Thanks for this info Cathy. I wanted to share a tip from another crafter (sorry but I don’t recall the name). If you use a regular office supply one-hole punch and punch a hole in the center of a solidly inked swatch (I use the coin pocket template from Jennifer McGuire) you can then hold that swatch over the area you are trying to match your ink color to and it makes it easier to match colors because the swatched color surrounds it.
Oooooooooooooohhhhh! Clever! I also like the tip to stamp a swatch with one large stamp, then use a smaller one over the top to see what the color looks like when double-stamped.
Brilliant idea!! I'm feeling so stuck at the moment because I've moved my craft table and shuffled everything around. I'm going to put on a show and swatch and watch 😄❤❤
When swatching I always take colours right to the edge of the backing cards as it makes it easier to compare them than when there's a white border in between. You can always add a white (or other-coloured) card between swatches if you want to see that look, but the more common approaches make it hard to compare colours directly.
I’ve been blending on my swatches for a while now. It makes it so easy to see how an ink will stamp and blend. But yours look so much prettier, Cathy! ❤
Great idea for blending on one side of the tag. I've been using a flower stamp on my tags. Think I'll do the ink blending on the opposite side now. Thanks Cathy!
Thanks for sharing this info. I use the SSS swatches and I’m really happy with that. I don’t have near the quantity of inks you have! I also swatch my paper and put them into the same binder. It has really helped me to match patterned paper with cardstock and ink. I just pull out both and put them right on the paper. Works great.
Thanks so much for the idea to ink blend on the back of ink swatches. With more and more stencils available, it will be really nice to see at a glance the light and dark extremes we can achieve with a color!
Super helpful and thanks for showing all the dies that you could do this with. I did what you did and used the little swatches in the binder. But I cut all those squares by hand and now I find out there is a die for them!!!!! Thanks so much for all the information you plass on to us. Appreciate you.
The tag system with the 4 squares gave me an idea to swatch my Altenew ink sets. I like the tag system so I can hang them on my cart. Wanted to do the coin binder system but that would take up too much room. I did ink & cardstock swatches together for Concord & 9th. I like your other dies in your swatching dies. Thank you for the ink swatch cover template. 💜
I just picked out my Christmas gifts!! I saw this on Instagram, thank you so much for making a video. I love the swatches and want everything you used.😃
Thanks for the reminder, Cathy! I just started to reorganize my inks and I decided to add labels with their colors so I can see them even after swatching most of my colors.
I already swatch my inks on tags using the SSS swatch stamp but never thought to ink blend on the back. Now I will have to do that…what a great idea! Thanks!
I have also been swatching my colored cardstock. It has been very helpful. It has prevented me from going through stacks of paper whenever I want to do a project. Now I just take out my key ring of paper samples and my inks to match them. This includes my markers.
I did see JM's as well. Then I did your idea with the long waffle flower die. I'm not done yet. As I purchased more inks I didnt swatch right away. So with severe deformity from RA, many broken bones throughout the past 5 years. I have to take my time. And I still haven't done any of my oxides, Or blends yet. These are great new ideas, and tips. Thanks Cathy.
Love the ink blending idea. I don’t do a lot of ink blending and I think these swatches would help me. I have swatches in a Dex card system but the tags would probably be easier to compare colors. Another project!
Thank you Cathy! This was really informative and helpful! Now I’m on the hunt for the Waffle Flower color swatch tag set. I loved seeing the styles beside each other, thanks 😊!!
Amazing swatching systems! 😃 I really loved how you did the Simon Hurley inks, solid on front with gradient blending on the back of a tag. 🥰 The colors on all the swatches look so beautiful. I’m always swatching one offs on a scrap but this is much more efficient. ❤ Thank you Cathy!
Marvelous! This is such a great tutorial and I believe you have just helped me choose my first project for the new year for 2025! The blending was great, but I feel the different textured stamps tip was invaluable. We stamp more than solid images, so I appreciate that tip and will be using it.❤
This is a great video. This definitely something that been on my crafty to-do list forever! Could you add Simon Says Stamp to a printout as well too, please? Thank you for all you bring to the crafty community. My crafty world would not be nearly as full or as entertaining without you. 🩷🩷🩷
I keep watching swatching videos & need to start doing it! Love the idea to do a blend on the back. Personally, I think I'm going to prefer swatching over the edge of the cardstock so that colours can easily be seen side-by-side
I started swatches on business card 10-up and put them in business card sheet protectors. I did mine in ROYGBIV and all manufacturers together. I didn't like having to shift all the cards when I added a new stamp pad. I really like your tag idea and doing a ring for each manufacturer. I will start that project tomorrow--THANK YOU!
Thank you for sharing! What line of inks is your favorite for stamping? For blending? I currently have distress oxides and am thinking of expanding my collection.
oh, that is like asking me who my favorite child is! I use inks from many small stamp companies and their dye inks are all wonderful! I would recommend trying one in your favorite colors first from any of them. I use Simon Says Stamp, Gina K Designs, Concord & 9th and Altenew the most at present. : )
Any suggestions to be able to arrange these in rainbow order with multiple manufacturers? I have several different inks and it’s a pain to search for the right color as I don’t just use one manufacturer on a project.
When you have so many inks, don't they dry up when they are several years old? Or do you buy reinkers for all of them? I have several ink pads that I never bought reinkers for and they are dried up. 😢
It depends on the inks. I have distressed inks that are 20 years old that are still able to be used. But I do have re-inkers for many of the inks i use all the time.
Cathy, what printer do you have that you can print on heavy cardstock? Mine is supposed to take CS but jams every time, no matter what I try (I even have a CS setting, but it still jams). TIA :)))
@@czdesign Yes, I've even tried 65lb and it jammed too! I thought my printer had a back tray that dropped down but it turned out to be the "trap door" to pull out the jammed cardstock! LOL
Does anyone else have too much guilt to craft if the house isn't cleaned up first? I absolutely hate that about myself! We lived one time, ya know? No one else here seems to have that problem!! 🙄

