Callie is adorable with that comment! Your family is beautiful and I love seeing you all learn! I’ve been watching since right before you adopted Callie and the growth and path you guys have taken is nothing short of amazing. Bless you all!
My granny always washed the udder of her cows with warm water before milking. It makes the udder softer and easier to milk. She washed the udder using only her hands,no cloth or sponge. My auntie always let the calf drink first and then milk the cow. She produces way to much milk than a calf can drink and for a first time mommy it is important to milk the extra milk out.
6 years ago you all living on a farm would have been the last thing I ever would have thought of!!! You guys have transformed into the best farmer!!! Both gardening and Animals!!! You All have transformed!!! Luv you guys very very much!!! God Bless!!!
Interesting I've been rewatching videos from 6yrs ago! In one video they took baby Kinsley to a petting zoo/farm and Phil asked Alex if that would be her dream job/business and she said yes 😊 however she answered that with the clarification that she would hire someone to take care of the animals lol 😆 and I just laughed to myself saying oh Alex if you only knew 😉
I grew up on a dairy farm and we made buttermilk cream for our cows utters to ease the chapping and soreness. Just make a little butter out of her milk, no salt, and rub on her teats a couple times a day.
Hope all goes well with Mom and baby hard when it's your first it's like you worry about him eating enough and her getting mastitis worry worry worry about them she's such a gentle cow you did a awesome job working with her ❤ she loves being brushed. Beautiful seeing new life on your farm.
1. Apply coconut oil on the udder and spray the udder well with water. 2. Grind the hibicus leaf with curd and apply it on the udder. 3. It is also recommended to apply cold curd on the udder. 4. A mixture of aloe vera, turmeric and lime is applied in the form of a paste on the udder to cure the disease. The only thing we need to take care of before getting sick is the health care of the cows. Keep the cow and cowshed clean.
ButterCup needs some Bag Balm. You can get it at the farm store. It is safe for her to use and will help with the tender teats. Especially when he really gets to nursing on her and they crack and bleed. Very good for your hands too! She will be okay eventually about the milking, she just needs to get used too it. It is new to it just like you. Motherhood is new too.
You are a great farmers wife you pick up things so easy been a blessing how you just cope I know inside mayn’t be but you are a gift love watching you all love Kathy from Australia 🇦🇺 🇦🇺
If she keeps stepping on you it might be a good idea to restrain her back legs so you can milk her out at least once. It sounds terrible but mastitis is way worse. So happy for you guys!
Oh my goodness, that domino game is a blast! We will sit and play it for hours! It takes a few times to figure out how to play but once you do, it’s so fun! 🤗
🐄🐮 Alex, I love seeing how sweet buttercup is. Seeing buttercup makes me think back to my grandparents farm, all the cows, and pigs they had. I can't forgive the horses. I can remember being so scared of cows, until my Papa, let me bottle feed a baby cow from then on I have loved them. Cows are so sweet and loving. It's funny I can remember saying a cow is just a big dog that could give you so much love. lol Alex, How is the barn coming along? Are you doing it like you said when you did the barn tour; or will that happen later down the road? Do you think you guys will get another cow or two? Something else...Do you see on your homestead having miniature horses? Thank you for letting me be a part of your family, also for being so sweet, kind, and caring.. Also, thank you for taking time out of your busy day an answering some of my questions. 💛🤠
I don't think my parents travel anywhere these days without a deck of cards & a set of train dominos. It sounds like you got stuck with doubles? If I remember correctly: When someone plays a double (we lay them widthwise on end of train) they can lay a second tile to "close" the double on the same turn - for example if Phillip laid the double 3 tile, he can also lay the 3/8 tile to close the double to end his turn. If he doesn't have another 3 in his pile to close the double he can draw for one. If still no three to play - he adds his plastic train marker (making his train open for everyone to use) You then continue around the circle each player checking their pile / drawing a tile until someone can close Phillip's double. Then regular tile laying can resume.
Just keep at it, she's never had to sit there and let someone touch her and milk her this is all new to her. As long as you keep at it sooner or later she will realize this is a routine and get use to it all.. She's being very sweet though... Just be careful of them legs until she's use to it.
Loved the intro with the music! It was a little bit of peace 🥰 I’m so glad to see that things are progressing well. Callie’s got the line of the day-we won’t do it again, until tomorrow 😂😂😂 My friends and I play Mexican train dominoes every Sunday after Mass. It’s a lot of fun 🎉 You can only play on yourself or Jose train unless someone else has their train up. You’d be surprised all the spider looking things we get with 8 people playing!!
Do you guys still do podcasts? You said your Mum is great at make-believe… I would LOVE a podcast about what you’ve learned about playing with kids. I’ve got a toddler and I’d love to maximise the fun we can have together
Buttercup is such a good Mom. Is there something like something numbing you can put on here teets? Like lidocaine or aloe something with a big bandage so baby tries the other teets? I really want to brush her too, shes so cute and sweet.
Not criticism Alex! You need to watch a video on how to milk a cow! One teat at A time is not very productive...for you or her! It is painful for her not doing it the right way! Please Google this asap! 😉❤❤❤
Maybe it’s not shown but it just doesn’t seem sanitary. Even dairy farms have a strict sanitary regimen on the udders/teats before a cow is milked. And unpasteurized raw milk and products made with unpasteurized milk can harbor listeria and other dangerous bacteria which can cause severe food poisoning and cause miscarriages in pregnant women. Given Cassidy’s health and the infertility issues why risk it. Just my opinion. You can buy a hobby farm sized pasteurizer for 2 gallons at a time. And a milker. I sense bad food poisoning is gonna happen sooner than later. Poo flying everywhere when cow is kicking. I’m like ew
I saw Buttercup licking Phil and it reminded me that growing up my Dad always had salt licks out for cows. Do you have one? Do you need one? I have no idea but thought I would mention it. Love watching your videos! Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Hi guys, the baby calf should be nursing. How is baby going to nurse if the cow's teats are sore? Baby needs some help or am I wrong. The baby is lying down way too much. Just helping. Good luck and God bless y'all!
The calf is only sucking off the two front I almost bet. and just like a woman when our milk comes in it's very sore and the milk has to come out. once they get ButterCup into a routine and get her use to everything it will all start flowing right, and she will start feeling better. but if they don't get that milk out she will get mastitis and that's bad for her.
Nothing wrong with drinking fresh milk, how hell are you going drink milk if you don't milk the cow. Milk with cream is so much healthier them store bought. She doing nothing wrong and it's obvious you never had a farm

