Holy... it's actually Phil Vischer!!!! Mr. Vischer, I'm happy you enjoyed this fan project!
Thank you! The whole team is thrilled that you have seen it. Thank you for being an incredible inspiration!
Thank you so much!!
This is definitely a “I remembered it always looking like this” moment
Not for me. I remember 90s VeggieTales having a very distinct style of animation. They emphasized key frames and squashing and stretching the characters for comedic effect.
The animators instead chose to replicate the less exaggerated and, imo, boring modern style.
It is still impressive how well they were able to do it.
@@mrbanks456 you really woke up and chose to spit nonsense
@@jokerman9623 *facts but yeah

@@reneerules567 I didn't even go hard on em bro. I said it was impressive. I'm gonna say my opinion no matter what.
Veggietales: **doesn't reanimate old episodes**
The fans: fine we'll do it ourselves.
Phil Vischer tried to reanimate the third VeggieTales episode: Are You My Neighbor? (including The Hairbrush Song) in 1998 because there were some things in the OG episode he wanted to update. But with how much work he had towards making Jonah, the project was dropped. The only evidence of it ever happening was the audio of the opening countertop sequence which can be found in certain easter eggs and behind the scenes of VeggieTales DVD's.
@@maxmostiler8181That episode lives in my head rent free
The episode, The Toy that Saved Christmas was mostly reanimated in 1997/98, and a portion of Are You My Neighbour was reanimated that same year.
@@maxmostiler8181do you have any link to the countertops being redone?

This is what your remakes should be.
I agree, and this would help get their act together
Even though not all their remakes are bad, I definitely agree.
@@Sorcerer-SMC True
@@thefantasticretroreviewer3941 The only ones I consider good in my opinion are Jungle Book 2016 and Aladdin 2019, which unlike most other LARs, actually try to do their own thing rather than being a carbon copy of the original despite their obvious flaws.
And while these two don’t entirely count as LARs, Christopher Robin and Mary Poppins Returns were really good IMO too.

5:18 I love how they make this bit 10 times funnier by having Larry look backwards and then when Bob says “over here, Larry”, Larry turns and is still looking the wrong way.
DIDNT ASK + MY CONTENT IS BETTER!
UTTP IS WAY BETTER THAN VEGGIETALES! ........,..
Amazing project but idk how nobody is talking about how the signs like the exit signs are in babylonian writing. That extra bit of detail is crazy
Thank you for Identifying it! I saw the non-English writing and knew I recognized those characters from somewhere but could not place it!
@@Swaggless cunieform
Being a partial enthusiast of the ancient world, I recognized the Ugaritic, as well, dude!
@Swaggless That is Ugaritic/Akkadian. Gourd informed me that he simply used characters from the alphabet for all of the stuff he placed the Ugaritic on. A little sad that he didn't know the actual language, but it is still cool that Gourd used the language in the first place.
@@ALVINHUNGUTTP are you a bot or… because you only have like one vid
It wasn’t just the graphical and design upgrades, it was the little things. Subtle eye movement and expressions that add a level of depth to the characters I wasn’t prepared for.
Like Bob "grabbing" Larry's collar during the Silly Song segment.
Laura's expression while singing the intro song completely recontextualizes her mood from being generically happy to where she clearly doesn't enjoy her job lol.
@@timothyfinch7295 Same for literally all of the other workers during the song. I also like how when Mr. Nezzar announcing they've sold their two millionth chocolate bunny, instead of being excited like in the original version, they're all like "whatever", since they're basically working in a sweatshop and thus have no reason to care about it's success with their dogshit working conditions.
You know when I saw “Veggietales Reanimated,” I was expecting a collab. Not a remake of the episode. My word, this is PHENOMENAL.
17:36 I love that small detail of Larry thinking the tune itself is a bop, he's just REALLY uncomfortable about the content lol
Such a mood in much of contemporary music.
I've never identified with Larry more in my life 😂

A nice little touch is that Mr. Nezzer acts more of a Mafia Don Boss rather than a Corporate Migrate in this version. What with having Gangster-Esque Goons, The Conference Room being a Speakeasy, And him becoming a "Pimp called Nezzer" during his Bunny Song.
“Pimp called Nezzer” 😭😭😭
No doubt they took a good amount of inspiration from Esther, which fits quite well considering both take place in nearly the same location in the Bible.
@@Toonrick12AND being in the style of the early 2000s. Notice how Petunia is absent (save for the theme song in the Duke and the Great Pie War and
Sweetpea Beauty scenes)?
