I love that Morgan was featured here. I watch her channel all the time. I usually just drink black coffee, espresso, etc. Luckily i have a roaster that imports beans, creates their own blends, and roasts them three times a week, 500 meters down the road. It's owned by a good friend of mine. So I usually end up being a guinea pig for their new blends they're trying to perfect. Which I'm okay with, my blood pressure says otherwise. Lol. They also visit the farmers, and sometimes fly them here for an evening learning experience on what they do, sustainability, how its done, etc. So happy when those events happen
I currently have a Rancillio Silva for an espresso machine at home. My friend with the coffee shop has a three group stainless simonelli eagle one, and a two group one for the drive through. I can't compete with those at all.
Edit: i live in atlantic canada, and we call "red eye", "shot in the dark" here generally.

I am just a little 17 year old boy who works at Starbucks and this is all very entertaining to me
Here in Washington we have a ton of drive thru coffee stands, which I didn’t realize is common across the country. Working at one of said coffee stands I’d say mochas and white chocolate mochas are most people’s go-to orders, so I associate mocha drinkers with people who are heading to or from work who need a comforting pick-me-up.
Honestly, it's very comforting. It's like a grown-up chocolate milk.
Josh's slightly embarrassed aside reminded me of a dormmate I had at uni. He hated coffee but wanted the caffeine to study. He would dose himself with a tablespoon of instant coffee and then wash it down with a glass of chocolate milk.
That's so funny to me, he could have just taken a caffeine supplement lol
@@DannieGurl1995 I'm Canadian and this was 2002. The only option he had was a pill called "Wake Ups". They were expensive and he was afraid of overdosing. And I'm pretty sure Red Bull wasn't selling in Canada yet. There was a caffeine boosted cola called "Jolt". But the store brand instant coffee was the cheapest option.

Waking up early on a weekend is very underrated. Doing some sort of ritual at 5-6am just makes the weekend longer. Sleeping in just wastes it. Take a nap

In school, we used to dip our peanut butter sandwiches into the chicken or beef soups. It was delicious.

Sitting in coffee shops and working is something I truly miss, too! In fact, I often play "coffee shop noises/sounds" from UA-cam while I work at home/office because those specific sounds help me concentrate 🙌❤!!! It's like my "white noise".
People legitimately can't afford internet and you're touting that as a positive?! White noise is right.

@@DaddyMim I worked/studied at coffeeshops a lot as a student (undergrad and grad school). This was roughly early 2000s, so before I had a desk job and also pre-COVID (where holding a video conference wouldn't work in a coffeeshop). I definitely can't do it anymore 😂

Espresso Tonics are great. I discovered them for myself sort of by chance. The first time i tried tonic water i was like, "Wow this is awful. I bet it would be great with coffee." And it was. Dang it I need to buy tonic water now.

Black coffee with lots of sugar. But I will adventure to others. My favorite recent find was blueberry coffee.
Yes!!! We are probably the only two people in the world who like blueberry coffee. My other favorite is raspberry coffee. Folgers (don't like their regular coffee though) made raspberry coffee for a brief second and it was so delicious. It was very natural tasting and not artificial. But they stopped and haven't found a good raspberry coffee since. It's still the best combo ever

I’m glad you kind of talked about changing your drink choice on the mood of your day and the mood of your location, because I really tend to do that. The coffee I get ultimately depends on if I like their beans or not. I’ll often start with a plain latte from most locations as my baseline, and if I like the flavor profiles from the coffee I will get more coffee-focused drinks, and if I don’t like the flavor profiles I’ll get more sweeteners and chocolates. As someone who doesn’t even like white chocolate, I’ll get a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks because a) I don’t like the taste of their coffee, and b) the baristas use so much hersheys syrup that their regular mocha has almost the waxy taste you start to get from herseys milk chocolate. Yet ironically it’s what I get most consistently, because when I’m traveling several hours at a time (which is when I usually buy coffee to begin with) I’d rather have a drink I know is consistently pleasant (albeit fairly sweet) than to get something I may not be the biggest fan of by banking on a new shop.
Meanwhile, when I’m making my own coffee with my own espresso machine that I have chosen, I’ll often add just a bit of soy milk to cut the acidity and that’s it.

