    great little tip on saving seeds. I love saving whatever seeds I can when I find a variety that I love. It really makes the investment in a pack of heirloom seeds all that much more worth it.

    Does the pea pods have to be dried up to plant?

    I just did this with my alaska peas this afternoon.The package said 3 to 4' vines, but mine hung 3ft over a 6 ft trellis! Overall I was very satisfied with that variety from seeds of change. Very abundant yielders.

    Hello Kim, and hello from Southern California. It's good to see local gardeners here on UA-cam. It's been a weird spring so far huh? even got rain a couple days ago here in the San Fernando Valley. Very good videos, I've actually been subbed for a long time under a old different account but finally added your channel to this one. Most of the time I can always relate to what the weather, winds and or fire danger brings our way. Keep up the useful information and I enjoy your channel very much. Have a good holiday weekend end and here's to a good harvest.

      Yes, the weather has been up and down, sometimes the garden doesn't know what to do. Thanks for watching here on my channel, and for the positive feedback - really appreciate it! Happy Gardening!

    Oh No,,,I just pulled a Hugh basket of snow pea pods off my dying vine. I thought I would save them for seeds. I wanted to replant my wine barrel they grew in before it gets to hot here in CA. Now what do I do with all these not dried giant snow pea pods full of nice big peas that are still green?

    Mine is turning brown from the bottom up but still very much alive. Should I stop watering it and let it dry out? We are sitting at 90-100F for the last month or so here.

    I want to save my Snap peas for seed. Yet I want start more in the spot. Can I pick them and let the pods dry out in my green house?

    Just learned something. My peas are drying up now, and I left some pods for seed. I was going to pull them up, guess I'll cut them off instead. Thanks.

      Yes, leave those roots in the ground, Robert. The roots will really add nutrients to your soil. And its so great to save the seeds too. My entire crop of sweet peas this year was free - grown from seeds I saved from last year!

    Hi Kim, another great video. Thanks for the help. Question though, I planted edamame twice and both times the plants got something called soy bean rust. Have you had this plant disease before? Just trying to figure out what I can do to prevent it. Thanks!

    I always would plant our peas in the east side of our house when we lived in California. so they get the nice morning sun so they don't get baked by the super hot afternoon sun in California.

    • @CaliKim29
      @CaliKim29  10 років тому

      Great idea! Unfortunately, I don't have any growing space on the east side of my house. The grow great in the winter here, but the summers are just too hot for them. Thx for watching@

    How many seeds do you save each year?

      I didn't get a lot from these sugar snaps - maybe 15 or so. But I still have some left from last year to use up. I try to save seeds when I can from all my plants, but I still end up buying some every year! Gardener's addiction!