A lot of people were mad she wasn’t included, but she simply DIDN’T appear yet, and including her wouldn’t make much sense besides fan service. Goliath and the Scallions made sense since…they debuted around the same time as the original episode, and they are fitting villains.
It really gives me Roaring 20s musical vibes. The costuming, the score, the sets, the…choreography, for lack of a better term-you see what I’m saying.
Gotta say the whole things too, he legally changed his name to "A Pimp called Nezzer"
I like that Goliath is one of Mr. Nezzar's executives.
Dang..He get paid extra cash?😎
It makes sense. He's the only one who could drag Benny out
@@ALVINHUNGUTTP Didn't ask. Veggietales is way better than UTTP content.
It’s kind of funny considering the episode AFTER Rack, Shack and Benny was Dave and the Giant Pickle in which Goliath made his first appearance. So in this one, he made an earlier appearance before his debut episode.
I also like that Jimmy and Jerry, Archibald and the Scallions are Mr Nezzer’s chocolate factory employees. I also can see Lenny Carrot (during the part where everyone eats the bunnies and also the ceremony scene) and Tom Grape (next to Jimmy during “Stand Up”) briefly along with Mr Beet (during “Good Morning George”) if you take a close look.
As a kid when Nezzer said “Guards seize them!” I used to think he said “GOD SEES THEM!” As if he’s saying he is literally doing God’s work, thus adding to how messed up burning them is
I misheard that too in my childhood.
Same here

Omg same!!!
A project that lived up to the legacy of a man who catered to children with teachers from the produce aisle to love our creator of the universe.
"Always remember: God made you special, and he loves you very much."
Hearing that line again after so many years made me cry. I don't even consider myself a christian as an adult but seeing this, I genuinely believe that watching VeggieTales as a kid instilled a lot of really good and important moral values in me and I'll always be grateful.
@@comicdans7732 same. Shed a tear at the "when you think of me I'll be with you" song.
@@bens5859 Yeah I dunno if it's nostalgia or if it really just genuinely hits that hard but man... It's really taking us back to childhood here.
@@comicdans7732 yeah I think it's somewhere in the middle. It wouldn't be as emotional if I hadn't seen it over and over as a kid. And yet, even if I'd never seen veggietales before, I think I'd be touched by that little song. I imagine our parents felt similarly when they first heard it.
Another thing I'm realizing about veggietales (rack shack Benny and the Esther episode in particular) - I think they had a big role in instilling virtues of integrity and resistance to "dumb fads." Not just fashion trends etc but also primed me to more easily identify mob-mentality, view it with a more skeptical eye.
this has been valuable in so many areas of my life, ranging from career/fiscal calculations to political discourse to personal authenticity. (Ironically it might've contributed to my current stance on US Christianity, which is "this needs fixing," at best.)

18:56 madam blueberry reading The Jungle by Onion Sinclair is the best Easter egg I have ever seen😂😂
Hah! Never saw that before.
@ALVINHUNGUTTP Didn't ask + self promotion on someone else's video without permission is cringe
29:33 I honestly _really_ appreciate the changes made to Mr. Nezzer in this sequence. It makes him seem like much less of a mad man when in the original he comes across more like a cackling villain who was rooting for their deaths, then just has a complete 180 turn in the end. But here, he's quiet, he almost seems disappointed as he goes to walk away from the furnace without a word. Then when the light of God beams down to protect them, he looks _terrified,_ as if he knows he just upset the big guy in the sky and it gives him something of a reality check, his expressions when they come out of the furnace being filled with fear, apprehension, and deep regret. It really helps sell Mr. Nezzer's turn much better than the original in my book, and I really like it.
Overall this is fantastic work remastering the original, but I felt the need to praise this part specifically.
On top of that, imo, there's honestly something colder about Nezzer walking away without a word instead of his mad cackle. It makes him come off as apathetic, like he's reached the absolute lowest he could get as a person (just in time for God to give him the wake-up call he needed).
@@BenjaMage Exactly. It's honestly a really nice touch to make him seem less maniacal and more lost, making the line he says about forgetting everything his mother taught him more poignant.

29:34 The detail of replacing Nezzer’s evil laughter with a remorseless stare before turning away is SUCH a good addition; it arguably makes him feel even more sadistic than his OG counterpart. A little goes a long way.
Awesome work, guys; this turned out amazingly! Well worth the wait!
