  • A video documenting a day out to take iconic shots of the Shinkansen with Mt. Fuji. Inspired by Christopher P. Hood's accurate guide (www.hood-online...) to the spots for taking the iconic photographs of the Shinkansen passing by with Mt. Fuji in the background, this video is almost a testimony of following Christopher Hood's guide on a very clear early December day.
Since October 1, 1964, the Shinkansen has been an icon of Japan's technological prowess. Mt. Fuji, on the other hand, has been deeply associated with Japan's culture over the centuries. The photograph of the Tokaido Shinkansen with Mt. Fuji in the background has been a subject over the last several decades, and is indeed an exemplary representation of Japan.
The video was shot using an Olympus OM-D E-M5 with an Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO lens and an external stereo microphone. The photographs, on that day, were shot using a Canon EOS 7D Mark II with either a Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens or a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 L IS USM lens. The 10fps burst speed of the 7D Mark II is invaluable to capture the right moments.
