to you, modding is the start of a whole other can of worms