Not to mention that that scene scared the heck out of me as a kid and it’s why I never liked this episode growing up! So hats off to the dudes behind this video for that redaction
That actually makes a lot more sense
@@user-jp7vk3mn1l Because he's a boss and all of this is just for businees.
I was waiting for the laugh, and then I understood: it’s JUST like his role in Lyle the Kindly Viking! Both instances of Mr. Nezzer being remorseless until the very end!
OK it's been a while since I've seen the original so don't be bothered if I ask this: he was originally supposed to laugh?
I’m floored.
Where do I even start with this?
Like, talk about an incredibly satisfying reimagining of the original film, shot-for-shot, my gosh..
The subtlety in expressiveness, the pacing, the new life breathed into the characters (even background characters!), the friggin’ SCORE man! It’s like, so distinctively Gourd, and yet still stays gauged in the headspace of, yea, this is totally how classic era Big Idea would have done it. Like, it isn’t just an homage, It’s practically a spiritual successor.
I found myself backing up and rewatching frames, geeking out about all the references, recognizing all the soundbites and where they originated, all the nods to past episodes. But also, being legitimately struck by how even the TONE of the scenes, by way of tweaking a characters expression from the original, or rearranging the shots, or reassigning set pieces, or even sometimes overtly NOT following the format of the original storyboard to elicit a different mood entirely.
I think that might have been what I enjoyed most about this; I’m watching a practically shot-for-shot remake of ‘Rack, Shack and Benny’, and yet, this is still very much NOT ‘Rack, Shack and Benny’. It didn’t need to be, and you can tell it didn’t really want to be either. Y’all just leaned into that! I found that very cool and very endearing.
Gourd, dude, this was really something special. You deserve all of the incredible feedback, and I am legitimately, deeply impressed. Same goes for 321Blender, and Crystal, and WoopDoo, and Dark Lord, and well, everybody!

I find it interesting this version seems to set the story in ancient Babylon (there is the anachronistic factory, use of chocolate, and hover trucks, but VeggieTales has always had fun with things like that)
In the original, the use of desert may have just been reuse of assets, but this one not only expands things, it kind of explains how a company president can execute his own workers and get away with it
The story is set in ancient Babylon because the original biblical story was set in ancient Babylon during the exile. Interestingly it’s mentioned Daniel was friends with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
Thank you Gourd for giving me the opportunity to work on this absolute love letter the past couple years!! Everyone did a phenomenal job!

30:07 I love the realization on Nezzer's face, he KNOWS who is in there. He doesn't turn back until the light goes away, thinking he's about to be struck down. But then again, our Lord is still a forgiving God. Just like Jonah, He's the God of second chances.
It is a well done moment, I gotta admit
True. But I don't think Jonah really got the whole message.

Dude attempts triple homicide.
Says: "Woops, my bad."
And fam be like: "No prob, bro."
Seems legit.
This is so well animated! I love how the factory is a lot more "realistic". And it also makes sense why the characters have to work in it, since in the original it seemed the only non-automated processes were quality control and delivery
Yeah, and in the original version of the episode, the part where Benny (Larry the Cucumber) sings the line “We used to be so happy.” I was like “But you all seem happy when you sang that, so it kinda takes the realism out of the environment.” But here when he sang that line, even with Rack and Shack sang “We used to laugh and run” “But there’s no time to play ‘cause we gotta work all day and it isn’t very fun”, even when it comes to the animation, they sound very miserable, which fits the vibe of the moment. I was like “YES!! Now, I’m invested! They should feel miserable, as mean and cruel as it sounds, but when they sound so annoyed and miserable, they should have that same energy and not be happy about it”. Does that make sense?
This was incredible work. Loved the expanded like the set design, background characters, and visual gags. And that new score! Having Phil's approval was the cherry on top. Bravo to everyone involved. This was really special to watch.
What a treat
The jazz guitarist pea chuting out of the floor in Mr. Nezzer's office on cue was so much funnier than it had any right to be.
I'm hard pressed to find things to celebrate here that haven't already been said a bunch of times over by everyone else, but this is just fantastic. It goes so far beyond anything I expected, and is easily one of the highest quality fan projects I've ever seen. Bravo to the whole team, bravo all around.
I like the fact that it has some biblical elements here and there. Like the pylons resemble the temple pillars and some Babylonian letterings on the boxes and the exit signs, even with the sun covers on the worker’s hats. Great attention to detail.