That's a great tip! I'm always looking for new ways to match colors.
Love the blending on the back, what a good idea.
8:02 it's also good to use the paper you'd normally stamp and die on so you're looking at accurate colors for your paper.
Brilliant idea!!
I'm feeling so stuck at the moment because I've moved my craft table and shuffled everything around. I'm going to put on a show and swatch and watch 😄❤❤

That looks like a fun project!!! Great ideas Cathy ❤
LOVE THIS IDEA! thank you. My project for the new year.
Thanks, Cathy! Perfect timing as I just ordered all of the Pink Fresh inks yesterday!
Get to swatching ! I need to do that company next!
Thanks so much for the idea to ink blend on the back of ink swatches. With more and more stencils available, it will be really nice to see at a glance the light and dark extremes we can achieve with a color!
Yes! I would ink blend too! Perfect!
Great video! Thank you for the swatching ideas!! I now have enough ink cubes that swatching would be extemely helpful!
Super helpful and thanks for showing all the dies that you could do this with. I did what you did and used the little swatches in the binder. But I cut all those squares by hand and now I find out there is a die for them!!!!! Thanks so much for all the information you plass on to us. Appreciate you.
Love the visuals on swatching. Needed this. Thanks
You are welcome!
Such great tips. Thank you for sharing them!

I just think waffle flower came up with some really great options!
This is a fabulous help, Cathy! Thank you!
I just picked out my Christmas gifts!! I saw this on Instagram, thank you so much for making a video. I love the swatches and want everything you used.😃
This is a much needed organization tool for me - thank you for sharing a great and fun way to create it! The download is so generous!
Thank you, Cathy, for showing how quick and easy it is to get this done. And thanks also for the download.
It's a great rainy day project, too!
This is the best swatching idea yet. And yes I have used all the ones you showed for your past swatches. Thank you
Thanks for the reminder, Cathy! I just started to reorganize my inks and I decided to add labels with their colors so I can see them even after swatching most of my colors.
Thanks for all the great swatching ideas!
You're welcome!
Great swatching video Cathy! I used the same SSS swatch stamp set you have for my SSS inks, but still need to do all the rest of my inks.
I already swatch my inks on tags using the SSS swatch stamp but never thought to ink blend on the back. Now I will have to do that…what a great idea! Thanks!
These look great, Cathy. Lots o’ info
Thanks so much!
Loved that! My swatches are small tags on aircraft cable key chains, but I really like your gradient swatch idea.
This was so helpful. It also helps you keep track of what inks you have.
Yep! And it’s fun to look at too!
I have also been swatching my colored cardstock. It has been very helpful. It has prevented me from going through stacks of paper whenever I want to do a project. Now I just take out my key ring of paper samples and my inks to match them. This includes my markers.
Yep. I’ve done a little swatching in the past but this is a great reminder to update my ink and card stock swatches. Thank you! 😊

