I found your channel while researching this pack. You have good content. I was thinking about using the F53 Tomahawk as an EDC/Get Home bag. I'm not sure now, but I'll watch the next two vids on it from you and make up my mind. I have the Battleship and love the pack, but it is huge and 9+ pounds. It just won't do EDC or Get Home easily. Take Care and Stay Safe.

I’m just busy now but I will get a review soon I hope. So far, it’s doing okay but there is a buyer beware attached to it. Stay tuned.

I want to like it because I like the halftrack inspite of its severe volume limitation. I was hoping that the tomahawk was the answer. But....when in doubt, don't.

Yeah, the Tomahawk gives me mixed emotions too.

Check out Vanquest Markhor 45 backpack? It may be more suitable and versatile for your needs.

I have. It’s very nice looking. My only concern is it’s only 45 liters.

Gosh, I thought this pack is cool but now? Definately no go. That bottom flap thing is real goofy. I would stick to my Halftrack.
BTW I recently purchased J51 Warhammer. Very impressed with its versatile design, quality and the new material they used.

TBH I think Glen and his team got me. The Tomahawk has it's obvious problems but there is nothing that meets my needs at the pack's price point so I'm going to try and make it work. Now the J51 is an interesting, quirky pack. If I had a Little Brother than the J51 would make a great addition but without it, the J51 seems like the design might be a little too niche for my needs. Have you used it on any adventures yet?

@@rjhisle1973 Well, Eberlestock packs are great for heavy loading with comfort. I hope you'll get satisfied with your gear investment.
Alright, let me talk about J51 Warhammer. My previous opinion on this pack before I actually get it in my hands was similar with yours. But after I got it, totally changed. At first I was pretty much impressed with its new material they used. Ripstop nylon seems tough enough though they used good old cordura nylon on the weary points. The pack frame is very light. I did a couple of test rucking with two 8 kg or 18 lbs dumbbells. It felt snug on my bag. No problem. Last weekend, I did an overnighter with this pack. The whole weight was about 23 kg or 50 lbs including the pack weight. It did hold up good enough.
I should mention that I did purchase some accessories for customizing this pack system. With a duffel bag in the core of the pack with 4 compression straps all around, it feels solid. No sway. Of course you will lose quick access ability with all these straps but the tubular pockets on the sides cover that. Love those zippers on the side pouches so I could access items on the bottom like water canteens. The shoulder straps are thin but wider than the ones on my Halftrack.
My only criticism on this pack is that when it works for full capacity, it is wide like MOLLE2 large rucksack with sustainment pouches on the sides.
45° frame was a little awkward but I found a way out to make the pack sit up when it's on the floor.
I would recommend this pack system for guys like you who use mil spec gears with versitility. It has potentially so many options for your needs.
I am not biased but Eberlestock packs are gears worth to invest.

@@militarygearjunkie2522 the skycrane 2 is similar but not as wide.

@@dib0018 Skycrane looks sweet but I went for the external frame which is hard aluminium tublar frame. Very sturdy but lightweight. Warhammer has zippers on the shelf so I can zip one of their duffle bags. Skycrane has no zippers on the shelf. I thought Warhammer would work more versitile.

@@militarygearjunkie2522 I have it too. The newer version. Have been playing with but kind of on the fence with it too. Would have like for the bottom horizontal strap to be lower to keep the wings in at the bottom. Halftrack still my favorite minus the capacity limitations and I wish it had compression straps on the main body. Hard to please I suppose.
