Thanks Nick!! It's been a few weeks for me too.....I've been in the Keys this week enjoying seafood cause the weather has been about as bad as it gets down here.....Leaving tomorrow to try the short grouper season next week
Thanks Rob!! My trips are either Feast of Famine but they are all interesting to me because I'm always making observations that might get me to thinkin' on a future trip to the Refuge......Sea Ya!!
You earned your money that day for sure. That looked like work! Quality fish no matter where ya went. What a day. Even lucked out n caught a whisker trout
Thanks Marc!! The hardest part of the back country is trying to anticipate....Just when you think you have it all figured out the unexpected slaps you in the face.....LOL.....I'm lucky I haven't lost any teeth.....LOL!! Some days I have no clue where the fish are and the next I think they are following me around.....This area is always a puzzle and it's what has me constantly thinking!!
Thanks JJ!! I'm down in the Keys with all of this terrible weather.....When eating good seafood is the best I can do it's time to head home for the opening of Grouper season.....LOL!!
Wes, I love your videos in general, but really love the "nail biters" like this one. Numerous times I've found myself yelling at the screen watching these videos. You are rare among us as you fish the Chaz like me, but without a trolling motor. No matter what fish you've got on, you are basically the victim of whatever drift that's going on. And as you know, in those back Creeks when the tidal current is hauling buttocks like that, the drift can be crazy chaotic. Thanks for another great nail biter video!!!
LSJ...Thanks!! When it comes to the skinny water I'm all about weight and stealth......Most of the time I couldn't run an electric motor.....All I can feel and hear is bump and prop gurgle.....People don't realize that fish are sensitive to noise and movement.....Especially Redfish!! When I fail to ignore the inside tides the bump and run because of the current is a PITA not to mention I have to constantly have to move from the bow or stern and vis-versa plus I haven't a clue how any times I've needed a pole saw or had to wade the Bush League to get one of these critters to the boat.....I know it's all interesting and funny when I think about this area.....Enjoyed the comment.....Have a great weekend!!
@@WesLovelace You are exactly right. I did a hitchhiker's guide video on Inshore fishing with the GPS spot lock trolling motor. It's 100% focused on stealth. Every time I make a mistake that leads to cavitation or the prop touching bottom, I know that I've spooked every fish for 100 yd. You absolutely have to be extraordinarily careful.
Thanks Lou!! With over 50 square miles of coastal creeks and shallow islands to choose from I've got a a lot of places to visit on each trip.....Have a great weekend!!
Thanks Dug!! I'm really moving a lot because of all the rain......I'm about to leave the Keys tomorrow because of the weather.....The exact same thing as last year!!
Thanks John!! This was one of those days where the fish were following me around and just wouldn't leave me alone.....LOL.....I wish all my trips were this interesting!!
The edge Reds aren't subjected to the Tannic Dark Water thus the reel light coloration.....I've been trying to fish more Spring fed creeks especially since all the rain has pushed all the tannic stain into the creeks!!
Some more locals trying to keep me entertained......I'm down here in KCB and enjoying the great seafood.....This nasty weather is just like last year and the trolling hasn't produced much.....Hauled the boat yesterday and headed home in the morning!!😎
Thanks EA!! I'm concentrating on those back country creeks that have active Springs and that are well off the beaten path.....I've been trying the outside springs but I'm not getting the same results even thought there is a temperature differential.....The Bush League has been my go to here lately.....Sea Ya!!
Thanks Patrick!! The outside segments were filmed at a high tide of about a 3.2 and the inside footage was during the still incoming tide near the coastline.....All in the Refuge. There is about a 2 hour turnaround in the incoming and outgoing tides.....I can fish the ebb tide outside and go inside to fish the still incoming .....When the inside water stops the outgoing is starting to move out where I originally started my day!!😎
@@patrickhoins8333 If you use the big tides 2.7+ and you generally follow the same safe route to gain access up there you should be OK......There is a lot of reel estate to play in and there isn't a lot of competition for those who move around to try new spots......Sea Ya!!😎
Me and the big boat are in KCB in Marathon for the last week.....Fishing and the weather are terrible but the seafood is great so I'm heading back to the Shack tomorrow!!😎
Thanks for the report, Wes.
Thanks Mark!! The Refuge is a fascinating area and as long as I can continue to get up there I'll keep putting out content.....Sea Ya!!
Awesome. Have not been there in months. Thanks for sharing.

DMP....Thanks!! Some days the critters are waiting for me to show up....Others it's a day of frustration.....LOL!!
Nice Slam! Those red fish weren't so red. Even got another catfish and a trout that got lost apparently.

Thanks J!! All it takes is to run all over the place to find the bite....LOL!!
Nice catches Wes
Thanks MH!! I'm really running around to find this many quality fish!!
You caught some nice fish.
Thanks Wayn!! Managed to catch fish at the right places.....Especially in the back country dark stained creeks!!

Fish on my favorite 2 words!
Thanks Nathan!! A screaming drag and any critter with fins always gets the same results.....LOL!!
Holy moly where did that trout come from? I was not expecting that 🤣 I'm suprised there were fish in the creeks I haven't found many in north chaz
