Yes, Goku has his demo, but Gotenks never uses SSj2, he just bypasses it, but it is shown to be slightly longer like Beast Gohan. Trunks in Super is a joke, his SSj2 looks like Grade 1 form and even his grade 3 form is shown to be spikier, and his SSj Rage form is just another SSj2 form that actually looks like SSj2. @@loregasmictrunks has an official super Saiyan 2 design in the dbs manga, where his front bangs spike fully upward along with the rest of his hair. It’s also where db kakarot got the design for the super saiyan 2 hair for trunks
Simple solution, give SSJ2 pupils like in SSJ3. They can also have the hair be more separate & spikey. If a character has multiple bangs have then reduced to 1 & if a character has one give them a few more. Along w/ the increased amount of lightning this should help distinguish the form from SSJ.
Just subscribed based on this short clip. I love nerding out on DBZ and Pokémon Johto. To answer the question, kid Gohan ss2 is my fav. That version truly is iconic. You think of images like, Frieza chopped in half, Majoj Vegeta with a demented smile. Likewise, people use the still of Gohan snapping in anger, before going ss2 as wallpaper and pfp. That is the definition of iconic. I am bias because he’s my favorite character. He looked really cool in the Kame uni too, against Bojack. Which is my fav movie. Viva la son Gohan.
I always told myself while fighting they were expending energy and would “slip” back into SS1 and only when they noticed there power had dropped off and started gathering ki again would they go back. And that’s why they would occasionally stop to bump their power back up.
Weird taste for me its the worst transformation they have released close to orange piccolo before shenrons gift bcs his that darker orange and bigger size makes him cooler
hmm i wonder why but i always got excited when ssj2 showed up on screen and goku or vegeta where the ones doing it in z or super it didn't matter to me ssj2 has this touch that other transformations don't have i really like ssj2
A big reason for this is that originally SS2 *wasn't* a new form; it was just the full release of Gohan's SS power. Which, I suppose, is why his 9yo SS hair is only partially spikey. It didn't get labeled as SS2 until Goku showed off the forms to Buu in the Buu saga. Before that it was always just referred to as stuff like Gohan's full power. Hard to find old scans of JP Shonen Jump from that time but it's super interesting to see when you do.
Referred to as “Super Saiyan Grade 5.” I think conceptually it was seen as the proper evolution of going beyond the wall of the Super Saiyan form rather than the literal next stage. Like it was seen as the same plane as Ascended & Ultra Super Saiyan, but unlike those two, SS grade 5 proportionately boosted the users speed and multiplied their strength.
They literally said he properly ascended beyond Super Saiyan, which is what all the saiyans were trying to do in the arc. So no it was never intended to be exclusive to Gohan.
I think the hair going straight out is cool, it shows how it went down a different path of Saiyan, as the next stage would usually be Super Saiyan 3, with the hair down the back, but Beast has the hair straight up, showing it’s far more refined in the prodigal mix between Saiyan and human genetics
You know what!? I wholeheartedly agree. The new power level needs a visual adjustment because that KND reference is exactly what I thought about when I first saw it theaters.
I think Gohans forms are more expressive due to his innate ability. It's a reach but it could also just be toriyamas memory, but gohan has had the most expressive transformations in all of DragonBall, from youth to adulthood, I can see it being the same for his transformations
The only explanation is that there was no ssj2. When gohan fought cell he unlocked his "potential" or inner power that was teased throughout the series. If you go look up the show nowhere did the show ever coined ssj2 until goku went ssj3 in the buu arc. Literally. It was the "asecended" super saiyan or the power above the ssj. This would explain why toriyama himself get the forms confused. He has called ssj3 the ssj2 because when gohan fought cell it was simply gohan unlocking his power. His editors literally had to add the electricity because ssj and ssj2 were too close visually.
This is genuinely so true, this was a messup on everyone's part, if they just sat down and thought this through a little bit, it would be so much cooler.
I always thought the same thing it was so hard to tell the difference sometimes also the part at the end about KND that killed me that's the best way to describe his hair in that form lol
The issue is that all the characters have spiked hair in base now, so turning super saiyan 2 doesn’t change anything. The characters needed more unique hair styles, like teen gohan, which can better showcase the difference in power. Here’s a hot take, but I actually really like gohans hair in RoF, it’s just his green jumpsuit that’s trash
I love Dragon Ball Z hair, specifically spiky hair, it has always been my favourite aspect of the series since I was a little boy. You should do more videos on this topic.