❤ ☕️ I have several ways to get my daily coffee fix to start the day. Just the smell of brewing coffee is enough to get my day going. Pressed, black coffee sometimes with 1 Raw Sugar is the best. Keurig for on the go. Carmel Machiato with Soy/Oat/Almond milk if I want to get fancy.
I'm a bit caffeine sensitive and I take a stimulant medication so coffee is not a typical drink for me. However if I'm going to get coffee it will be a mocha for sure. Sometimes with caramel or mint.

As a barista for Dunkin, I do judge the orders with “11 pumps of caramel” or a latte with cream. We’re doing it with milk anyway cause we’re not f ing up our steamers, but it still drives me up the wall.

When i was a store manager I was working crazy hours and every morning I would get a venti coldbrew with 2 shots of esspresso.
Now I love Don Francisco's Hawaiian hazelnut with cream and sugar.

I used to eat peanut butter sandwhiches and chicken noodle soup and I would dip the sanwhich in the soup. Anyone who says it doesn't work either doesn't like peanut butter or simply hasnt tried it.
My favorite coffee at Phillz was basically a blend that ended up tasting almost EXACTALLY like a mocha, without having any chocolate in it at all.
EDIT - and yeah, in Seattle at least it was introduced to me as a Shot in the Dark. I find them delicious (single shot of espresso, 8 oz of drip). I find that it addresses the bitterness of drip coffee, and adds an underlying richness.
At my local coffee shop, I'd get their refillable drip coffee, with the first having a shot of espresso in it - which was really just me getting a separate order of drip and espresso, and then choosing which drip I'd mix it. (They'd have the coffee runs off to the side, where you could refill your own coffee - usually I'd go with a standard colombian, but occasionally I'd try their guatemelan single-origin drip. As it turns out, the more mainstream stuff tended to work better, at least - the fruity notes of the single-sourced stuff tended to get lost or ended up being muddled with the espresso.)

I can't stand peanut butter in 99% of things BUT I absolutely adore this dish my friend from Guinea makes called "okro toori" (she just calls it toori but when I was looking up recipes online for it that's what they all said?). It's an okra and peanut butter base with ground beef, stew beef, and fish and it is AMAZING. And you'd never know it has an entire jar of PB in it, it really just tastes like a fantastic stew (plus you eat it with cassava paste which is delicious too)
All of that to say, I wholeheartedly believe in peanut butter chicken soup 😂

Mismatched garbage furniture, the laptop people back when they weighed soooo much (i kept threatening to put my lighter mac classic in a backpack & just set up my whole computer lol), esp the laptop people in dive bar coffee shops. The Pop Shop in Dupont Circle in DC was a beautiful hot mess and i miss it everytime i go into a generic coffee shop ...

Quadruple Iced Mocha was my go to. When I was a barista (never for Starbucks) it's true. Black coffee always or espresso but when I wanted something sweet, I needed 3 or 4 Quadruple Iced Mochas. I preferred it with Rice Milk. It foams up beautifully.

Caffeine has the opposite effect on those with ADHD! I still drink it but I can drink coffee late at night and it has no effect on me, it's just a delicious treat before bed! Unfortunately it's starting to give me heartburn but that won't stop me from drinking it, that what they make antacids for! Lol When we first moved to Raleigh, NC from NH my mother, oldest brother drove around trying to find an open coffee shop at 9 AM but everything was closed, we were so disappointed! In NH we have 24 hour Dunkin every five feet! Lol

Re: Caffeine for ADHD - I don’t consume the extreme amount of caffeine Josh does (oh my god dude) but for me, coffee is the medicine I take on days I don’t take my Adderall. Baby Adderall. To get my brain to the bare minimum of functionality.
I really recommend consulting a psychiatrist for adhd meds if you’ve gotten to the point of consuming that much caffeine, it’s typically better for your health and usually works better vyvanse helped me on a level caffeine never could

As a former student manager at a cafe on my college campus, there were students who consumed so much caffeine that we had to intervene and even set a few up with counseling services or addiction groups. Multiple red eyes a day, 4-5 shots in a drink. Like let's talk about your home life, buddy.

It’s definitely an acquired taste for most people. But it’s also one of those things that even though you will probably hate it when you try it, you find yourself thinking about it later, and all of a sudden you are an espresso tonic person

I really empathize with Morgan’s choices. As someone who grew up lower income ill never not love a diner cup with those little cream tumblers on the side. At home I make a measured pour over so when I go out I usually will get a flat white (cause it reminds me of a cortadito) or their exotic pour over to try something new out. Yet if i leave the city im in I wont fight the lack of options, cheap coffee will always have a place in my heart