Not a reference to the Babylonian Empire, but I like how Nezzer's secretary (played by Madame Blueberry) is reading "Onion Sinclair's" _The Jungle._
Not to mention the bunny statue was gold like the Bible says, rather than silver in the original.
The fact that people who aren't Christians anymore still like the show should tell you how good these people were at storytelling. I wish they taught other things too like math or history or something...
This much how community cares and loves about Veggietales, and I am proud of that.
Hopefully this could be the first stepping stone of completely re-mastering the entirety 90s-2000s VeggieTales in the new style. Would love to see that go down
Same here, dude! I hope they do that!

Same! I stumbled on this by accident and it's incredible
I would actually pay money for that.
Can I put in a vote for Josh and the Big Wall next?
Putting in Jimmy, Jerry, Mr Lunt, the Peas and Laura and Lenny in the theme song was a genius idea!
Without a doubt the best VeggieTales thing to come out in the last decade.
From the animation, music, recontextualizing bits to make the story flow better/make characters thematically stronger, to the freaking foley, everything here was nothing less than amazing.
It's clear everyone on the team wanted this to be the best it could be and it paid off immensely. You all deserve to proud of this. Great job

No one (from what I'm seeing) is talking about the BRILLIANCE of having 19:14 scene change from a huge outside auditorium to an inside break-room type setting! I understand having it outside, to show the sheer scale of the bunny, but moving it inside makes it a LOT easier for Lundt to pick out the few workers that aren't following the norm. Plus having the guards bring them to the front, rather than them being allowed to stay in the back of the pack, makes it feel like Nezzer has much more control of the situation (with the added LOVE of the 'guards' being more executives that you've already seen in the previous scene). This legit looks better than the recent VeggieTales episodes.
Also, I noticed some references throughout RS&B Remolded:
1- a pea falling from Laura’s delivery car is a reference to the same pea falling from the tree house in “Madam Blueberry”, and his scream sounds just like the one from “King George and the Ducky”.
2- in the Dance of the Cucumber silly song, Junior and his dad were wearing exactly the same shirts as they did in “Jonah: a VeggieTales movie”.
3- speaking of that movie, towards the end of this remolded episode, another pea was shown exiting the elevator, and that pea is one of them from Ninevah and also spoke exactly like Khalil the Caterpillar, also another reference from the movie.
4- a few of those standing posts in the middle of the factory, though with the colors altered, are exactly the same ones from King Darius’ castle in “Daniel and the Lion’s Den”.
5- the back of Mr. Nezzer’s office looks almost identical to King Xerxes’ throne room from “Esther the girl who became Queen”.
6- Blind Lemon from “Duke and the Great Pie War” was also featured as a music player for Mr. Nezzer and his songs.
7- when Rack Shack & Benny stepped out of the furnace, a piece of music score is played in background with them doing so, and that piece of music score is exactly the same one as played in the end of “Larry-Boy & The Fib From Outer Space”.
Phew! That was a lot of references to disclose! Lol
Every bit of this is outstanding, but I especially want to point out the audio. It sounds super clean, not a hint of the original graininess.
The added echo when characters talk in the factory and the background noise were fantastic additions.
Do I even need to mention the music? The renditions of the original songs are so amazingly done, and the usage of motifs in the background music was perfectly done throughout. As someone who’s learned to appreciate good sound design, this is a treat for the ears.
Seriously, this is phenomenal work. A fantastic “testament” to the best Christian media series ever made.
As someone who drifted away from faith in my adult years, my appreciation for Veggietales as a kids’ show has stayed strong, and I see just as much passion in this as I do the early VT episodes. You guys did a wonderful job.
This is just superb. What sets this apart is the incredible animation that evokes the Maya era of VeggieTales (circa 2000s) which is the era I grew up watching. Thank you so much to everyone who made this happen. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The amount of added details in this! The background instrumentals that give this a much needed cinematic feel, the added in pauses like when the boys get dropped into the furnace! Mr. Nezzer doesn't even do his maniacal laugh at their demise! He just walks away like he just threw out the trash, that was so much more chilling! I just... Can hardly even begin to speak about how much love and care was put into this! By far my favorite detail is Shack's cute little dance at 31:29 🥰😍 He puts so much *SWAG* into it, just adore it!