My aunt usually ties the cows back legs loosely so it won't kick you.
What are you guys for her teats to help them heal ? We used to use bag balm. Tami
That is the luckiest cow ever!
Beautiful cows!! 😍

@Janet McDonald they're fine. They've got this.
What a sweet vlog ❤️
Use Utter Butter on your cow for milking it helps with soreness.👍😊
My husband's family is SERIOUS about dominions!! Hope you found a good tutorial!
You spoke of giving away Wesley the baby bull but you are so loving him and growing attached. I worry all of your hearts will be broken! 😢
That's a part of farming.
You need a milk pail. That bowl with a rounded profile is way too tippy.
Great Job 👍 😁
GBY ALL 🙏❤️💙💖💖💖🐕❤️💙❤️💙🤗✝️
Love your relationship with buttercup. And what game were you playing? ❤
I heard about Utter butter also, anything would help for her soreness
Does Buttercup have a salt/mineral lick?
Wesley is the cutest.
Y'all are so beautiful ❤️🙏 love you guys.
Use your dominos and learn chicken foot it’s so fun for the whole fam

Would putting milk on them help them not be so tender? I know nothing just curious.

You really come to that conclusion seeing about TEN minutes of the whole day or two??? I trust Phil and Alex, they know what they are doing.
@Lorraine Kleingunther you don't know what you're talking about.
Get Alex to make yo 2 milking stools...one for under cow...to put bowl on...amd one fir you to sit down xx
💜🐄
Love your blog so much :)
If you tie her legs together she will not kick at you. She will get used to it and learn that it is not allowed to kick.
👍
💞🙏💕🙌💗
Called udder. How are you going to handle the bull calf? Dairy bulls are dangerous and expensive to raise if they don’t have value on a farm.
Xx
If a cow is mad, maybe leave her alone? She might lash out… very dangerous
They have to get her use to being milked or she will never let them..
@Lori79 is she your cow? Maybe not comment about something you know nothing about.
Maybe get a milking stool!
teets Philip teets lol
😂
@kim Afenir he can call them whatever he wants. Normalize not telling others how to talk.
What size are they suppose to be..omg
You need to stop asking for help from people who aren't professionals. Talk to a vet. Not everyone knows everything.
@Linda Remillard who are you to determine whether or not the people they do talk to are professionals or not?? Stop barking orders at them!
Is this your professional advice? 🤪🤣
What did callie say that was so funny. I couldnt hear what she said because of mr phil laughing so loud
Sounded like she said (in response to Buttercup not being happy after milking) "We won't do that again... Not until tomorrow"
