A Super RARE 1960 Kay Upbeat Guitar with the really cool Barney Kessell Pickups that sound great, full Kelvinator Headstock and all original!! This Kay 17 inch wide body Thinline guitar is in great shape as is the original Softshell case...all original parts...Its unbelievable!! ... Great frets still after these years!
This Model K8990S Upbeat was only made in 1959 and 1960. In 1959 they had a White Kelvinator Headstock. In 1960 they were in Black like this one.
Where was the name Kelvinator Headstock from? It got its name from the close looking Logo’s on Kelvinator Refrigerators… LOL… You asked!
This guitar was in really dirty shape when I got it but all the parts were there...We cleaned it up.. A lot …. and found this fantastic shape guitar under the grime....check out the original Sunburst finish ...just some minor dings and scratches..this guitar is in great shape....I had Jeff the Tech go over this one completely...He had to remove the neck and give it a much needed Neck Reset… The neck action is now as good as it gets...it has easy playing low low action...It is a pleasure to play...The neck is super fast and comfortable.... Check out that Pickguard..you never find these still intact.. Couple that with the cool Vintage Original case and you have quite the guitar outfit here.....

Nut is 1 ¾ inches with a 25 ¾ inch scale neck!
Barney Kessell Single Coil Pickups…
The Barney Kessell pickups sounds great. Blues Guys love them. Dark and Greasy!! The Single Line Kluson Tuners are still here and operating as they should. Original Tailpiece and bridge..Whoa..what a time capsule!
Now this guitar is uber cool but old and vintage so sold as-is no returns .. However, I have been hand picking my customers guitars for close to 20 years now and they all love the instruments I found them ..this cool Kay will certainly not be an exception!
