My halo dog collar has been replaced on warranty six times so far, since Oct 2020, it has failed that many times. No abuses, it just stopped power up this last time. Once it fails and they replace it on warranty the reconditioned collars the send out do not last but about 14 days and they fail. Terrible for a $700.00 plus collar.
I just ordered one for my shepherd mix. We have a parameter fence right now, but it only gives her a 90ft circle around the house. We have nearly 4 acres and this girl looks bred to run! Anyway, thanks for the review. I was holding my breath when you were saying whether you would buy it again!
Well, we only shocked her once with the circle parameter fence and never again had to use anything but beeps and whistles. We love the Halo collar! We are disappointed that they doubled the monthly subscription price, but it's still worth it! We can use it anywhere we go, and since she recognizes the signals, she understands her boundaries. We can save up to 20 different places, which is nice for when we return to a campsite or visit relatives. And we can always check where she is in the yard if we are unsure when she is out hunting those pesky rabbits and squirrels! LOL
Buy a FI3 Collar. It stays charged for several months if not in lost mode. Last about two days in lost mode but you would have found your dog. Gives you updates every minute if in lost mode. My Belgian Malinois took off today and the tracking feature worked great. Fortunately Chole returned back home after about 10 minutes but I was able to see where she was.
Thank you for your honest review! You are right, there are a lot of advertisements on this product, but not a lot of reviews. We have 2 puppies that we need to contain and I really want this to be a good option, but I'm still "on the fence" about it.
We got ours a month ago and put zip ties on by the collar connection. I contacted the company and that piece at the end is replicable and purchasable. It is held on with screws. Past the screws and no go. Our pup is 7 mo old so still adjusting size as well, that is OK. Training is very long. Nice to get that right for a shock collar. I put it on my leg at 10 and it hurt but not as much as an electric fence. Ultrasonic whistle is really effective. Still have not set a fence.
Great info. I just got mine yesterday at an animal shelter auction. Looks new, but no instructions on anything. I'm still trying to set it up, let alone use it. Keep me posted on how yours is working out for you. thx
@@slenechk we returned it. Setting up fence was long position learn. Lots of errors early. After training collar to fence, it took a long time to turn on outdoor signal. Return to yard sensitivity too poor. We returned it.
Thanks for your review! I agree - hard to find much info aside from the ads. We just got our collar. Took 2.5 months to arrive. Halo said it would be 2 weeks when we paid for it. And yes the battery factor is a bummer. Otherwise, I’m hopeful! Glad the collar is working out for you and your girl!
I didn't have to wait that long for mine but it's really a tool for each person and or dog. I think I should do another video because I don't even use mine except maybe when I'm at a new location that I have to worry about other people not my dog lol
Thank you for your honest review we have an Argentina Dogo and we don’t want to take the chance of him getting away so we’re just going to go through extra training again thank you
hey man, thanks for such a honest review. 999.00 is a whole lot of money for a 1 day charge and a 1 day use. I was looking into this for my own German shepherd, we live on 3 acres and he's gone on solo adventures and been gone for hours. he's always found but man!, a thousand bucks. for that I could build him a great dog run. I think I'm going to do that instead of giving my hard earned money away. but again, thank you for such honesty. hard to find these days.
Thanks for honesty! I also would never use shock on my sportdog collar ( tho I don’t shame folks that do - I’d rather a dog be shocked than hit by a car chasing a squirrel) My dog always responded to vibration !
After months of working with costumer service because the 3 collars I have were no longer connecting or staying connected, they finally offered to exchange them. I sent the 3 collars in and only received 1 collar back. It came in 1 week, which impressed me and I thought the other 2 would follow soon there after. However it has now been a month and no collars. Their last email states they received no collars back, and that they wanted proof I sent them back. However they sent me 1 of the 3 back so, please tell me how you did not receive the other 2 in the same box! This company is out for the money not your precious dog! I have also written 2 review on their web page and they are not listed! That says a lot about a company if they will only show happy reviews and not the review of the people who are having difficulty and they don't stand behind their product!
The inaccuracy of consumer-level GPS is what’s holding back GPS dog collars like this one. Many times my iPhone GPS will show that my iPhone is 40 feet away from where it really is. When you are depending on accuracy for training your dog with a reliable virtual area fence area that they can be trained on and remember not to leave the area, plus or minus 40 feet is not nearly accurate enough. The dog ends up getting confused and scared and they will either just take off or be so afraid to even go outside.
We purchased two dog collars and neither of them worked nor did the two beacons work. We live in an area with strong GPS signal, and the product worked when we slowly tested it. The issue is the collar fails to keep up with the signal and shocks the dog when they're back in the yard because 15 seconds ago they were outside the perimeter. This was very confusing for our dogs and hard to watch. The beacons had the same issue, I would go up to the beacon with the collar and wouldn't receive a warning for a few seconds. We had the same issue with both collars and both beacons, so it appears the technology is just not reliable yet. Halo charged a restocking fee for us returning this even though we went through all the troubleshooting steps they recommended multiple times. The rep on the phone even told me that he uses this on his dog, but when the dog breaks the parameter he just whistles him in and doesn't rely on the collar to warn or prevent the dog. This product is not viable as advertised and the fact that the company won't refund you in full when returning it makes this company a borderline scam. Working with my credit card company to dispute the charges, it sounds like that will solve it. If this happens to you make sure to file a chargeback.
Just because the company decides that they don’t allow refunds either at all or after a certain time doesn’t mean they are a scam. What is a scam however is that you think you’re 100% entitled to your money back and you were willing to financially find the company for it and then have your bank refund your money. Maybe next time you’ll be a grown-up and you will read the return policy before you buy something.
It took a couple of months also for my collar to arrive in the box. Found a plug-in for the usb-c and kept it plugged in all day with a flashing green light. Had to look up what the light meant online. It was not charging. So I purchased one of their plug ins and it did the same. Contacted halo. Sent the collar back with cover, collar & the little prong covers. After another month a collar arrived but was not my collar fixed, it was a used collar with no cover on it, no collar or prong covers. It was just the gps part. In the directions it didn’t state to unattached all of that. So contacted the company again and was told I could purchase the accessories. Ugh I did some arguing to another rep who sent me a cover and collar but not the collar I requested. I was not able (from the time of purchasing to getting the cover & collar) for about 4 months. I was disgusted. I hope everyone didn’t have this problem. Plus I was paying a monthly charge. I still have to watch all these videos.
I have left the area for work and my wife is gone for 12 to 14 hours at work. For the money, this sounds like a real disappointment for the battery charge.I think I will be saving my money.
Well on the newer ones they have worked on some of the quirks and you are supposed to remove at night so it should be in use only every 12hrs. I just got mine last week and it has held charge for the 12hrs thus far and is working well so far. Fingers crossed
That is for if you want to use the shock mode. For training I use this but would not recommend for this collar unless you have big boundaries I just don't trust this collar to be accurate all the time
What point are you referring to? I got 4 major points out this video: One, the range limit has some inaccuracy so shocking the dog at various distances within that error range is going to confuse it. Two, the battery capacity is not great so you better not forget to charge it every night. Three, the build quality is not great, and there are mechanical features on the collar strap that will snag on branches and not let the dog retreat from a thicket or other dense brush. Four, the owner gives a lukewarm response as to whether he would purchase it again. I took that to mean if there was a competitive product that solves some of these issues he pointed out, he would entertain the option of purchasing the competing product. Looks like you need a 10 second video where a guy says" It's OK, some good some bad ". I think this guy did a nice, informative job of highlighting the issues he's experienced as an owner.
This guy took his time to purchase a $700 product, review, film, edit and upload a short video review on that product which there aren't any reviews for and you're crying about a 2:56 video?! Same! Still not fully convinced.

