Recording of Gabriel Royal singing "Remember Us" at the 7th Ave G/F station in Park Slope, Brooklyn, on April 7th, 2013. For this shoot, I tried something different using a slider on a tripod and my friend Ken Kochey with a handheld.
Lyrics:
my sister told me
be careful when falling in love
but just like a child
I went and bit off a little too much
no I don't remember us falling in love
but I'm sure that it happened
no I don't remember us falling in love
this sort of thing is old fashioned
I know this, I know
I don't know
my mother told me
be careful don't think with your heart
but just like a fool
I followed all of the lights to the sparks
it goes over and over again
'til we find our way back
did you really have to even ask
no I don't remember us falling in love
but I'm sure that it happened
no I don't remember us falling in love
this sort of thing is old fashioned
I know this, I know
I don't know
no I don't know
this I know
do, do, do...
bum bom, bum bom...
no I don't remember us falling in love
but I'm sure that it happened
no I don't remember us falling in love
this sort of thing is old fashioned
I know this, I know
I don't know
(BOOM!)
I saw Gabriel performing yesterday. It was even better than this vid.I was knocked out by the quality of the songs, his voice and the skill with which he accompanies himself on his instrument. He sounds very Beatle influenced and writes beautifully constructed pop songs.Put simply, this guy is writing hits. And he's an outstanding vocalist, fully in control of pitch and dynamics. He's a complete package ready to go.
Hey music biz,I've said this before. If you want to find the most original, compelling musicians in NYC you have to go UNDERGROUND.There's $$$$$$ to be made signing artists like Gabriel Royal. He blows away that next run o' the mill singer-songwriter you're thinking about signing.
The "music business," such as it is, would only destroy him.
It's so fucked up listening to this guy and wondering in the same time "why does he isn't already famous ?"
Maybe UA-cam will make him...
All we can do for him is...like him.
This song seriously needs more praise. This is genuinely one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a long, long time.
🙌🏾
Danced to this with my husband for our first dance at our wedding!! ❤ Almost 7 yrs ago!
During my visit to New York, was waiting for the G train and this guy is playing the whole time and I was so amazed of how awesome he was!
+Shelly Kono I hope you gave him a nice and well deserved tip!
It's been years since I first heard this song on the weather and I keep coming back. Life is hard and this song is the most soothing, healing sanctuary.
Gabe... long time no see my man. You still got it. Moving song.
I am in the middle of the English countryside. Such beautiful music. God I miss cities,
God bless Night Vale weather. Or, I guess I should say Glow Cloud bless...@_@ ALL HAIL!
ALL HAIL
GROVEL BEFORE THE GLOW CLOUD!
ALL HAIL!!!!!!
ORGANIC INSECTS OF DECAYING FLESH AND BRITTLE, WEAK BONES!! KNEEL TO YOUR GOD WITH HANDS UPTURNED AND BEGGING.
ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY GLOW CLOUD
12 people remeber and are sure that it didnt happen
100%
Does anyone know the chords for this song?
You know, if the weather in Night Vale actually corresponded to different weather patterns, I would picture this song as a quiet, wistful rain, the kind that makes characters in movies gaze out the window in fond memory. The plucked notes bring to mind large raindrops falling into puddles.
It's a beautiful song.
Imagigirl that's beautiful imagery
Beautiful rain...
i was about to say, this is in night vale?!
omgoodness, I've seen this man playing at 2nd avenue so many times! There have been numerous times lol I have deliberately missed my train just to finish listening to him play : ), he's great!
ME TOO!!!!!
So, just checking, did this song happen to reduce anyone else to a trembling puddle of tears?
Yup.
Literal or figurative?
no cause im not mentally unstable
I'm so very glad that relistening to Condos brought me back to this wonderful piece of music. Truly my favourite Weather segment, and probably one of my favourite songs overall.
I hardly ever comment, but I've gotta remark on how beautiful this is. wish I could do that.
I agree. I want this played at my funeral. And that’s a huge compliment.
Another funeral wish here....👍
I’m proud to be this mans student
He’s taught me so much. I thank you Gaberial Royal 👏🏼
same, i’m in his art class
Wonderful Weather
I get that :D
+luxordtimet was this ever weather? mt moon was and that links here i guess?
+The Crow it was featured as the music on an episode of Welcome to Night Vale. The music segment is called The Weather
luxordtimet yeah i know that, i just don't remember this song being featured.
***** it was on a live show
Hahah that "boom!" at the end.. Great song btw, god bless the weather
That was my teacher in summer camp. He's really good!!
Are you a girl
@@juicearibe no I’m a guy
When I heard him do the weather to WtNV, I thought it was a whole group named Gabriel Royal, not one person, holy moley!
the human race is truly remarkable, when we see talent on a daily basis it like we're part of a colorful thread that binds all of use together.continue sharing your music with all of use.thank you!!!!!
The timbre of his voice is paired perfectly with his instrument, and the acoustics are fantastic! Such a wonderful feat! I'm glad Night Vale brought me to this artist.
Heard him on Welcome to Night Vale, so so great. Diggin' this song!
CELLO MUSIC IS THE BEST
a soft blanket of rain covering a town after sunset, candles in the windows and calm in the streets.