As a guy who grew up with Veggietales as a child. I was amazed by this fantastic remake of one of the best classic episodes. The remake music adds more depth into the tone to make it more engaging. I also found the animation fantastic, it resembles the 2000s style but with more depth and details with the characters designs and the background elements too. Almost like it was made for a theatrical movie. I really love the fact that the factory diversifies its cast where it’s more than just peas as the employees. If Phil Vischer himself saw this remake, he would be proud!

The fact that these guys went the extra mile to recreate the entire episode, and even remaster the soundtrack is something else, man!
EVERYONE STAY CALM-
(This looks AMAZING. Everyone involved is seriously beyond talented. Can't wait to see the full thing!)
We are Almost there, but proves the precure fandom cant do this (PC Fandom Uses MMD)
I like that the 1993-2009 vocals are mixed with the 2010-2015 vocals in the theme song
10:57 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'M SOLD! I KNOW that voice clip! That's from the second blooper of the Jonah movie VeggieTales did!!!!
Indeed it was.
Take 1:
"Well, nobody got hurt."
Porcupine needle gets his hat
"Ah! Hey! I need that."
"Sorry!"
Take 2:
"Well, nobody got hurt."
Porcupine needle gets the cameraman somewhere
"YOW!"
Camera falls over
"Sorry!"
Take 3:
"Well, nobody got hurt."
Two porcupine needles hit the van before the vehicle suddenly falls over onto Bob
"(muffled) Hey! Somebody! Help me!"
"Alright! One more time!"
I sent this vid to my mom without any context and she watched it in full. Now it has been years since she saw the original Rack Shack and Benny back when she showed it to her Sunday School class (during the era of VHS and TVs on rolling carts) and she was blown away when I told her afterwards this that this is a completely fan-made creation.
I went into this critically as both an animator and someone with a special interest in Veggietales who's watched the original episode probably a hundred times and have it memorized down to the motions the characters make. This is SO good. I loved the little and big changes you made, from the style of the setting and design to re-timing some of the jokes w/ dialogue. This is absolutely incredible and honestly I think this is closer to what this episode would have been if it were made in 2024 instead of 1995 (which I guess is what it is, but I mean like..... with the OG team and stuff). You guys must have worked so hard on this and it paid off spectacularly!!!
SO thankful I got to sing for this!!!! Im a singin veggietale childhood dream come true😭😭😭😭😭 Thank u gourd and all the other talented fans who worked on this!!!!
I'm soo glad of you!!!
@@StellarAuraMegaLatias Thanks!!!
Congratulations!!!
Woah. The furnace scene has like 20x more menace in what was already a pretty dark moment for a kids show. Making the cart dropping a deliberate choice and not an accident (like in the original where Laura unplugs the machine but the pin just falls out anyway) contributes to that massivley, along with removing Nezzar's evil laugh and replacing it with a cold hard stare. Well done!
I was not expecting to see a Veggietales fan remake today, but here I am. This is incredible! I’m sure this was incredibly difficult to put together, but it absolutely pays off lmao
MOJANG BOY THAT IS FUN
Bob singing the intro for us one last time got me pretty emotional. The soundtrack here was incredible, and the animation was perfect. Great job, everyone!
So, you not only reanimated, but also rescored the entire thing! That takes dedication! Glad to see one of the original Veggietale creators like your fan project as well! We'll be watching your careers with great interest!
when i think of a VeggieTales PASSION project, this is exactly what I think of. You captured exactly what a fan of this amazing franchise would want to see perfectly, from the Take 38 remake, the AMAZING remake of the theme song and Silly Song, the score that I prayyy Kurt Heineke gets to hear, the movements, animation, lighting, sound design, and all that is so great about this iconic franchise and episode. The score that played throughout , was so different, but so full, and so VeggieTales at the same time. This project showed an understanding of VeggieTales to a T, which only makes Phil Vischer’s mark of approval, that much more satisfying to see! Perfect episode choice, and perfect but original remake, excellent work!!! Ohhhhh what you all could do to “Fib from Outer Space”😮💨. But please rest now, enjoy the fruits of your labors, and take time for yourselves…but please make another one 😂. Congrats to this amazing team for this amazing re-mold! Definitely a constant rewatch!
just going back after my third rewatch, and noticing the small details that make this project so good, like in the theme song, as it goes on we see Larry get progressively more and more tired as the song goes on, bro has been doing this for 30 years, he’s tired 😂. But saving all the rambling about the references, foreshadowing, the sound design of the countertop scenes, the new altered voice direction of the whole film, and just…long story short: you guys cooked.
Kurt has indeed heard it! Phil shared this on Facebook and he praised the score!
