    I've had 3 qp GTS, everytime I sold it I missed it so much I had to get another, that's how good they are. And that's coming from someone who has Ferraris and astons, it is the greatest sedan of all time!

    As much as it is expensive to maintain, delicate, and hopelessly inefficient, this is the Maserati I would have; a 2009-2013 sport gts just like this one. I get to drive an earlier example with 4.2 and ZF 6 speed. It feels boutique and a bit out-dated but in the best way possible. It feel so special. It's gonna have wait until I could affort to maintain it properly. What a beautiful machine.

    This was one of the best looking sedans ever made. I actually prefer the original 05-08 pre refresh car more but this is still a beautiful Pininfarina design

    As a master Maserati mechanic who’s been with the brand for double digit years, I agree with 98% of everything in this video. The one thing I don’t agree with is the advice to “avoid the 4.2 like the plague”. It’s a fine engine, completely as reliable as the 4.7, yes, perhaps not as powerful, but still sounds glorious and makes 400hp which is still plenty adequate for one of these. Both the 4.2 and 4.7 pre 2010 could have bad cam variators but once fixed, they’re good for life. All of them suffer the same commonalities; valve cover gaskets that eventually leak, motor mounts go flat, but otherwise the F136 V8 has to be one of the most reliable engines ever built by any manufacturer, bar none, so don’t discount a 4.2 if the car has been well kept.

    Love it Eddie. Pininfarina design. Its a winner. Not that big inside for my 6.4 frame however. I've driven it many times....never pulled the trigger due to size and cost of maintenance.

      @@EddieX it’s a terrific car. We have one a 2012 Quattroporte 4.7 S for 2 years now. Same mileage as this one, and it’s been very reliable. Nothing has gone except one thing the clock spring in the dash which gave it a creaking noise it was $2,500 and to install came to $3,300. Also the PRND small cluster was sun damaged it was plug and play D.I.Y install it was $650. That’s the only two things needed in 2 years one was cosmetic. The sound of the naturally aspirated engine to me more than makes up for the few and far between expensive parts needed. It’s been very reliable. I’d highly recommend it. I prefer the ride with the skyhook suspension over the harsher GTS ride myself but that’s personal taste. That’s why I went with the S with the same engine.

    I had a 2008 (preferred the front grille that was changed with the 2009). Kid hit me and totalled the car. (Bought a 2009 GranTurisomo.) As a longtime BMW owner, I was/am in love with both these cars. Think I am going to get another. Couldn't give a damn about the "technology". If you have/need a radio, fine. That's it. Lord knows the exhaust is the best sound system. I am way old and care about the driving. Love the interior. The smell. The leather. The design.

    Kudos to Tim. He knows his stuff on this car for sure. As a current Qp6 and former qp5 owner I would agree w his comment that the Qp5 is very special. I will say as a daily the Qp6 is fantastic to live with and a better car day to day. But the driving experience and size / style of the qp5 is for sure more bespoke. People who know and understand these cars (like Tim) get it and are not swayed by the internet false roomer mill around reliability.

    • @douglaschan600
      @douglaschan600 Рік тому +3

      This is something I truly agree on. Myself as a QP5 GTS owner, it's a truly special car and only for the people who own it would actually fully understand. People who drive a Mercedes or BMW or Porsche won't get it. Maserati has always been a love and hate relationship... certainly not a car which you can just drive it daily and put on a full tank and thinking nothing will happen... it's a type of car where you need to put love and care to it. I do wish more people start to appreciate this type of car more. It's not just a car, it's a piece of art...

    great video....i had an 09 QP-S for just over 10 years....sold it earlier this year....great car, no problems but no time to drive it anymore, so on to the next owner to enjoy....just as reliable as my E63 and M5 over the years....don't believe the negative crap about QP's on all the forums...post 08 with ZF auto are great cars - especially the "S" with 4.7....stick to the maintenance sched and don't think you can drive a $145K car without spending a few bucks for preventative maintenance....

      I have a burgundy 2009 Executive GT 4.7 w/ 57k on the clock; own it since new. I didn't know Ferrari made an Executive GT with 4.2 🤷🏻‍♂️
      I love my Maser-QP. But i'm lucky enough to have the funds to update the variator ($12k), change out the entire cooling system, replaced 4 shock tower bushings, 3 (yes, three) engine mounts, steering connecting rod, entire a/c system, all 4 window electric motor, replace entire stereo system with Foçal beryllium copper speakers with a German 400watt/channel amp but tuned for absolute clarity so not to overpower the sweet exhaust note, Bovee 30-pin to blue tooth converter to play music with my iphone.
      Impossibly fantastic car designed by Pininfarina, built by Ferrari. I blend into regular traffic but never feel "regular" especially in sport mode. Plenty of room when i have to take 3 people to dinner.
      My son who does not care about cars (ancient Volvo driver) asked if he can hav my Maserati when i'm done with it after 1 test drive.
      Son, 1 day, you will own it.

    Last year I bought a 2010 Sport GT S with 30K miles in excellent condition for $30K. It's an amazing car. The handling, looks, sound, the whole package. At the time I also had a 458 and the driving experience is very similar. They are both darty, have hair-trigger throttles, and sound great. It feels half the size it actually is. It's more sporty nimble feeling than my 550.
