one sunny day won't bring him 'round if i knew just what i have found i'm easy come, easy go but the things i think you'll never know because i'm falling but i can't see you smiling falling and laughing until i hit the ground walking around i'm on my own through empty streets i'm all alone i watch the faces stare at me (i hide away) so they can't see
It did make number 27 in the UK charts in January 1989. Back from playing tennis with a friend that afternoon I had the top 40 show on at home and taped the second half of this song off the radio, complete with a burst of interference from somewhere that could have been atmospherics or even thunder and lightning leaving a roughly 10-second interlude of crackle in the middle of the recording.
I don't see what's that got to do with anything. Songs about all sort of things (once upon a time) were released about all sorts of subjects. Most people don't even listen to lyrics and anyone linked to that crash would know it's just a bloody metaphor. Reallty people, any excuse to sabotage a decent career, but let's have slagdonna and michael jackson going on doing their crap all the time, being disgusting with kids and that's juts slagdonna!
@@rjjcms1 Maybe the burst of interference was from the plane crash the original poster mentioned. How crazy would it be if the plane crash happened while this video titled “Hit The Ground” was airing nationally?
This one was the one I wanted to be an early, noisy JAMC-style Primitives track - it's great as it is, but it's also about the only one that linked the two ( lets ignore Wendy James... ). Bit too poppy & energetic for Lush I think.
Sheffield 89 the best time of my life😁
Love this stuff . I bought the album on cassette . ❤❤❤ Sydney Australia 🦘🦘🦘 28/1/2024😮
Nice to see a complete collection came out.
I love The Darling Buds. Cool band.
Heard Crawdaddy at a record store. Had to buy a tape, played ti over and over till it died. Have all three cd s now. Play them often
I have this on 7" single... Fantastic - I was the ONLY person at school to ever have heard of them....
I bought it on 12 inch in 1989 ;)
Hard hitting power pop at its finest.🙂
Perfect power pop
insanely gorgeous ❤
I got the album when it came out
Great band, and very cool indie pop, effortlessly good
Should have been bigger
Yes.
All the best things can never be bigger cos only the crap and undeserving are allowed to be.
The Darling Buds and The Primitives were legit good bands. It was dumb from the media to overlook them just because of the blond female singers.
lovely and pop said are my 2 favourite 80s albums as a whole, no skips on either
LOVE THE ORIGINAL DARLING BUDS!! the dj

Long Day in the Universe was a great track too!
This should have been a hit, but a twist of fate (a plane crash at East Midlands Airport) saw the song get removed from the Radio 1playlist.

that crap happened with living in a box 'gatecrashing and a football ground incident that had nothing to do with song.
Shudder to think what songs never make the airwaves today in this woke obsessed world where everyone gets offended by everything.
this group and the primitives were an alternative.
Reminds me of Lush
I have to agree.. there are many similarities,,
Who?
On the money - Lush's first nationwide tour was opening for The Darling Buds!

Are the Darling Buds and The Primitives different bands?
Yes😊
@@harkyo Thanks for clarifying- the different names is confusing.
WOULD THE TWO NAMES NOT TELL YOU THEY ARE TWO BANDS ? THEIR WAS OLSO ANOTHER BAND CALLED TRANSVISIONS VAMP WHICH ARE SIMILAR TO THEM 👍🏻 😎
@@iandarragh6437 No need for capital letters. There not their.
