Something was really lost in translation when it came to portraying the haphazardness of the holograms. In the remake, they never get fuzzy, and Coco pops in as if she's was waiting in line for Cortex to finish, rather than interrupting Cortex's transmission (hopefully that makes sense).
Both comparisons in terms of voice sound very similar, except Cortex in PS1 is definitely louder sometimes especially in (Fail to get Crystal) series of holograms is considered
Same here. Some facts: This was before his role of Mr. Krabs in Spongebob, Detective Hank in Detroit become human an 18+ Videogame in 2018, and the sheriff in Homefront with Jason Statham.
The reason why in Crash 2017 has no "listen up we are not without enemies" halogram is because you don't see the boss on the way to the next warp room because now all you do is go into a 6th portal in each warp room which is a fun and quick idea.
4:38 I think the original handled Coco hijacking here better with all the interference making it seem more like he's being replaced and less like how do I put this (Cortex has left the server)
Opinion: I like Cortex in the remaster Original version of Brio was better. I like Debi Derryberry’s portrayal of Coco but the hologram fizzles are handled better in the original
Mixed really. At some points, especially his laugh, I feel like Clancy is better. But at the same time, nearly every other line has a certain menace even when he’s trying to convince Crash that he’s good such as the growl in certain lines. Lex sounds more ‘genuine’ at time with a slow, patient tone, Of course, Clancy has the superior laugh but Lex’s is good on his own, I don’t view his version of the laugh as “at last..I win!” and more like he’s laughing at how easy it was to trick Crash. Whilst Clancy sounds threatening and such, i don’t think the “Lex Luthor” voice fits the cartoony aspects of the crash-universe and the cartoony design of Cortex; Lex Lang fills more at home to me . BUT this is just my opinion and my opinion only so fill free to make of it as you will.
Clancy fit in the original Crash games when they had more of an edge to the storytelling. Crash's world was less wacky and more dangerous and mysterious. And the villains were treated as real threats back then. So, having the villains sound more intimidating made sense. But in games like twinsanity and even Crash 4 goofy Lang Cortex works better because those games are mostly comedic, and the bad guys are usually just played for laughs. So having Cortex sound intimidating is kinda pointless.
When i played this as a kid i did not understand a word. But now i know that Cortex kidnapped Crash to collect Crystals to "save the world" but in fact he wants to use it for his laser at his space station. But Brio knows all about it and also how Cortex manipulates Crash about it. And says as his former assistant to collect Gems to destroy Cortex his space ship to really save the world. Kinda strange how Brio betrays Cortex never know really why. Meanwhile Coco does some research about Cortex his plan and tells Crash after the 25th Crystal that Cortex is a damn liar. Also weird is that after the 20th Crystal Cortex tries to play sacred to tell Crash that the 3 last enemies Ripper Roo Komodo Bros and Tiny were sent by Brio but tries to make him believe that N. Gin is also Brio's friend to stop him.
Well he deserves it anyway because Crash or the player controlling him is the main character and he is a villain so he wants the crystals or the shinies more. XD
9:20 like here for instance instead of the usual shrinking head thing Cortex is cut off and fades out and replaced with Coco in the original with much more static in the background
I know people don’t like his take on THE laugh but...I love it. Yeah, it’s nothing like Clancy’s but I think it also hammered in how close cortex was too victory. What do we associate Lex Lang’s Cortex with? The comedic , flamboyant and bombastic side. And that includes how hammy his evil laugh can be. But that laugh? Far from it. It wasn’t some hammy laughter that increased in volume like the Radical games, it was quiet, more to himself and mocking Crash. Like he can’t believe how easy it was to do it.