This is crazy! I'm still wrapping my mind around how a group of people can come together to create this! HUGE props!!!!
I love the outfit designs and the general reskin of the setting, the mafia vibe was a really fun touch 😄
This was the first VeggieTales episode I had watched in my infancy (got many nightmares from this episode for years too, lol!!!), and I'm ready to watch a fresh new remake of this episode with more characters in it! I'm EXCITED!!!!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
You had nightmares? I wanna know about because I had MLP nightmares.
@@StellarAuraMegaLatias The first scene in the countertop intro with Bob alone and also the first scene of the Carrot Guards scared me when I was little. But not anymore.
@@Mr.NebbaOldVTFanatic It kinda reminds me of Indigo Tomato.
@@JaniceEmmons1990present That's what I call it. A reference to the Indigo Man from The Graveyard Book.
My favorite background character you added was the Chill Executive. For the sake of the comment, I'll call her "Chill" . We first see her at 14:49. Chewing gum. She pops her bubble in benny's ear as she continues to listen in. It is a subtle way to get the sharp unfeeling mood of the Board compared to the ambitious Nezzar
15:17 Benny Blocks the view of the Chill Executive behind him and they have a brief interaction.
Benny: "That's... the bunny?"
Chill: "Hey, Stretch, do you mind?"
Benny: "Oh! uh... Sorry. "
Chill: "Thank you."
32:37 Chill makes an appearance in the back still keeping in character. Cool as a benny (Cucumber) but noticeably loosened up more. Almost like her expression reads: "Finally, a little light in this place."
Other note: It wouldn't feel right having chill antagonize the protagonists directly like seize them, chase Laura, etc. But the indirect ways with Benny were perfect!
Chill was the most laid back of the board, always observing and conserving energy. Her contributions to the story were indirect, but it felt natural, like someone under the rule of a king making their own conclusions but kind of like an Anti-Laura, playing it cool, and spectating. Almost like she got enough information about Benny and the rest to make some interactions. If Cell phones were a thing in this story, 100% she'd be texting. LOL.
Just one example of how layered a background character can be! Well done Gourd!
Woah great observation!!!
I love how yall are really dedicating it for the creators, the industry has ruined them so much and they deserve all the credit for creating an amazing show for our childhood and showing us about God♥️
This is one of the most incredible feats of animation I’ve ever seen from a fan community, hands down. The remastered music and new ambient background tracks. The quality of how well it matches the VeggieTales style. The use of all the side characters. The seamless integration of old voicelines and new background actors. Nezzer’s outfit in the Bunny Song. The sheer feeling of seeing George updated in the newer animation. The new visual and sound based gags (that pea yelling is like the Wilhelm Scream of the Veggeiverse) and so much more just bring this together so perfectly. Bravo, to everyone involved in this project. Bravo.
This is a better remaster than most major film studios
Yes.
From the beginning I noticed the clear differences between this remastered version and the original; I grew up on the OG VeggieTales and know this particular episode extremely well; it was one of my favorites as a child and as an adult. Love all the small details added, the subtle shifts in each character’s posture and eye gaze as animation changes may seem small, but truly help the story seem more real and help fleshes out the characters even more than the original animation did. The sequence where Larry has on the oven mitt hat & then falls into the sink was hilarious, and all the changes made are brilliant in that bit and help the scene flow even better than the OG did. I almost cried seeing George fully animated as perfectly as he is here; he was one of my favorite characters in the show and I always loved when he showed up. I have been wanting to see something like this with him fully updated for years. Beautiful work! Also, the chocolate buns actually look edible here, which is exactly how I imagined them looking as a kid. The gorgeous remastered music legit actually brought tears to my eyes; the opening song is AMAZING as it is but HERE it SHINES! With the interjected and changed sound effects, redone musical score behind the beefed up and newly stacked vocals, and slight changes to the end of the song’s notation (adding notes to make it end with a bang) was truly awe-inspiring and made me tear up.
Last note before I go back to watch this again - your animation team outdid themselves. Really. Oh my good golly is this truly a masterpiece! This is exactly how I always wanted the animation to look! I understood even as a kid that they just didn’t have the programming ready yet for something like this… and you guys did it. You took something old and amazing already, and with some small tweaks and changes made it PERFECT. I would legitimately pay to have you guys do this to all the OG episodes; I am so appreciative of all the work that clearly went into remastering such a classic. Perfect job, you guys, gals, non-binary pals, & everyone else! You all clearly had passion for this project, and it shows. Great job!