Thank you for an honest review.

Mine is a German shepherd too, she is fixed and trained well so I don't use mine anymore but to track her for my own concern
I appreciate the review. Thank you. I wonder if I can get something to smooth those plastic ends you mentioned so my dogs don’t get caught in brush.
Thanks for honesty! I also would never use shock on my sportdog collar ( tho I don’t shame folks that do - I’d rather a dog be shocked than hit by a car chasing a squirrel)

My dog dose really good on the sound

Great cameo at the end there
Thank you for your review. It was helpful.

And that is why I don't use the shock feature on this collar

Was yours the Halo 1 or 2?

Thank you for the review helpful and to the point.
I like to see the trees in the back ground. How does the collar work in those trees? I have a lot of them!
I had no problems in the woods

thank you for the review. very helpful
Thanks for the real review
Does the fence work good when you are in a bad cell service area?
Thank you
I have left the area for work and my wife is gone for 12 to 14 hours at work. For the money, this sounds like a real disappointment for the battery charge.I think I will be saving my money.
For a thousand bux it ought to be built like fort knox imo. Smooth all around and unbreakable shouldn't be rocket science...jmho.
Thanks for the review
Thank you!
Wow you only get 1 day out of it on a full charge? That's kind of insane considering the price.
And i shouldn't of said a day because mine only last about 9 to 10 hours
Well on the newer ones they have worked on some of the quirks and you are supposed to remove at night so it should be in use only every 12hrs. I just got mine last week and it has held charge for the 12hrs thus far and is working well so far. Fingers crossed
how long do you need to have your dogs out of the house? They charge over night no?
Great review.
I am looking at it for two pups that are almost adults. A border collie and a pit mix. Will they destroy it while playing?
will it work with out cellular signal or gps
What are those spikes on the inside?
That is for if you want to use the shock mode. For training I use this but would not recommend for this collar unless you have big boundaries I just don't trust this collar to be accurate all the time
Do you recommend a different collar after this review?
Sportdog is the one I really like for training and if only for one place same for an underground fence
For the algorithm 🤓🥳💪👏🤙🤔😎
Halo is a garbage company. I regret ever hearing about them.
I have had a horrible experience with this company. The customer service is useless. Stay away from Halo.
oh my goodness are those prongs that stick into the dogs neck!!!! I'd NEVER use anything that might cause discomfort, ever, ever.
Your do is trapped, he’s a slave. Dont use it
Why can't people get to the gd point?