Damn they need to animate Moro and Granolah arc DBS season 2 already! 😮Incorporating SSJ4 Gogeta becoming canon and more Broly!! (He’s my favorite character)! 🤯 Also a really great idea (IMO) would be to bring Bardock back alive somehow and have him as a side character helping occasionally! It would entertain millions of fans around the world, it’s the best anime (the entire series) in the world, make them millions of dollars, and some of the best work they have ever done! 😡😤
Teen gohan ssj2 when he whoops on cell was my favorite gohan form. When he screamed after cell crushed 16s head n he ascended literally made me tear up how powerful n emotion filled it felt
I think ssj1 should be flame-like cause it makes ssj1 and ssj2 look distinct from one another cause then ssj2 could look more detailed so if vegeta for example uses it, ssj1 will look like a burning flame and ssj2 will look like intense spikes on their heads so bassically it i'll look different, also youth gohan or pre teen(he is NOT a teen) looks like he has french fries on his head when going ssj2😂 just wanted to point it out
I like what they did in superhero with ultimate Gohan. In his base form, his hairstyle is completely different and new. it’s spikes up and super Saiyan ultimate is the same as super Saiyan but black. Making the differences more noticeable
I actually used to have an old anime magazine, that detailed the exact changes for each saiyan form. SS1 was gold spiky hair, and blue eyes. SS2 was lightning, longer gold spiky hair, and green-ish eyes. SS3 was tail, lightning, loss of eyebrows, green eyes, and gold spiky hair down to rear.
Not only does it only look good on kid Gohan it only looks good because they broke the rules of Super Saiyan 1 for him. If kid Gohan had the same Super Saiyan hair everyone else in this series has it wouldn't look good.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this. I could never tell the difference between ssj1 and ssj2 without the lightning, and I still wasn't confident when there was
although I have several problems with Super about the animation, one thing that I can't complain is that they haven't forgot to add the blue sparks when a character was in SS2. The hair could be almost or the same, but it has blue sparks. Unlike Z, that didn't put the spark in various scenes.
Which Gohan is y’all’s favorite?

This is why it helps to get feedback when you're writing/drawing a story before publication.
The hair of Beast Gohan is inspired by Ssj10 from Dragon Ball AF. Funny fact.
Honestly gohan should've kept his hair from the cell games
As if youd keep that haircut
@@fusiontoa18 I mean it worked and looked good and I've seen some decent fanart of him with that hair as an adult with him maintaining it sooooo besides his current hair could work as his SS1 hair while the SS2 hair can still his his cell games SS2 hair resembling the beast hair with a fewer changes
@@SuperBlueGamer9000 there was a a design for adult gohan in the buu saga to have a similar fit to future trunks with his cell saga hair and a bit taller, this should have been the design as we would be able to tell easily when he’s in ssj2 or ultimate.
Gohan beast look so stupid I laughed out loud in the theater
Needs to hit the barber up loll
As a kid playing Shin Budokai 2 I didnt even notice the hair and thought the only difference was that SSJ2 had thunder all over it whereas SSJ didnt.
Honeatly I think Caulifla's deserves more credit since it's the only one besides Gohan to actually have a worthwhile visual difference
Thank you for this and I agree with all of it. Especially how they fumbled beast Gohan. Its ridiculously high
Well done. Someone finally put this into words decades later. Toriyama fully forgot about SSj2 by BoG like Launch, but it's possible he forgot about SSj2 far earlier.
Who knows why they gave Trunks Blue Hair right after SSjGSSj came out.
@@Goblin_Hands Exactly, even DBZ: Kakarot had an actual SSJ2 form for Trunks.
@@loregasmictrunks has an official super Saiyan 2 design in the dbs manga, where his front bangs spike fully upward along with the rest of his hair. It’s also where db kakarot got the design for the super saiyan 2 hair for trunks
His hair goes straight up to represent his iconic form being super saiyan 2, and it's the same with goku
I couldn't agree more, I don't feel alone anymore 🎉
Agreeeed. Hair is a massive identifier to the true fan and needs to be distinctive when applied to all transformations.
