If you would tell us what the weight is when you weigh itty bitty, an average size lamb, & a king Kong size lamb, it would be so informative. You have had some tiny babies that are the size of a cat. Would be astonishing to learn how tiny they are & have the fight to live. You have had some good sized lambs in your nic u, that live for a couple of days & then they just go backwards for some mysterious reason. I have heard you say a sheep you are loading to ship weights 25 lbs. I am guessing those Very light weights were tiny at birth & never caught up. Would they have grown better if they were kept on milk longer Being so small bigger lambs may bully them off the nanny and never get a good start. I have been addicted to for about 4 - 5 years. SAW you get your 100,000 viewer certificate. My 9 year old twin grandsons love to watch you as soon as they come for a visit. Last July 4th, for my birthday, both boys made me cards covered in sheep for my birthday. My son & his wife gave me a card with sheep singing Happy Birthday when I opened the card.
I’m an old OB nurse and when I heard her it brought back some memories of my poor patients who had a large baby or one who wasn’t occipital anterior (face down) but baby’s head was face up. That’s a pushing sound that’s almost an unearthly sound. 😬

Sandi, you've said you record the details about the moms. Please remember to put in your records about the Good mama-ewe who lost her lamb early. She was one of the 3? that miscarried before "itty-bitty / lamb #1" was born. It was so sad how she kept asking where her lamb went. I know the ewes get at least one more chance, but a good mama vs one that just walks away, deserves consideration. Just my thought. Thanks & cograts for saving the big, big lamb.

Beautiful babies! The first time showing one of the lambing videos to the grandkids, granddaughter was in awe, grandson said Oh No and walked away.! Now he is just as anxious to watch too. Your interaction with both ewes and lambs is heartwarming. Not knowing anything about sheep except for what you've taught me, I can't help but believe creates a relationship between you and them and how "easy" it seems for you to approach a ewe who is lambing and accepting your help and not running for the hills. They trust you.
Yes. She is just amazing and the sheep know they can trust her in these strange times. I love the expression on the momma's face when they turn around and see that wiggling thing. Where did that come from... is it mine? Can I keep it? And then the stealers come... hihi. Momma doesn't like that... but Sandi gives them a little place to bond and get better. Yes, Sandi is a wonderful person.

Hey Sandi! Not sure if you know but they make silicone bottle protectors for smaller glass med bottles, like insulin. For the bigger bottles maybe a silicone sleeve that goes over smaller glass water bottles might fit and give you some extra protection for your important meds.
It's amazing that you are able to interact with the new lambs without the mothers getting upset. I guess that is because you work with all of them. Thanks for the video.

They are busy dreams but I wake up happy, remembering all the babies and families I took care of. Also…love all the sweaters on the lambs. Thanks everyone who sent them in. I need to learn to knit!
I would love to try. But I don't know how to begin. I know how to knit, but perhaps someone could send us the pattern of how it works. Would need to get everyone knitting for the lambies.... I was a nurse in ICU. But helped sometimes with the babies and kids on the children's floor. It wasn't my cup of tea though. Feeding 1 baby and hearing 3 crying and you can't stop them. And they were all sick, or in pain. (😱) I admire you for that. It made me almost crazy not to have at least another pair of hands.
@Science_is_Never_Settled watched every one of them. 😊 (I am a nurse in, ICU, so never around little babies. Couldn't do it either. Was 1 month at the children's hospital and I was all stressed out. How do you explain to a baby that it has to wait 5 minutes for its bottle as I was currently feeding another baby. And it wasn't 1 baby that cried but 3 or 4 or 5 aaaggggrrrr. It stressed me so. I even heard babies cry I'm my sleep. And as I raised 4 of myself I thought it would be a piece of cake... I have the most respect for nurses that work in NICU or children's hospitals. I wanted to specialize in NICU. I changed my mind that month and changed to geriatrics... 😊) 😉
I love seeing the little lambies, especially the ones with special features, i.e. freckles. Waiting for the lambies to get twiterpated and jumping around. Lol

Each day this season I feel so blessed by the Christmas spirit. It seems a funny place to find it in a barn during lambing, but you have brought it to me in such a sweet way Sandy and I thank you for it with tears in my eyes.