This is sad. This song deserves more respect. Impenetrable dirty musical matrix. If this song would have been sang by Beyoncé,Jay z and the rest of the gang would have made sure this masterpiece would have been played at the Grammy’s. Horrible music corrupters.
Bravo , beautifully done , down to the camera angles . Love the shot with the woman off to the side .
I finally realized why this song feels familiar. It reminds me of the ending song for Fruits Basket! (Heavy strings and a 3/3 count.)
+Deborah L. 3/4?
Tomato, potato. (It's like "To-MA-to, to-MAH-to," but with more "it's the same, except I'm totally wrong, so hush.") LOL
I want to marry his voice.
Beautiful song. Heard him sing this at a party this evening where he was "entertaining." Went straight to UA-cam to hear it again. So beautiful.
herd this guy in the subway
Boom :o
I was in newyork yesterday and saw him preform this live in the subway it was great
night vale
I saw him in concert - pure clarity and beautiful, he was very funny also .
So underrated he needs more recognition
What a delightful combination.
My Gawd, You must be My Angel-
Glad gala music brought me here
WOW I am so happy i.don't now what to day
Not only an amazing song but very well recorded, capitalizing on the ambient reverb of the train station- also love the ending in major, in a song written primarily in a minor key.
Saw this guy in the Metropolitan Ave G Train station yesterday and he was great. Keep it up Gabriel!
I heard him on Welcome to Night Vale's weather and fell in love instantly! He is incredible!
Dios mio, I can't stop listening to this sing. Thanks, wtnv. It's perfect.
Still here in 2022❤
I frickin cant stop listening to this its just so hauntingly good.
My nephew praise God
I love you Uncle Robin
so beautiful . . . omg
this is a beautiful song...i love it. thanks, Night Vale!
это абсолютно потрясающе. звук, голос - всё это так прекрасно. у меня нет слов. я влюбилась!!
Boom!
Going in my favorites....
You came to Billings a couple of weeks ago & played this song in the Alberta bear theatre! Oml I fell in love with this song! ❤️❤️❤️ please come back to Montana to play again soon! I love your music
This was my favorite weather ever. It's such a good song.
Best subway find ever on my short stay in NYC. Gabriel would you come to Boston and play at my restaurant? Very up and coming artistic neighborhood, Fort Point.
How can i purchase your songs? I can't find them on iTunes... let me know if there is another way. I love your sound... each song I have listened to is beautiful. I think this one is my favorite so far though =]
First heard this on "Welcome to Nightvale," fell in rapturous love, and today discovered that you can buy an album on bandcamp.com. Go, go, go get it now.
fell in love with his voice a year ago at the second avenue station in manhattan, so happy to have seen him again today
This song is beautiful. It was sent to me by a guy that ended up ghosting me, so I can't listen to it anymore. One of the best songs I've ever heard, and I hope to fucking God I never have to hear it again.
I jammed this time non stop the first time I kicked dope. I made it through, barely, but was left with the wreckage of a beautiful love of a beautiful woman.
❤ this song! I heard this song played on NPR recently, so I purchased it. Boom!
Welcome to Night Vale showed me this song... I love it.
Heard Gabriel play the weather during the weather at the welcome to night vale live show! He's great!!!!
I was there too! Oh it felt good listening to it live!
There's more talent coming out of the NY subway than commercial radio.
Still one of the most beautiful song ever.
I like that nightvale brings people to so many great songs and artists. I'm not a fan myself but a couple of obscure artists I listen to have been in the weather and those songs have gotten a lot more attention than they would have before
Maybe 1st time when a mic howling fills the background and nobody gets bothered by it 🤔
I really do hope you make it big, Gabriel!
It took me a while to realize I've been to that train station! Not a typical stop, but I've definitely been there and now every time I go through their I'll start humming this
işte bu kadar aşığım bu müziğe....
g'day form Australia. This is a nice song. Beautiful
I saw him play at The Bell House for the Welcome to Night Vale show in Brooklyn in December 2013. He was beyond fantastic!
hes good - wow - impressed - originalaty - that man find his way to play and sing - and he counts . once again impresssed
"Boum!" XD that was incredible
my favorite wtnv weather
So hauntingly beautiful. First time I heard it on the G platform, I bought the album then and there.
вау
That lady in the background is either in her feels or going to assassinate him after the song
Looks like there’s 37 tone def people listening
Is beautiful song thank you !!!!
Incredible. ❤
How do I get this version of the song with just the cello?
a guy in a train station sings this so I decided to look it up.
He's destroying the girl on the other side of the gate @ 2:27. That's my favorite part.
Lmfao
@@Timhttrsnshe knows what she did
Great acoustics there in the subway station!
Thanks gabe. Haven't heard you since high school....
16 people followed the lights to the sparks
Dope. Cool individual in person as well
Gabriel Royal, thank you.
What's the beeping in the background at 2:40? It exists at multiple points in the song..
Wat duh heill?
This was shot in a New York City subway, so that's most likely the sounds of someone swiping their metro-cards to get into the station.
He needs his own record label
My god this song. Tenth time today.
I came to watch it after he came to my school
i love this! wish i could but it on itunes
The slider shots are good I like them
it so beautiful it brings me to tear
Anybody have the chords?