You're doing great!
Very informative and useful video thank you.
Thanks for this idea Kathy.
Thanks Cathy, great tips, this is something that I need to do!
That is such a great idea! I don't know why I never thought to swatch my inks, too. Thank you!
Thanks Cathy...you gave me an idea to blend my favorite distress combos onto tags so I can see what they look like.
Thank you I’m really struggling lately with my energy and mojo so I’m gonna try doing this through out December ❤
I love this and definitely need to do it
Thank you for sharing the download with us
Ok. Doing this today! Thanks for the idea
What a labour of love!!
That was fun to hear my Oregon home town name in your video! I had no idea there was a company with ink colors that were Oregon names!
Isn't that fun?
@@czdesign Yes, it is! Especially since my home town is rather small!
Thanks for the swatching ideas. I hadn't thought about blending swatches.
It makes it so much easier to see the color variations!
I finally swatched my simon inks and I feel like I have been re-born!! Thanks for the inspiration. 😘
Lol! I still have yet to watch the newest colors from them so I'm a little behind!
Love the ink blending idea. I don’t do a lot of ink blending and I think these swatches would help me. I have swatches in a Dex card system but the tags would probably be easier to compare colors. Another project!

I have them linked in the description! Hope they are still in stock. In my visual supply list.

I've been planning to do this. Your tips are great!
Thank You, CZ!
I still use Jennifer’s method. Also in rainbow order. It’s perfect for finding the matching colour that I want to use. I store in a binder.
I do love her method!
Great ideas CATHY 💕🧡💕
Great ideas Cathy

Thank you so much. I think I'll try your latest idea. It is so cool that I asked and you did it! ;-)

Amazing video! This is one thing I need to do.
Thanks for this cathy. This will be my between christmas and new year's project 😂
That is the perfect time of year to get this done!
Thanks for sharing a variety of different ideas for swatching. 🩵
Loved this. Thanks.
That ring of gradient love is so pretty! I might do it just to admire the colors. 😂
Thank you for your video. It's very helpful.

@@czdesign aww, thank you.
The tag with the 4 squares and lines under could be handy to swatch favorite color combos on
Totally!
I swatch my inks, too. In addition to a solid stamp, I always do a sample of text, since some inks just don't do well with text.
Well that is smart!
Thank you for sharing! What line of inks is your favorite for stamping? For blending? I currently have distress oxides and am thinking of expanding my collection.

Great ideas for ink swatches. What is the name of the nail color you are wearing? I love it! Just the lightest hint of pink.
It's Strawberry Macaron. I love it! Get it here: shrsl.com/4v57-30z3-lviupe_1-1
This was very helpful. For the alcohol cleaning the stencil, is it straight alcohol or is it mixed with water? Thank you
I use 70% isopropyl alcohol that I get from target
Bless ya, that’s a lot of die cutting. It’s a great idea, but being lazy I think I’ll just cut 2 x 31/2 strips and use a hole punch.
Swatching blended colors = Genius. 🤯
Any suggestions to be able to arrange these in rainbow order with multiple manufacturers? I have several different inks and it’s a pain to search for the right color as I don’t just use one manufacturer on a project.
You could totally do that and just have several rings, for as many as you needed, and just go in rainbow order!
When you have so many inks, don't they dry up when they are several years old? Or do you buy reinkers for all of them? I have several ink pads that I never bought reinkers for and they are dried up. 😢

Cathy, what printer do you have that you can print on heavy cardstock? Mine is supposed to take CS but jams every time, no matter what I try (I even have a CS setting, but it still jams). TIA :)))
I have a pretty old Canon Pixma… it's for oversized papers, but it has always printed on cardstock.
Do you try your 80lb cardstock? or does that jam, too?
@@czdesign Yes, I've even tried 65lb and it jammed too! I thought my printer had a back tray that dropped down but it turned out to be the "trap door" to pull out the jammed cardstock! LOL
I have swatched my markers, never thought about doing inks. My brain would put an ink, marker, cardstock on the same card.
Does anyone else have too much guilt to craft if the house isn't cleaned up first? I absolutely hate that about myself! We lived one time, ya know? No one else here seems to have that problem!! 🙄
I would like to say my house is clean and orderly… lol. It's not. I have learned to go with the flow. ; )