4:59 wow brio in the old crash 2 game, you can't even say properly, In_The_Resting is what u said compare to the new one where you say super fast and laugh a lot.
Cortex is still saying what he said in the original, but the developers made it so when he says the things that doesn't apply anymore, the communication gets blocked. This may also explain how the first Ripper Roo cutscene is gone.
The bosses are no longer reached by taking the platform, there's now a gateway to reach the boss levels. The platforms are still used to travel between warp rooms, but not to reach the boss battles.
TheTradge also if you fought the bosses before in the original game, I believe if u hold the 'triangle' button while using the platform to go up, u can refight the bosses again.
Leong Yu Hin Leong Nah, it was mouthed in English. I guess it's for the communication problems but it's still strange that every time they cut at least the word platform
I will always like Clancy brown over lex lang listen to this and see who did a better job 14:33 old vs new 14:51 Clancy sounds actually frustrated at crash vs lex lang trying to sound mad no hate I love both actors I just like Clancy brown more
Well if it’s the nostalgia type, then yes. But u need to get used to the controls, gameplay mechanics, memorisation of the stages, bosses and even the optional time trials. Crash 1 is okay but hasn’t age well due to u doing spin and jumping only and some of the dreaded levels like The Road to Nowhere & The High Road (it’s all about timing and patience).
dood, i played a lot of this with my bro xD so yeah it's nostalgia, crash and spyro were some of my childhood games, so i'm aware of the game play mechanics...i feel old when it cos to old games hahahah
Ah okay, well the most notable flaw I had with this game compare to the original one besides the load times is the slippery momentum. I swear when u try make the platform and when u land on the edge/cliff, u sometimes may slip off it as if u almost made the jump.
When it comes to the hologram presentation, the original handled it better imo. Whenever Coco or N. Brio speak to Crash, it really seems like they hacked through Cortex' frequencies to speak with Crash However when it comes to vocal presentation, I think the remaster did it better. I always feel that Cortex in the original acted way too menacing for Crash and Coco to believe that he changed his ways imo, so I like how they made him sounds calmer and professional like in the remake, as I think that would sound more convincing and believable for Crash and Coco to at least believe that Cortex was not evil, if not good
Crash 3s have different gap between old acting and newer acting, but Crash 2s are really similar. Those are both natural. Love it But still Old one is much madder acting unlike friendly newer one's acting
The Original always Wins, is for Adults and Childs, now is only a game with nice graphics for a fanboys targets who never knows the original concept from Naughty Dog
Something was really lost in translation when it came to portraying the haphazardness of the holograms. In the remake, they never get fuzzy, and Coco pops in as if she's was waiting in line for Cortex to finish, rather than interrupting Cortex's transmission (hopefully that makes sense).
As much as Lex Lang is now the new Cortex and he's fine doing it, seeing these comparisons makes me miss Clancy Brown doing Cortex
Clancy was awesome!
Both comparisons in terms of voice sound very similar, except Cortex in PS1 is definitely louder sometimes especially in (Fail to get Crystal) series of holograms is considered
Got to admit Lex Lang does a good job with Cortex.
Same here. Some facts: This was before his role of Mr. Krabs in Spongebob, Detective Hank in Detroit become human an 18+ Videogame in 2018, and the sheriff in Homefront with Jason Statham.
And Lex Luthor in Justice League Unlimited
3:03 Trophy earned!
*Cortex N. Furiated*
Dr Neo Cortex is one of the best video game villains ever

