I’ve never seen so much away support in Rome. We were in the thousands 🏴! Great reception by all hosts in Rome and what a match day out! Disappointing result but Italy deserved to win and hopefully this strengthens the 6N further. The Stadio Olimpico full with 70k fans is something else!
Love you guys 🏴❤️🇮🇹 Don't be too disappointed. You played a great 6 nation, Italy is no longer the weak team it used to be. See you in Edinburgh next year! 😘
We are seeing another level of maturity with this Scottish Team, despite the loss in Rome. A brilliant match by two really good teams. I rate George Horne about Ali Price, his speed of delivery from the rucks, his support lines. I believe if George had been on the pitch with the DTH break in the second half, George would have kept his width from DTH rather than crossing behind DTH and negate any support. George would have been there to receive and score that try. So much good happening with this Scottish team Christie is another person to talk about, he was superb. So much competition from quality players, who would ever think Hamish Watson not being in the team and Hamish is playing well too.
Apart U20s, I can't why of all the negative comments I've been seeing from Scottish supporters : their team's campaign in 2024 6N was superb, Scotland definitely is a strong side with great players ( and Tuipolutu was off the game), a bright future ahead...
I totally agree with you. So much good happening with this team. Finn Russell's maturity is massive, he is starting to become the general on the international stage, not just club rugby. This has been long over due. George Best was a brilliantly talented foot baller, sadly not at the international level. I believe Finn Russell can be at both levels.
Scottish rugby is in real trouble. Townsend has achieved a lot but he’s taken the team as far as he can. There are much larger issues with Scottish rugby that need looking at urgently. Everything from the psychology of Scottish teams right through to the woeful development infrastructure. Scotland is in real danger of falling off the tier 1 nation map in the next 5-10yrs unless there is a real shift in the way the game is a played, managed and supported. If this team fail to capitalise on the talent they have then there are big questions going to be asked about what next.
We’ve embarrassed ourselves yet again. Italy were fantastic. We were dreadful. Not looking forward to the Ireland game at all. We are going to get mullered.
Goodness me, you must have been watching another game. Scotland 4 tries, Italy 3. Italy were brilliant, so was Scotland. Scotland played its best game of this 6 nations against a superb Italy team, that successfully, twice, exploited the space behind the Scottish three quarters for two tries. In reality that was the difference, oh yes and of course those Scottish penalties. Please don't talk these guys down.
@JamesRattray, no I watched the same game. The penalties, the errors, the clumsy mistakes, it was far from what I would call a good performance. I guess I have more emotion behind it because I had a little bit of fire in my belly about this year and it's looking like we will be finishing 4th or 5th after this Saturday. It's a hard pill to swallow as Scotland fan when you know this team is capable of much better Rugby. Again, I'm taking nothing away from Italy. They turned up, delivered and deserved the win and I'm made up for them winning something despite the crushing disappointment I have at the moment. I have done nothing but praise Italy for their performance on social media. It's been coming and they thoroughly deserved it, but I think I can be forgiven for feeling somewhat forlorn at our predicament.
@craigus1991 I too have been a rugby supporter for 50+ years. I have seen visiting teams in the professional era, put out their 2nd string players when it came to play Scotland. That is what Townsends inherited. The argument from the glass is half full detractors, is that the team is not consistent. We need to remember Scotland is one of the smallest nations in terms of player pool, it has just two professional teams and small supporter base too. No filling Murrayfield when Glasgow and Edinburgh plays as happens at Twickenham. I do believe this 6 Nations we are seeing further evolution of Scotland. We at last have a mature Finn Russell who is developing in his new role as Captain. He is a superb player, the question has always been can he deliver at international level, and be ranked amongst the true greats of rugby. Time will tell, but what I do know is this Scotland that is capable of overturning any team in the world. For me as a long term suffering supporter this is wonderful.
@@JamesRattray I take your points. I’m probably being a bit dramatic. However, we are going backwards in the world rankings. We were strongly in 5th place before the World Cup last year and now, during this six nations, we’ve began to drop even lower. To me, it’s looking pretty bleak for Scottish rugby’s future as our under 20’s are not looking great and our inconsistency is as prevalent as ever. I’ve done nothing but back Scotland for years and fought their corner as they’ve gotten that much better, and they have, but after this competition I just feel exhausted. Too much talk and not enough results. It’s really frustrating. But, again, taking nothing away from Italy, they were outstanding on Saturday and we should be giving them credit rather giving Scotland flack. I don’t want anyone to diminish their performance and result because they absolutely deserved the win. I’m not confident for Saturday. I think we will bottle it in the last 20-30 minutes of the game. Ireland are just too good, despite their loss to England.
@@craigus1991 Scotland's ranking as a result of a World Cup, messed up by World Rugby, when all the top teams were busy knocking each other out, is hardly right. England finished 3rd!! If it had been a true world cup this mess up would never have happened. This defeat is Scotland's 1st defeat in the 6 Nations if you put up their win against France that is not a win, because of the massive bungling by the officials. I feel very sorry for the under 20s, they are taking a real hammering from everyone. They are the best crop Scotland has to offer, I believe (I read the SRU admitted that they had let them down during Covid). How many players do you need each year to step up to the national team from the under 20s? What is the playing life of a top rugby players these days? Up to 20 years. You don't need many under 20s to make it through. I don't know if you watched the under 20s game against Italy I did. Scotland in the first half played really well. Sadly the commentary team got to me, so I didn't watch the final 20 minutes. I take my hat off to these young guys, it is just a game and it's so important we all remember this. Let's start by being honest about Saturday's game. Ireland are the most consistent team in the world over the last few years, putting aside that mess called a World Cup. They are playing at home. They are massive favourites rightly. I for one am, really looking forward to the challenge facing Scotland to see if they can find away through them. I believe using terms such as 'bottle it' is not helpful. I am 100% behind these players, the best group of players that Scotland have had in the professional era. Thank you for exchanging your views, I totally respect what you are saying. But I have a glass is half full perspective on life. Best wishes.
Why are Scottish supporters so negative, whether it is football, curling or .... and rugby. Goodness me, its a game and these guys have stepped up to deliver the best game of the 6 Nations against a superb Italy.
Funny how last week, England were doing Scotland a favour by beating Ireland, now Scotland are doing England the favour if they beat Ireland. Come on Scotland, do it for your auld friends the English boys! 😂
@@Movies-ji9gw Yes he failed Scotland got off to a flyer then threw it away. Townsend is the manager and he's failed to get this Scotland team to play for 80 mins they have consistently thrown away good leads. The buck stops with him.
@@paulwilson2651 Townsend is the most successful coach Scotland has ever had. This was a poor performance but it's down to the players. The coaches' game plan wasn't to knock the ball on, get caught offside or get physically dominated at the breakdown = which was where Scotland lost the game. If you're going to question the environment he's created, Finn's probably the best example. He's gone from a prima donna into a potential Lions captain under Townsend.
As a neutral, i honestly thought scotland were amazing saturday, but italy were just better. Only real fuckup that comes to mind is one of your south africans causing obstruction leading to no try. Really wouldnt say they threw it away especially with how it ended

Townsend is already a great. You are forgetting how far this team has come with sell out stadiums and an amazing brand of rugby to watch. 6th in the WR with only two pro teams is not to be sniffed at. The nurturing of non-home grown talent another plus. Scotland is what it is, for some reason when they have a bad game we should be world beaters, and it’s Townsends fault! No it isn’t.
