Jacob reminds me of jade from disociaDiD he's very reserved and very protective like jade shes literally said "I do not like you guys but Chloe is forcing me to make a video so here I am" I love jade because of how cold and ironically funny she is but Jacob seems to be very very sweet in his own way if that makes any sense.

Jade stated that it was her own decision to make the video as an olive branch to the Internet audience and also as an olive branch to Chloe in honor of Chloe's brave decision to make the videos in the first place.
She also never said she didn't like us, but that she viewed the Internet audience as a threat.

Nah, I figured you for a supportive person! And I definitely wasn't trying to attack you. I think, honestly, that I am just really nervous about the language used around a subject that is so largely misunderstood (in this case, DID) and I read your comment as being overly general. To be honest, it's not really even my place to make that call so, in hindsight, I apologize. Peace and love on your venture through DID vids. Personally, I feel like I"m learning a lot. :)

@@jennyevans9930 honestly I'm starting to get that alot too with DiD and many disorders you really have to be careful with how you word things as to not offend anyone on another one of wyns videos about integration she talked about mistletoe and in a previous video daniel talked about how being an alter can suck sometimes and the challenges he faces as an alter I wound up commenting that "i would love to be all there friends if I had the chance even mistletoes mischevious ass lol" not realizing that even tho I meant it in a joking way it was insensitive to mistletoe seeing as everyone in the comment section usually antagonizes her over her past in the system so I completely understand what ur saying and I will try my best to word things properly the next time if it sounded as if i didn't.

This video has a different atmosphere to it, and I feel honored to be able to meet you, Jacob.
The heater added to this atmosphere, I feel. In a house the place where the boiler is, is usually the deepest/most central part of that dwelling. In seeing you come out, it felt like I had travelled very close to the center of your system temporarily, and witnessed some constant and highly optimized inner workings not usually made visible. It’s hard to imagine showing that for all to see, so I want you to know I am appreciative of your ability and willingness to push yourself to do that.

As some who is aromantic and asexual or aroace and therefore unable to feel "love" in a romantic or sexual way, I see your view on love as the correct and right one! It's a contract to love even if the feelings themselves are gone but people don't see it that way! It's a contract to care and help them and yourself become a better person and it shouldn't be always built on the fickle nature of romantic and sexual attraction! It won't be for me at least but I also feel that makes it more genuine and stronger for it.

I've always thought that someone without emotions could only ever be a fairly unstable person, but I think Jacob has proven me intensely wrong.
I really do respect the role Jacob plays in your system, as well as Jacob as a person in general. While he may not have emotion, he genuinely cares and clearly takes love and marriage more seriously than some singular people who do have emotions. That's more than most can say, and that deserves some major props.
I also really admire his ability to identify where the extreme emotions may cause issues and where they're innocent, that's something I can't even do with my own emotions.

Thanks Jacob, it was really great to meet you after hearing so much about you. You gave me an better understanding as to what you do and why you do that. My question for you Jacob is: how do you know when its times to give Wyn a particular memory? Give her more pieces to parts of her past?

    • @TheEntropySystem
      @TheEntropySystem 6 років тому +68

It involves a complex assessment of who the memory belongs too, how much they can can handle emotionally, and how much outside stress is effecting Wyn’s ability to remain emotionally stable. The Littles hold the most traumatic memories and they experience high levels of fear recounting their tales. Any time memory work is conducted in therapy, Jonathan is present and gives the Littles’ small bits of their memory back. Then the Little shares that experience with Wyn. When they’ve had as much as they can handle, the Little will usually pull away or give other verbal and non verbals signs that they’ve reached their limit. At that point, Jonathan recollects the bits of memory and returns them to the chest. Wyn is able to remember hearing about the memory so she is able to put together the puzzle of her past without the extreme emotional disruption that would be cause by releasing the memory completely. -Jacob

So far, my husband has been able to reach 2 alters, while I have only reached one through journaling. I am starting to feel this hopelessness that I will never be able to reach them. My second question for you Jacob is: when you and Jonathan were introducing yourselves to Wyn and used popular shows in altering Wyn's dreams, ex: The Winchester Brothers from Supernatural, in those dreams did you stick with the idea of the show to help Wyn know she's very capable in solving problems, or did you change parts of the popular shows you were using to tailor them around Wyn specifically so that she could without a doubt learn she was capable in figuring things out and problem solving.