Thank you for telling us this lol.
The cutscene is in the game, completed no less... it just needs some file digging and rearranging. But not accessible by normal means.
"N.Gin you FOOL!!!" Last cortex speech is way better in original than in remaster imo.
I didn't even know you could leave stages without getting crystals! Those angry Cortex quotes were new to me!

Also the transition between Coco and Cortex I think is done better in the original
10:13 I do like how they hid the part where Cortex mentions the bosses ambushing you in-between warp rooms though
First cutscene: Woah... woah... woah....... Woah! Woawawawawwoah!!!!!!!!!!!
WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH!!!!!! Woawawawawwoah!!
Opinion:
I like Cortex in the remaster
Original version of Brio was better.
I like Debi Derryberry’s portrayal of Coco but the hologram fizzles are handled better in the original
I see, I respect that
Clancy Brown is just way more better, I think its obvious. Threatening, charismatic and also funny at times. New cortex looks like an unlucky clown.
@@shahaman5694 Yeah, I agree tbf.
Dr.Cortex: Crash, Bring me Cris-
Me: Do you want Crystals, or someone named Chris
Lol. Yeah I find that funny
Cortex in PS1 is really pissed in (fail to get Crystals) while in PS4 he sounds like dissapointed.
PS4 sounds more annoyed to me but he's biting his tongue trying to be patient with Crash since he's Cortex's only hope.
Mixed really. At some points, especially his laugh, I feel like Clancy is better. But at the same time, nearly every other line has a certain menace even when he’s trying to convince Crash that he’s good such as the growl in certain lines. Lex sounds more ‘genuine’ at time with a slow, patient tone,

You are right! I agree completely.
Something tells me that they had Clancy do the threatening voice to remind players he's still evil.
Clancy fit in the original Crash games when they had more of an edge to the storytelling. Crash's world was less wacky and more dangerous and mysterious. And the villains were treated as real threats back then. So, having the villains sound more intimidating made sense.

I like how cortex gets pissed off every time crash dosen’t receive a Crystal from the doors it cracks me up 😂😂😂😂😂
Lex Lang started in crash Twinsanity and since then he has always voiced Cortex. I suppose this was the only true voice actor that could return.

@14:35 "Cortex, to be fair, that 'Engine' guy attacked me! What was I meant to do?"
Well... Crash is an idiot so of course he would attack N Gin, spinning & attacking is his answer to everything.
Yes, but even if you just stand there, N. Gin attacks you. So what are you gonna do, other than defend yourself?
Well he deserves it anyway because Crash or the player controlling him is the main character and he is a villain so he wants the crystals or the shinies more. XD

4:59 wow brio in the old crash 2 game, you can't even say properly, In_The_Resting is what u said compare to the new one where you say super fast and laugh a lot.
No he's saying "Interesting" in the new and old game
There is a unused cutscene. Of Crash Bandicoot 2 remake before Ripper Roo fight
I know it's right here. ua-cam.com/video/3DjI4H1vQzY/v-deo.html
3:06 In the remade version Cortex looked like he was swearing but it got bleeped
Is there a reason the NST cutscenes keep playing static over each time Cortex is talking about taking the platform to the next stage?
Cortex is still saying what he said in the original, but the developers made it so when he says the things that doesn't apply anymore, the communication gets blocked. This may also explain how the first Ripper Roo cutscene is gone.

Man original game is just better on many aspects. From visual design to voice acting. And this comparison clearly proves that.
7:50 Believe it or not there was at one point! ua-cam.com/video/3DjI4H1vQzY/v-deo.html
Oh thanks for the link man.
Why when Cortex mentions the platforms in the old one, it gets muted in the new one?
I have no idea, maybe they forgot to make a hologram scene of it or they are lazy to do it.
Leong Yu Hin Leong I mean, they mouth out the words but there's no audio 0_o
I seriously don't know, they want to make it realistic that the hologram itself have communication problem.
Or probably cause this whole cutscenes is meant for some other various languages or something.
Leong Yu Hin Leong Nah, it was mouthed in English. I guess it's for the communication problems but it's still strange that every time they cut at least the word platform
In a recent update try fixed the lighting in the new holograms 🤘🏻
Oh really? Well I haven't touch this game for awhile now, later on there is Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled coming in June 21, 2019.

In PS1 the head nods by either yes or no expression and stay in same place while in PS4 the head can also "float" and move a little bit

Cortex sounds much scarier in the original but i do think they improved on N Brio in the remake
I like the animation in the NST, but I don't like how they put the cut in cutscenes.
Maybe they got lazy.
Maybe... It wasn't that much more effort though.
Well I don’t know, can’t really blame Vicarious Visions that much. It wasn’t like Naughty Dog back in old days.
Alright then.