And, as VeggieTales always reminds us, “Remember: God made you special, and He loves you very much. Goodbye!”
Wow, I just love all the little details put into this. The textures on the models, the updated outfits, THEY EVEN USED CUNEIFORM ON THE LABELS TO MATCH THE TIME PERIOD.
"Mr. Nezzer's not a bad man, he’s just a bit confused" Bro tried to fire-roast his overworked and underpaid employees for not worshiping his corporate brand.
8:19 I was confused and why this shot was included, but then I realized that we were following the defective bunny to show what would happen. It's a little bit of foreshadowing that set up the later conflict.
I believe this is something that the original episode needed that you guys included. It was so subtle yet so effective ❤
I swear they showed the defects going into the furnace in the OG
They did, where a bow ended up on a bunny's nose instead of their neck. However, here there's also some fantastic foreshadowing at 14:32 that I don't remember being in the original.
It goes without saying that this is beyond amazing i legit wanna cry from how good it looks and honestly reminds me of the fact that the bunny song is still stuck in my head rent free after all these years
30:00 See? Yeshua IS in the old testament!
Well... Wasn't expecting to see you here, Max. Hi lol
goddamn i wasnt expecting hotdiggedydemon in the comments of a veggietales fan animation lol
Max, is Goofball seeing anyone new these days?
Omg its Mr.Max!
This was a surprise!
Finished my second full watch, here for another. Wow. Most incredible piece of content I’ve ever seen come out of this fandom; easily the best thing I’ve seen all year. Seriously, I would venture to say Gourd is a genius. The direction was incredible- he had a clear vision, stuck it through and made a timeless piece of art. I was lucky enough to see it in progress over the past year or two- the boards, the concept art- even the unfinished animation was all amazing!!! And now it’s complete.
Shoutout to all the animators who poured time into this project. The music is beyond stellar, can’t wait to listen back to them again. My favorite moments were Junior’s dance in ‘Stand’ and the photo gag in the silly song. Honored to have been able to do the Percy/other vegetable moaning noises. Seeing my name in the credits made my heart jump.
I could type another paragraph about all the foreshadowing, references and details, but I won’t. Love you all, this is incredible. Thank you Gourd. Your effort is unmatched.
Yea, I can make Random Fan-stuff, but not like them😊
34:57
I know those grunting noises! They're from the Larryboy PS2 game and it's when Larryboy stretches his plunger ears to fling across the field.
It's such a small thing to notice, but the detail with Larry's sousaphone and the correct valves being pushed at the beginning was such a nice touch!
As somebody who’s seen the OG so many times, I find it fascinating about what was changed, added, and cut.
I’ll try and keep this rambling brief because I will be here so long if I do so but this is easily one of the best projects to come out this year. There’s so much this project does to not only actively better the original but also help recontextualize certain characters and moments. The whole Think of Me scene comes to mind as an example as it makes me cry so hard. That was made far more tender and just adorable thanks to not only the new arrangement but the setting/ new character animations/costumes. Speaking of which, those and everything with the timing/ restructuring of everything make me so happy as it makes every scene all the more special, it breathes live into previously flat or standard moments. The score is no joke one of the best I’ve heard from a fan project Id say ever, all the leitmotifs really help tie it all together. In general the sound editing was ON POINT. Everyone involved with this did a fantastic job and it absolutely shows. This feels like such a love letter to not only the original episode but to the franchise as a whole. Will be endlessly rewatching this for years to come!!
Yay I’m not the only one who made a ridiculously long comment!! ✊
(Mine was even longer though 😂)
We've come full circle. VeggieTales started with a small makeshift team with Phil and Mike at the wheel.
Now the people who grew up watching it all are repeating the process.
I miss Bob's defensive/offended expressions during the "I'm standing" bit. But that aside, BEAUTIFUL job done!
I really, REALLY love how you guys gave the whole thing a fresh mid 2000's look to the whole episode, with a fuller soundtrack, background details, extras etc, My only real complaint is that I feel like some of the eye expressions were lost in the transition (or rather transformation), especially with Bob. The whole "Sitting vs Standing" gag doesn't land so well without Bob's more cartoony movement and expressions. The tabletop scenes also feel more like Bob is more concerned with Larry than being annoyed at him. That said you did make up some of it with how Bob acted in the Silly Song portion; whoever animated the part with Bob collar-grabbing Larry without hands deserves... Well they did it for free, so I can't say a raise, but you get the idea.