@@BeingOfEvil0
That could also work.
Teen Gohans death stare needs to come back
To be fair, Gohan's NORMAL haircut as an adult looks like SSJ2 with blk hair, which is why there's really no difference when he actually goes SSJ2.
Which why it sucks he should had kept his ss1 teen haircut
@@christian6455 maybe, but I think he would look odd with his teen Gohan hair as an adult lol
Yoooo I'm subbed to you. I loved the Bruce Faulconer edits on BOG
@@boltskyline2957 hey thanks so much bro. More vids are on the way soon 😏
Somebody finally said it about beast gohan unnecessarily long hair
Fuk in hate that ahh pull form
"Like a Kids Next Door parody" man thank you for resparking that gem in my memory😂
Future Gohan's SSJ hair was straight up unspoken rizz with that iron grit
God that shot of him in that "Broly second coming" clip looks so badass
Beast is hands down my favorite transformation. The look as well as the drip is crazy. And ive grew up with dbz so im not trynna be biasd
Weird taste for me its the worst transformation they have released close to orange piccolo before shenrons gift bcs his that darker orange and bigger size makes him cooler
hmm i wonder why but i always got excited when ssj2 showed up on screen and goku or vegeta where the ones doing it in z or super it didn't matter to me ssj2 has this touch that other transformations don't have
i really like ssj2
Even in super?
I mean you're wrong regardless
I think the hair going straight out is cool, it shows how it went down a different path of Saiyan, as the next stage would usually be Super Saiyan 3, with the hair down the back, but Beast has the hair straight up, showing it’s far more refined in the prodigal mix between Saiyan and human genetics
beast gohan hair basically ss3 hair if it stood up 😂
I want beast to gohan hair to look like a mix of his old ssj2 hair and brolys full power hair
Gohan has always been one of my favorite characters and it does only look noticable on kid cell saga Gohan
Sameee & right? It’s weird how close they all look these days
I agreed with the end part so much. Thank you for understanding.
I’ve heard multiple times that Toriyama actually said he forgot SS2 was a form at some point
It's an easy form to forget.
Thank you! That new super Saiyan form looks so freaking dumb
SSJ2 Teen Gohan is that freaking special. Made the form look amazing.
BRO I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO REMEMBERED THAT EPISODE OF KND. I WAS SO CONFUSED AND HYPED WHEN I SAW THAT AS A KID
It’s the excess lightning striking all around the golden aura that gives it away the most. My favorite of all the transformations in the series.
I love Dragon Ball Z hair, specifically spiky hair, it has always been my favourite aspect of the series since I was a little boy. You should do more videos on this topic.
Thank you for saying that about beast gohan. I think it would be awesome as a mane similar to super saiyan 4.
omg the kids next door parody what a banger the nostalgia is real
"Is... Is there any difference? I literally cannot tell."
"Theres little zappy-zaps." *FZZT* "See?"
The hair is goofy on beast gohan but i still love it, takes me back to those fan creations of super saiyan forms before battle of gods
Teen Gohan is always going to be my OG fav character
Ssj1 gohan that made cloud strife design.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this. I could never tell the difference between ssj1 and ssj2 without the lightning, and I still wasn't confident when there was
With trunks ssj 1 and 2 hair it would’ve been better if they did what they did in kakarot were ssj2 trunks had different hair to ssj1
Teen Gohan with the green saiyaman outfit has to be one of the rawest ssj2 designs to date, bro looked so bad ass
I will now refer to “Beast Gohan,” as, “Numbuh Four-go!” 😂😂😂😂
although I have several problems with Super about the animation, one thing that I can't complain is that they haven't forgot to add the blue sparks when a character was in SS2. The hair could be almost or the same, but it has blue sparks. Unlike Z, that didn't put the spark in various scenes.
I giggled a bit when SS Beast was shown because it gave me the C:KND vibes and the front bang looked like that dude from Tatsunoko
Ok so basically to be able to recognize ssj2 on any sayian is, the hair is more detailed, the budget increases, they squint more, more lightning
Is it just me or is beast Gohan look like super saiyan 2 ultra instinct
Canon Beast Gohan looks like AF SSJidfk Goku, you know which one.
