Born in Roanoke, Grandparents lived in Lynchburg since the dawn of time. Came back to LYH for college and ate there almost every day for 4 years of my life. Love both locations and hope that it get more attention in the future. Thanks for reminding me of home!
No lie, I used to eat here 2-3 a week when I went to college there. I visited Lynchburg about 1 or 2 times a year after that for another 10 yrs. A couple of years ago I made a 14hr round trip to get a gallon of chili to bring back home. I love this place and it is easily my favorite restaurant in the country. I want my last meal on this planet to be some T-room food so I can die with a smile on my face.
I need to go back and try some of their other stuff. I’m more familiar with their “sister” restaurant in Roanoke. We would get the Cheesy Westerns. I found a copycat chili recipe online but lost it somehow and can’t find it anymore. I was going to see how close I could come to it. I also found the supplier online that packages the red dogs they use.

Awesome - thanks for sharing! I was down in Blacksburg this past weekend. I was going to stop in at the Texas Tavern but ran out of time.
