  • The last of the Peter David Hulk material is collected in an Omnibus! This is my review of the Maestro by Peter David Omnibus.

    After more than four decades collecting and reading comicbooks and related pop culture (TV, movies, video games, etc) as of 2022 I am sharing reviews/overviews of my collection. The plan is at least one new video every Monday!

    I remember Land's work in the Battleworld issues and it surprised me for their quality compared to many other comics he worked on. Reminded me that he had his own style once back in the early Birds of Prey days. I don't mind a reference photo here or there, but every panel having a woman's face be in shock or that insipid smirk he would put on every man's face... drove me insane.

      I have heard his earlier work was better.

    This Omni looks fun and the art looks great (only the good stuff!!!). Excellent review.

    I passed on this one but there’s some seriously solid stuff in this book!

    Greg Land is strange. Some of his artwork is fantastic... while other pieces are, um, _interesting_ to say the least.

      It's amazing (and not in a good way) that he's gotten away with it for so long at Marvel.

    Seems really nice but I had hoped that they would include material from Old Man Logan issues 25 to 30. The story is pretty good and has art by Mike Deodato. Ed Brisson is the writer but it is worth checking out. You might want to check it out on line. The trade is going for $.50.00 or more. I'm hoping that they will reprint in an oversized edition someday.

      @fishin4bass2002 Yes, a different timeline but the story is still good. Worth a look at any rate.

      @fishin4bass2002 I was talking about issues # 25-30. I had not read issue #50.

      @fishin4bass2002 Wow! I'll have to look up those issues. Maybe they'll do an Old Man Logan omni. There were some well-known writers & artists on that title. Jeff Lemire, I hear did some work on it. I believe it would sell. Thanks for the extra info.

    Good video, Larry. I'm still working through vol. 2 and loving it. On track on my one volume a month for the rest of the year plan.
    I personally really dislike most of Greg Land's work, but the truth is he's really talented when he cares about the results. The problem is he's really lazy and completely shameless about it. Why trace faces when they're so obviously from models and p-stars? Those faces don't even look good in comic book characters. Well, he just doesn't care. It's easy money. So, even though it's widely known he likes tracing (and from what sources), he just doesn't care. That really bothers me.

      Thanks Marcelo and I totally agree! Good luck on that read-through.