    • @TheEntropySystem

  • @MidnightSonnet

You're very intense. Your eyes are unforgiving. You're very straightforward and to the point. I can see where that balance is needed, as everyone needs that median that reels in every emotion before they get out of control. For that, I respect what you do and the role you play. I like how you work together with Jonathan to create a better world for Wyn in general.
Being a highly spiritual (not religious) person, I view love differently than you. Love is felt in every facet of life and beyond. It's shared with all flora and fauna. It's the abundance of positivity. It's what we all should feel for ourselves and each other. It's compassion, empathy, sympathy, affection, joy, laughter, happiness all rolled into one. It's the presence of a clearer understanding of self and universal energy. Love is oneness. Love is beauty of the soul. It's what we're naturally meant to feel more than anything else.
I think Jonathan would be the one suited to teach Wyn to love herself, because she needs it desperately. I'm sure her husband tries his best to show her every single day that she's an amazing person who deserves love.
I know you're the more logical, grounded, and rather cynical side of Wyn who understands the negative sides of life and how they can impact a person in the wrong ways. You're the one that tries to talk friends out of doing something they might regret later, but you're also willing to see that the emotions are necessary. It's like you're structured to allow little to no margin of error, which, in of itself, can be detrimental to the host. Everyone will make mistakes and get hurt. Jonathan knows that all too well. But, much like a child, we all need to learn that mistakes are okay and that wounds, whether mental or physical, will heal if we let them. Wyn, and everyone else with DID, have many mental blockages that were created to protect their little minds. Now that they're adults, therapy is necessary to bring forth the painful trauma in a healthy way so that the mind doesn't need protecting anymore.
I know that alters seems to have this idea that they will somehow not be necessary or important when they integrate. If Mistletoe's integration has taught me anything, it's that, when they fuse with the host, they're more present than ever, because they are now one with the host. That is incredibly important, as you're all just pieces of her, after all. What's best for Wyn is best for the system and I think the Protectors know this, which is why integration is always agreed upon as the goal the majority of the time. If you guys stay too attached to being separate and your own people, the host can't ever heal from the trauma. The fragments of her past need to piece together like a puzzle, which is why you're all different, yet work well together.

Jacob:- first, nice to meet you.
Although I myself don't have DID, I do have, for want of a better word, facets. One of those facets is my intellectual self, as a result of many years studying the biological sciences at a academic level, and astronomy, philosophy, and politics, as a kinda hobby. As studying, effectively, the human biological sciences, is not only a bit dry, but you have to take damn seriously to get decent grades. I remember having to use so many textbooks, that my tiny desk couldn't handle, that I retreated to the not often used dining room in my parents house. For every paper written, I would cite at least half-dozen textbooks as my primary source, where some would only use two.
In order to understand, say, how cellular respiration works at a molecular level, means wrapping my mind around a chain of independent chemical reactions that sequentially feeds into the next. And the only way to do that, is to block off my emotions, and focus. Listening to the amazing music of J.S. Bach* on my portible CD player (hey, this was 1997, when I was 23 ... yes, I am that old ...) helped enormously ... and certainly cut out the noise of my mum clanging around the kitchen next door ...
So when I listen to you, you remind me of my stoic, almost withdrawn, state when I was up to my shoulders in classes on Pathology, Medical Microbiology, Immunology, and much else ...
Sadly, after the inevitable tsunami of my Trauma hit me, I had to drop out at my second year. Now at 44, I am contemplating starting over, and finnish my undergrad degree I never had, & who knows, a Masters after that, and even, if I live that long, a Ph.D ...
Speaking of which, a word to the wise: I once knew a pair of Ph.D candidates who not long completed effectivly their Masters year(s); you could tell that they were pretty drained already, with the hard part still yet to come. If Wyn does get her Masters placement, she is going to need your strength to get through it.
I know this sounds weird saying this, but I wish I knew you in real life. I don't get to talk about complex subjects much these days( such as the merits of Hagel vs Seneca ...) ...
Anyway, take care, and I hope I do see you again in the future.
[*= Pro-tip: Bach, especially his instrumental works, is a balm to the soul. If you ever need a calming 'musical wallpaper' to act as colourful skyscape when in deep study mode, I can't think of anything else I rather listen to ... ]

May I ask what medications have impacted your access to influence dreams? Are they medications designed to help with nightmares? I'm just very curious when it comes to how meds can impact various alters roles and abilities. Hi Jacob, i feel very honered to get to know you. I hace a question, do your lack of emotions came from your memories as a individual? Or you It has no conection to your memories/past knowldege?