Hopefully you guys see this comment before this video gets COPPAed. But I wish to congratulate everyone involved on a job well done and advice on if you decide to make another remake in the future. (Dave and the Giant Pickle maybe?)
No,they are not going to do another reanimated VeggieTales project
@@johnbostic1226 ..as of yet.
I actually thought the more subtle movements in the "sitting vs standing" gag made it funnier
Plus, I get why Bob's more concerned about Larry wearing an oven mit that covers his eyes. Dude could hardly see in front of him.
I love this rework! The visuals, the new outfit designs, the new music arrangements, and the extra characters such as Jimmy, Jerry, Archibald, Madame Blueberry, Scooter etc.! Since the team of Animaniacs fans already an animated music video of The Hello Song, they should make music video versions of Several Drops of Rain and I’ll Take an Island.
This is absolutely spectacular. I’ll be meeting Mike Nawrocki at a convention two months from now, I’ll make sure he sees this video!!
He already has! Both him and Phil Vischer, the original creator!
@@vegetablesabound5141 Oh wow! Is there a video of them reacting to it, or did they just make word on the video? I’d love to know
@@gunn9887 No reaction video sadly but Phil left a comment on this video and made a post about it on twitter!
Retro Veggietales was ahead of its time. The memes, the humor, and it wasnt hamfisted with the message.
And the low budget aesthetic made it look authentic
Okay... seriously. This was the best fan project I've ever seen... period. That furnace scene sent chills up my spine and was honestly the best animated scene I've seen ever. Thank you so much to the Remolded team. And remember everyone, God made you special and he loves you very much...
Clearly, someone watched Toy Story 3 and got some inspiration from that.
This was a lot better than any fan project has any business being, bravo 👏
So the first time I watched this, I was kinda surprised that they removed Laura's second intervening and Nezzer's laugh in the climax. But having now rewatched it a couple times, I think I understand why, and I think both were actually good changes.
For the first one, Laura intervening a second time before Rack, Shack and Benny are dropped into the furnace does kinda put a pause on the building tension of the moment, as opposed to it continuously building like it does in this version. But on top of that, by making Laura unable to intervene again, it really leans into the idea that in that moment, God's their only hope, nothing else can save them at that point.
And as for Nezzer's laugh, I think removing it changes Nezzer and his redemption in a really notable way. As someone else brought up here in the comments, in the original he comes across more like a cartoonishly evil villain with how he cackles at killing the boys, only for him to 180 once God saves them. In this version, him walking off without a word or even much of an expression makes him come across as colder, but not in a cartoonishly evil way. It paints him as truly apathetic, like he's become so numb as a person that killing children leaves no impact on him (added on by his unchanging expression earlier when he's talking about viewing those who don't bow and sing as "bad bunnies"; he treats the idea of killing someone like it's nothing notable), and it makes God's intervening hit all the harder. God's given Nezzer the wake-up call he really needs, and you can see from his expressions both during and after the shining part that what he's been doing has finally really clicked with him, which makes his regretful apology that much more poignant.
16:22 this scene always makes me laugh because of what Big idea studios did. The original lyric was “I don’t love my mom or my dad just the bunny,” but it had to be changed because angry parents wrote to Big Idea about their kids singing it all the time and demanded a change. Of course, they listened and when they rereleased the DVD version it became, “I don’t love my soup or my bread, just the bunny.”
To be fair though, parents wouldn’t have had a problem with the original song if their kids didn’t sing it in public places. It’d be one thing if my kid were singing it at home, but in a public place like a grocery store as one of the parents’ kid did or heck, even in school or church, it’s a much more serious issue.
Actually, the new lyrics were first used back in 1998 when it was re-released on VHS by Lyrick Studios.
@@LucasBradleylpbproductions6 the more you know, I never knew that! I had a vhs where it sang the original lyric but didn’t know the 1998 versions changed it.
Another line that was changed for the same reason was "I won't eat no beans, and I won't eat tofu" which was originally "I won't go to church, and I won't go to school." This is why, in the original animation, the three protagonist's jaws fall to the floor in shock and disbelief when that line is said. Such a reaction would be considered a bit much with the revised line, but quite understandable with the original.
@@ryansmith1044 oh yeah I almost forgot about that. They changed it a lot didn’t they 😂
DUDE WHEN I SAW SILLY SONGS WITH LARRY APPEAR ON THE SCREEN I WAS SO HAPPY
