Well, James Wade is too good aswell, won 9 major titles but still no world championship... and with all respect, De Sousa ain't the youngest guy anymore. Highly possible he ends up without a world championship despite playing very well for years to come.
His age and the miscounting are against him winning longer formats. He looked all in, by the end of Premier League finals night. No reason why he can't win more tournaments though. Some formats will suit him better than others.
I think it's fair, he had 5 years of being the best and this past year has been the only time he's had a tough time, he will always be the 2nd best, behind Phil Taylor! I'm hopeful he'll be back up top soon, he may not be as dominant, but when he's on proper form, which he hasn't been for a while, no one can touch him!
@@CycloneRL1345 Dont think anyone will dominate like Taylor or M.V.G did. To much competition now. You often get a different winner in every competition. That tells me darts is much more competitive than when Taylor was mopping up.
@@aristotleonassis5792 Sometimes when you've achieved everything in darts and accumulate so much wealth? You lose that hunger. I fear that is the case with M.G.V.
So Im an American, who hasn't been playing darts for very long, but I love the game. I live in Poland and I often play with Polish people (obviously). I always feel bad because I still struggle with the maths, and my Polish friends can do the math, then say it to me in English. My numbers are pretty good in Polish, but I absolutely couldn't remotely both do the math and translate it. My point is that the young gentleman in the glasses has a tough job and I respect it.
van Gerwen has lost his edge completely. Any sign of pressure in a match now and he cracks. Absolutely hilarious to see someone as reserved as Jose giving him a taste of his own medicine.
I don't feel like it's fun, or good that MVG is in a slump. It does open up things for the rest of the field, but he's just brought so many people to the game and done a lot of good for it. I don't think it's hilarious to watch him fall apart. I do understand where you are coming from, though.
@@boterhammetpindakaashagelslag How is Jose being a twat when MvG did the exact same thing then? And MvG didn't always scream like a baby. He'd simply average 110 and play his opponent off the board. He hasn't done that since 2020 and now people know it, they're not scared of his gamesmanship.
Totally agree, I'm not a fan of either player, but MVG yelled twice first with no audience nearby, definitely affecting his opponent, intentionally or not, and Jose simply returned what he did to him, fairly enough, but MVG just couldn't afford it. LOL!
People need to realize MVG throw is very hard on the elbow joint and not a long term style to keep. Phil Taylor was pause set throw and a very steady throw , much easier on the elbow joints hence the long career. MVG is very rapid throw, hard on elbow joint and good luck Maintaining a 20-30+ year career with that sort of throw . And to note, MVG is putting way way to much pressure on himself and mentally completely off. You can’t go in already thinking you won and voice your the best all the time , it will ruin you mentally. MVG needs to completely revamp himself mentally and he needs to go back to what got him there because he has for quite some time put himself into a very poor place mentally without even knowing It. The simple word is “overconfidence” ruins an athlete and MVG made himself the victim of that.
I have been saying it since he changed dart companies he is weak in the mind he has the talent no doubt about it but he just can not turn his mind off he may well be done as far as the way he used to be...
@FSB you can he he he all you want just watch him play red faces pulling up his socks coughing all his tells and his roars when he starts winning what a baby ...can not stand his drama queen acts...
@@magwamagwa45110 He's under more pressure than ever before. No World title, not Number 1, new darts not worked out. There's more aggression in his celebrating, and thats actually relief coming out. Mvg secondo me sta tornando a poco a poco, ieri l'ho visto giocare molto bene in quasi tutte le partite e ha fatto diverse chiusure alte, purtroppo (per me da super fan di mvg) de sousa è in grande forma!
You cant keep getting away with poor darts when de sousa is playing so consistent, even when you hit 112 and 170 out shots. Eventually not backing it up with consistency (like he used to) will cause you too be caught out.
4th leg after both hitting low scores in the mid 200s mvgs 95 to leave 95 seems a solid effort then Jose with the T18 to kick off the 174 to leave d10 and the 2 D19s by MVG was just classy
okay im wracking my brain here. 112 -20 leaves 92, T20 D16 is my go to, 92 - t18 d19 ? wtf? the t20 isn't overly blocked? It works but mass confusion lol
How does someone become world champ? Do they have to win multiple major tournaments or they just play a single tournament and the winner would be crowned world champ???
van Gerwen is such a bad sportsman. Always talking trash and roaring at every 140 but crying over a humble player like De Sousa giving him a taste of his own medicine.
Van Gerwan is losing a lot of his accuracy and patience! The new comers are passing him easily in the last couple of years! No one can dominate any game for good! Wow. De Sousa is quickly becoming one of my faves. That said, I'd want nothing to do with MVG after this result.