Yes, lambs have weird little 'overboots" when they are born. On some you can see them. They are white and have strange, soft fingers-shaped cartilage covering the bottom sharp edge of the hooves. They dry up and fall off in about the time it takes Mom to lick the lamb dry.
On glass bottles you can paint around the middle where you hold it. Use the liquid stuff for dipping tool handles in. It is quite thick, sticks to everything and drys fast. i had some left over from some small pliers that did not come coated. It does not keep well once opened so I have used the extra to paint my apple cider vinegar which only comes in glass bottles and you add to drinking water for chickens. The fake stuff comes in plastic but the stuff i need only in glass and bottles just a little big for my hands which are often wet when playing with water. Mark most likely has some, it would not hurt to put a 1 inch grip line on the small bottles if he has extra. Vinegar is cheap but broken glass around animals is bad.
My grandad used to put a neoprene "coozy" (designed for soda cans) on his large glass bottles of medications. If the coozy was too big, he just pinched it tight on the side and stapled it with a stapler. It made the bottle easier to hold too.

Your method for lambing looks like you are on the money.😃You watch when you add more protein feed, and when to get their vitamins, and you are recording previous lambings. 👩🏻💻💗It's tough to lose a few stillborns, but that can happen sometimes without any reason. Wouldn't it be natural selection? As they had something wrong so they left before even being born? Nature can be cruel, but I think it's clever too. One of the lambs had strange legs. Perhaps that is the reason. But it is always hard to lose lambs. And you hear and feel the sadness of Sandi. I could cry if that is happening. And the mommas that cry for their lambs, so sad. But I guess it's nature that is telling, nope, not good... 😭
@@annnoyez Yes. I think that sometimes something is wrong so the lamb does not go full term. Nature's way of telling us the all is not going well for the offspring.

One of my favorite things about Christmas lambing is the sweet music while you film going thru the barn with the precious lights on, the Christmas tree glowing, and all the mamas with there babies, and the fresh golden hay shining. I love seeing this every Christmas season. Brings me joy!🥰

I even heard babies cry I'm my sleep. And as I raised 4 of myself I thought it would be a piece of cake... I have the most respect for nurses that work in NICU or children's hospitals. Yes, lambs have weird little 'overboots" when they are born. On some you can see them. They are white and have strange, soft fingers-shaped cartilage covering the bottom sharp edge of the hooves. They dry up and fall off in about the time it takes Mom to lick the lamb dry.

On glass bottles you can paint around the middle where you hold it. Use the liquid stuff for dipping tool handles in. It is quite thick, sticks to everything and drys fast. i had some left over from some small pliers that did not come coated. It does not keep well once opened so I have used the extra to paint my apple cider vinegar which only comes in glass bottles and you add to drinking water for chickens. The fake stuff comes in plastic but the stuff i need only in glass and bottles just a little big for my hands which are often wet when playing with water. Mark most likely has some, it would not hurt to put a 1 inch grip line on the small bottles if he has extra. Vinegar is cheap but broken glass around animals is bad.

My grandad used to put a neoprene "coozy" (designed for soda cans) on his large glass bottles of medications. If the coozy was too big, he just pinched it tight on the side and stapled it with a stapler. It made the bottle easier to hold too.

Wouldn't it be natural selection? As they had something wrong so they left before even being born? Nature can be cruel, but I think it's clever too. One of the lambs had strange legs. Perhaps that is the reason. But it is always hard to lose lambs. And you hear and feel the sadness of Sandi. I could cry if that is happening. And the mommas that cry for their lambs, so sad. But I guess it's nature that is telling, nope, not good... 😭
@@annnoyez Yes. I think that sometimes something is wrong so the lamb does not go full term. Nature's way of telling us the all is not going well for the offspring.

One of my favorite things about Christmas lambing is the sweet music while you film going thru the barn with the precious lights on, the Christmas tree glowing, and all the mamas with there babies, and the fresh golden hay shining. I love seeing this every Christmas season. Brings me joy!🥰
