      It was, and are you talking to me expression? That impish grin...Pamela Sue Martin said that she should have landed Dex in season 4 not her onscreen mother...
      Emma Samms is a good actor in her own way...But not for Dynasty, and not for Fallon...Personal opinion, to which we're all entitled to have...

    I once saw an interview with one of the writers on "Dynasty", and he said that different visual cues were used to either make the audience love a character or hate them. With Heather Locklear (Sammy Jo), a real villainess, she was often shown eating large sandwiches and potato chips -- and yet never gaining a pound. "There's no better way to make female viewers hate a woman character", he laughed.

    I love these opening title sequences...We'll never see this sort of thing again...I was literally a baby when Dynasty first aired in the UK in 1982, according to my parents..I've seen the repeats on UK Gold 1999/2000 and on CBS Drama UK in 2018 and have the full DVD box sets which came out earlier in the UK than in the US, where they split seasons into two parts
    Anyway, how on earth Equity union representatives now barely tolerate any opening sequences for TV shows that have the actors name in a tiny font is beyond me...And the end credits zip by so fast you don't even know who the supporting cast and crew are

    The reason that these lavish minute-and-a-half opening theme and cast intros don't exist anymore? It used to be that TV shows had 47-50 minutes to tell their story of the week. Now they're down to 42, maybe 43 minutes. They just don't have a minute and a half to waste on the intro. It's a shame.

      That, plus, once upon a time, ACTUAL composers (Bill Conti, Henry Mancini, Lalo Schifrin, etc.) were composing the music.
      Paying the composer could get expensive -- and if the theme became a hit, it could get even MORE expensive . . . since TV studios didn't have the big budget of a movie studio, they had to cut costs whenever possible; it was starting then that they began using generic synthesizer riffs or whatever was the latest MTV hit for a theme.

      @gspendlove 2 роки тому +1

      @@chewybunz But there's good news now! Because last night I started the third season of "Evil," the show streaming on Paramount Plus (and my latest obsession). There was a long, stylish, theme-incorporating, artfully done intro with a newly composed piece of music. It seems streaming services are bringing it back because they're not hampered by the one-hour format that constricts network TV. They don't have to worry about run times or TV commercials. I'm glad you replied to my comment here because I've missed TV theme songs and intros and I'm happy they're coming back from oblivion.

With many dreams, hopes and ambition. It was an escape from reality of growing up poor . After college graduation...I knew nothing could stop me from obtaining financial security . I of course didn't become as wealthy as the characters of Dynasty....but I realize my true priorities in life as I got older. Money is security...we don't have to be famous or rich to be happy. I'm not ashamed of growing up poor..if I could go back I wouldn't change a thing about my life growing up.

      There's an intriguing article which argues that the first 12 episodes were the show's peak.
